Meditation to break chains of suffering

By Ismael Cala

Today I read a piece of news in the press that confirms what I have believed for years and preached about meditation’s benefits.

The Evidence

An international study with the participation of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), cited by the newspaper La Voz de Galicia, provides for the first time scientific evidence that carrying out a mindfulnesstype meditation intervention, combined with activities of artistic expression and psychological therapy for trauma, offers benefits in adolescents who have suffered cycles of suffering.

Other Benefits

In addition, it is unnecessary to think of the next generation to see the terrible consequences of abuse on children. As adults, they are more at risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, cancer, respiratory and mental illnesses, as well as being more prone to alcohol and drug use.

This news convinces us every day to go ahead with events such as the meditation course that will take place at the Cala Center (Miami) where for sexual abuse of children and adolescents are devastating (the same source consulted estimates that, in 2021 alone, one billion children across the planet experienced some type of violence or neglect, including sexual abuse), there is much that we can do from our trenches to at least contribute to the effects of posttraumatic stress prevailing.

Science Confirms It

Science has already confirmed that mindfulness meditation can contribute to this, so we will not rest in promoting its practice in all possible ways.

What else do you need to know to start meditating? Remember that it is better to be meditated than medicated.
