On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the Hispanic Leaders Group of Greater Saint Louis (HLG) delegation held its annual Hispanic Capitol Day. The HLG delegation was comprised of the HLG board, at large members, and individuals from the community including other allies, students, and representatives of other racial and ethnic minority organizations.
The delegation met with various members of the Missouri legislature, directors and other representatives of state departments, the Missouri Highway Patrol, and Governor Mike Parsons. The HLG delegates advocated for issues ranging from increasing appointments of Hispanic leaders to state boards and commissions, education opportunities, access to in-state tuition rates for DACA students, maternal mortality rates and the need to extend post-partum Medicaid coverage to 12 months, reform the Medicaid redetermination process to protect children and others at risk, infrastructure investments, language access across departments and services, judicial appointments, and other key issues towards greater equity and improved community outcomes throughout our state.
