ACADEMIC LIFE At Redlands Community College, you can kick-start the next chapter of your life. We’ll help you reach your goals and get to places you may have thought were out of reach. Redlands offers three types of associate degrees and a variety of certificates. Graduates with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science are prepared to transfer to a four-year university to complete a bachelor’s degree, and graduates with an Associate in Applied Science degree are ready to enter the workforce. Core general education courses are required for all degrees. Whether you want to be an engineer, pharmacist, or teacher, you will need these same basic courses. At Redlands, you can take these courses online or on campus at

an affordable cost with experienced, knowledgeable instructors.

In addition to online classes, Redlands also offers online degrees in Child Development, Family Studies, Criminal Justice, Enterprise Development and General Studies, and online certificates in Child Development, Human/Social Services Assistant and Criminal Justice. General Studies

General Studies is a flexible degree designed to transfer to a wide variety of college majors. For some students, choosing a career path is the most difficult part of their college experience. This degree is a great place to start if you are searching for your dream career field.

There are many job opportunities in the ever-expanding fields of law enforcement, corrections and juvenile justice. To find the perfect criminal justice career, you first need to identify your strengths and interests. Redlands’ classes will prepare you to meet the challenges facing today’s professionals. You can earn a degree taking oncampus classes, but the program can also be completed online. Courses are transferable to a four-year university or can be geared for a two-year degree that will set you up to enter the workforce. Nursing

Nursing is among the top 10 occupations with one of the largest job growth rates. Redlands offers an accredited two-year Associate in Applied Science Degree Nursing Program. Graduates are eligible to take a licensing exam to become a Registered Nurse. The program threads theory, laboratory, clinical components

and simulations together. Nursing classes have a small ratio of students per instructor, and graduates are successfully gaining employment after completing the program. Pre-Professional Science

Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills are essential for success in many careers – fields that are in high demand and pay good salaries. With an Associate in Science degree, you will be ready to continue your studies at a four-year university. If you’re interested in a career as a forensic scientist, meteorologist or educator, to name a few, this degree will help you achieve your goals. Family Studies & Child Development

Working with children can shape their lives and impact the future. This online or on-campus program will prepare you for a career in childcare, education programs, family service and community programs to name a few. Study takes place in real-world settings where you will observe and document children playing and interacting, create stimulating learning environments and meet with parents to discuss the progress of their children.

While loans can help you realize the college dream, keep in mind that these loans must be paid back with interest. There are two basic types of college loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. A subsidized loan is need based and interest does not start until after you graduate, unsubsidized loans are not need based and interest starts building as soon as you get the loan, even if you are still in school. It is best to keep loans at a minimum and focus on getting scholarships, grants and tuition waivers.
