From the Editor
Welcome to the 2022 edition of Illinois Women in Commercial Real Estate. Each year we look forward to creating this special issue of Illinois Real Estate Journal, one devoted to highlighting the success stories of the women thriving in the Illinois commercial real estate industry.
We all know that there remains a gender gap in commercial real estate. Just look at the attendance and speakers at most commercial real estate conference. You’ll find plenty of men, but not as many women. Thankfully, this is changing. That change is slow, but it is real. We still have a long way to go, but we can see progress each year.
The women in this magazine have made tremendous in-roads in the industry. Their energy, expertise and generosity shine through in these profiles.
I’d like to thank CREW Chicago, as always, for all the work they do in advancing the careers of women in real estate. Their continued outreach efforts, networking programs and scholarships have helped countless women reach their CRE goals.
Here’s to a wonderful 2023 and to even more success for the women in commercial real estate. We hope to see you at our many LIVE events next year.
Best regards, Susan Mickey

Message from CREW Chicago’s President
Tammy Kelly CCIM, CPM Managing Director & Head of Asset Management, EQT Exeter US MultifamilyAs the 2022 CREW Chicago President, I am happy once again to express our gratitude to the Illinois Real Estate Journal for highlighting in this special issue the important roles women play in the commercial real estate industry. As you read the profiles of these amazing women, many of whom are members of CREW Chicago, you realize just how much they contribute to the vibrancy and success of our industry.
As a chapter of CREW Network, CREW Chicago, with over 300 members, is dedicated to advancing the success of women in commercial real estate. CREW Network’s membership of more than 12,000 professionals in over 75 major global markets represents all aspects of commercial real estate, providing our members with direct access to real estate professionals across all geographies and disciplines.
Whether you are looking to Learn, Help, or Meet, CREW Chicago has it all!
• Professional and personal development,
• Mentoring young women through CREW Careers and providing scholarship opportunities to women focused on RE degrees, and
• Many networking and leadership opportunities!
CREW Network is the leading producer of research on gender and diversity in commercial real estate and provides critical information, tools, industry education and leadership development. Benchmark studies and white papers are available to all at CREWNetwork.org.
Through industry education and leadership development, we are working to move the dial specifically related to:
• Increasing the number of women in the commercial real estate industry which is currently 36.7%.
• Fixing the salary gap between genders of 10.2% and the 55.9% gap that exists when it comes to commission and bonus structures,
• Increasing the 9% of women that hold C-suite positions in commercial real estate, and
• Making our industry overall more diverse.
We know diversity works, research shows us that companies with gender and ethnic diversity on their executive teams and boards see significantly higher profits, greater levels of innovation and market growth, and more successful employee recruitment and retention rates.
CREW Chicago offers unmatched opportunities to network, learn, and enhance skills to advance and thrive in our industry. We strive to provide programming and the connections to support that networking and advancement and we have fun too!
We invite all to come and check us out either at one of our open program events which focuses on relevant industry related topics, our Annual Industry Leadership Award Celebration, our Annual Golf Outing, or our Signature Last Call for Fall event.
