Leeds Corn Exchange (Final Boards)

Leeds Corn Exchange Re-Brand : Through this brief I wanted to explore the rebranding of a well known establishment where the audiences opinion is essential. I wanted to experiment with vectored imagery in the logo, apposed soley using typogrpahy. What I have learnt : How to explore the origins of a brand, and what really matters to the client. How to push a range beyond what has already been done for the client. Primary research is essential, getting more knowledge about your subject directly influences the design proccess.

The Logo : The logo was created with a mature audience in mind. I really wanted to focus on the archetectural heritage of the building and incorporate this within the logo. The colour pallet was selected from spot colours inside the building. The colours came from the detailing: Wooden door frame paint, shop signage etc.

Enterance & Impact : Currently there is no way of knowing what stores are inside the Corn Exchange, unless you look on the website before your visit. I decided to put the promo pannels outside the enterance to better use, by showing the audience what stores are inside and where you would find them. Keeping with the primary typeface (Gill Sans) using a variaty of weights, the boards are simple, yet affective.

Shop Signage : To sit alosngisde the re-brand I produced shop signage, which incorporates the same typeface and colour pallet as the Corn Exchange logo. The signs also have another detail included from the buildings decor, which is the stars carved into the beams on the underside of the upper balcony. These added a little more edge to the design apposed to flat type on a sign.

Website : With a new logo finalised the old website did not sit alongside the range already produced so far. I believe that a valuable area of the Corn Exchange is the roof and the finish throughout the building. I produced a new website which was more intuitive to follow and uses more imagery for impact. I produced new designs for each page that is already live on the web and tried to carry some class and sophistication from the logo to the web.

Extra Range : To broaden the awareness of the rebrand and allow people to have a unique experience at a unique shopping centre, I have produced a tote canvas bag incorporating the new logo alongside a t-shirt, which will be avaliable in each store inside the Corn Exchange.
