Helen is a Director with EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services team in Melbourne, providing sustainability advisory and assurance services to a range of clients across industries. She is a chartered Chemical Engineer with over 15 years’ experience in Australia and the UK as an engineering and sustainability professional. Prior to joining EY in Melbourne, Helen worked in the UK for a global engineering and environmental consultancy focusing on sustainability and climate change, and also worked as an engineer with ExxonMobil.

After a decade in consulting and government roles advising business on environment improvement opportunities Michael made the switch to the private sector in early 2011. Michael’s initial work at Goodman Fielder was focused on identifying the environmental priorities for the organisation and setting about implementing programs to drive continuous improvement in these areas. Gradually, the organisation has adopted a more holistic sustainability approach to these issues and Michael’s work now includes assessing the sustainability risks and opportunities across Goodman Fielder’s value chain while maintaining the integrity of internal environment programs. Michael is also a member of the Australian Food and Grocery Council’s Sustainable Practices Committee and represents Goodman Fielder in the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative’s Australian branch.

As the Global Director Sustainability, Tony works worldwide across all NDY offices and market sectors. He is the company’s key strategist for Sustainability. He is a founding Director and immediate past Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia. He was an elected Director of the World Green Building Council (2006 2012) and was the Chair between 2008 - 2011. He is a trustee of the Sustainable Melbourne Fund, an initiative of the Melbourne City Council created to accelerate the retro-fitting of existing buildings by making funding available to building owners. Tony is also a board member of the Energy Efficiency Council and Deakin University School of Engineering.

Clare’s role overseas the sustainability program across Transurban’s operations, projects and business practices. In this role, she has redefined the sustainability business case with a renewed focus on embedding sustainability in road design, improving neighbouring communities and partnering with industry to move people more sustainably. Prior to this role, Clare worked in financial services for PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia and for Thompson Reuters and Goldman Sachs in London. Clare holds a Master of Sustainability, Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Arts from Monash University.

Joshua Bishop is an environmental and resource economist with over 25 years’ experience. He manages WWF-Australia’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability in markets and business, focusing on key Australian commodity exports (beef, sugarcane, mining and metals), imports (timber, pulp and paper, palm oil), as well as seafood. Josh also leads WWF’s work with the Australian financial services industry, focusing on how banks can reduce environmental risks and support wider uptake of voluntary standards for sustainable production.

Rebecca works in the Social Impact team at Net Balance to help corporate, not-for-profit and government clients to clearly understand and manage social needs and impacts, whilst generating value for both investors and society. Net Balance is one of the largest providers of sustainability advice, assurance, and research in Australia. Specialising in social impact evaluation, corporate community investment and stakeholder engagement. She spends her days helping her clients to make evidence-based decisions about social programs and investment, and to be able to measure the value created by their activities.

Having joined AMP Capital in September 2010, in his role as Senior ESG Research Analyst, Måns is responsible for the analysis of ESG issues and sustainability drivers for a number of sectors, as well as regularly engaging with companies on ESG issues. Måns has 11 years’ experience in the investment industry including 3 years in financial analysis and ESG research with the largest independent Scandinavian investment bank Carnegie Investment Bank in London. He also has investment and business analysis experience at Macquarie Bank and Accenture in the United Kingdom.

As the Executive Director and Head of Research for Australia and New Zealand, Ulysses has a significant depth of experience of the local market extending into south East Asia. He oversees ‘thought leading’ research and proxy recommendations for ASX 300 companies, engaging extensively with the companies’ boards’ pre and post AGM; including an expertise in addressing ESG risk under the Corporate Governance umbrella. He is a former Asia Pacific Director in Deloitte’s working in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea.

Ro leads the Community Development and Social Sustainability Strategy at Barangaroo South, which is Lend Lease’s largest urban regeneration project globally.

Professor Robert Costanza’s trans disciplinary approach integrates the study of humans and the rest of nature to address research, policy and management issues at multiple time and space scales, from small watersheds to the global system. He is co-founder and past president of the International Society for Ecological Economics and founding editor in chief of Ecological Economics and Solutions (www. thesolutionsjournal.org). He is author or co-author of over 500 articles and 27 books and has been named one of ISI’s Highly Cited Researchers since 2004. More than 300 interviews and reports on his work have appeared in various popular media.

Ro is responsible for the delivery of 50 social programs on the Project which includes strategic partnerships with government, community, educational and cultural groups, social infrastructure, Indigenous engagement community wellbeing and the Barangaroo Skills Exchange, an onsite learning hub. Ro has also designed a cross-business collaboration called the Barangaroo South Community Partnership which is a collective impact forum for incoming tenants to the precinct, as well as an emerging leaders’ capability development program for professionals working on the Project.

Sasha Courville is NAB’s new Head of Corporate Responsibility Strategy, having led the bank’s Natural Value Strategy since late 2012. Prior to joining NAB, Dr. Courville was the Executive Director of the ISEAL Alliance, the global association of sustainability standards and assurance schemes in London and was a research fellow at the Regulatory Institutions Network at the ANU. She has a PhD (in coffee!) from the ANU, a Masters degree in development economics at the LSE and an undergraduate degree in environmental studies from York University in Canada.

Liz Courtney is a passionate global communicator who switched her corporate cape for the opportunity to travel to the ends of the earth to direct the largest series on climate change in 2012-13. Liz heralds from a senior marketing communications background having fuelled a career in brand & marketing strategy for over 20 years and now applies this skill set to raising awareness on important issues through film. She has directed and produced over 40 factual programs in the last 10 years but says “The Tipping Points” has had the most profound effect on her. Now she joins with others to mobilise millions of people around the globe in the quest to discover a new dialogue on Climate Change. Liz has worked with multiple country cultures, crossed language and social barriers to build the respect of NASA, NOAA, IPCC scientists, and many others during the making of The Tipping Points series.

Helen Dornom works for Dairy Australia (DA), the dairy industry owned service organisation that aims to support the dairy industry as a growing, innovative and sustainable industry. She has worked in the dairy industry over a number of years in a variety of areas including R, D &E, industry policy and supply chain integrity. This has involved helping industry to assess risks to its reputation/operations and helping to facilitate management solutions.

Rowan is General Manager Development with Australia’s first customer owned bank. Over the past decade Rowan has influenced the Bank’s approach to responsible banking, the creation of shared value and sustainable development. His work has seen the Bank align its business with the values and expectations of its socially aware customers located throughout Australia. bankmecu has achieved strong recognition in Australia and internationally for is approach to sustainable development and responsible business practice and integrated corporate reporting.

She is now Dairy Australia’s Manager of Sustainability, including Food Safety and Integrity. The work covers sustainability; food safety/public health; industry integrity (consumer, community and market confidence); regulatory and policy frameworks; and issues management

Paul is the current Co-Chair of the Better Building Partnership Sydney, having previously been Chairman of the UK BBP. He is the ex-chairman of the British Council of Offices sustainability committee and participated in various working groups including EPRA sustainability committee, BCSC, NSA, UKGBC and GBCA. Paul has been involved with Australian Green Building Council from the start including Chairman of the Green Star Interiors tool. He previously worked at Arup and Lend Lease, responsible for delivering leading edge green buildings including The Bond and RAAF Richmond in Sydney as well as involvement in ANZ and The Gauge at Docklands. He led Hammerson to be top in sector for FTSE4Good, CDP and GRESB. Paul was named 28th most influential person in sustainability by Building Magazine, UK.

Adam is Global Head of Delivery for Plan A - Marks & Spencer’s ground-breaking eco/ethical plan. Launched in January 2007 and extended in March 2010, Plan A aims to make Marks and Spencer the most sustainable major retailer in the world. As well as shaping the strategy, he is responsible for driving and reporting on the delivery of Plan A across every part of the business (in 50+ territories worldwide), ensuring that appropriate controls are in place and working with colleagues to manage issues and realise opportunities. Adam also has responsibility for M&S Energy which one of the UK’s largest provider of gas and electricity to homes across the country.

Kathryn’s has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate affairs including sustainability strategy and reporting, government relations, internal and external communication, media management, stakeholder engagement and community partnerships and sponsorships. Prior to Net Balance, Kathryn spent 15 years in the electricity industry in a variety of roles including Corporate Affairs Manager and Environmental Affairs/ Sustainability Manager. She has also held senior roles at Coles Supermarkets and the Institute of Architects. Kathryn started her career as a journalist, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and Communication at RMIT.

Peta began with Lush on the shop floors of Dublin 14 years ago. She went on to work alongside the founders in the UK and spent 10 years visiting over 40 Lush countries around the world working on business strategy, global communication and team development. She moved back to her home town of Melbourne in 2011 to take up the Directorship of Lush Australia and New Zealand.

Toby is a Sustainability Professional with 14 years of experience across a range of sectors, including: government; energy; water; industrial; extractive; and the property sector. Toby is a specialist in monetising and embedding environmental and societal risks and opportunities into business planning, policy development and infrastructure projects. During his career Toby has held positions with multinational corporates and government organisations in Australia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, working with the likes of Masdar Future Energy Company, Woodside Petroleum, Exon Mobile, Sydney Airport Corporation, Toyota Power and the QLD Department of Natural Resources. He is currently the Market Sustainability Analyst with WWF Australia.

Stephanie Pullings Hart has been in her role as Executive Director Operations since January 2013. She began her Nestlé career in 1995 as an Operations Management Trainee in the USA for Friskies PetCare. Throughout her 19 year career, Stephanie has had roles of increasing responsibility in manufacturing and research & development and human resources with postings in the USA and Switzerland. She holds a degree of BSc Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Benedictine College. In her current role, Stephanie is responsible for safety, quality, engineering, regulatory & scientific affairs, and manufacturing for Oceania.

David has more than 25 years of management consulting, strategy and corporate finance experience across a range of industries. He joined IAG’s Corporate Office in December 2013 as Group General Manager, Strategy, responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation, developing IAG’s shared value and managing other innovation projects for the company.

Mele-Ane is the chair of B Lab Australia & New Zealand and works for impact investment house Small Giants, currently running one of their investee companies, Dumbo Feather. She has a background in law, but completed an Oxford MBA as a Skoll Centre fellow after which she started working in the area of social and responsible business, and impact investing.

David was previously the General Manager for CGU’s Corporate Office, with responsibilities for Corporate Strategy, Risk & Compliance, Brand & Corporate Communication, Legal Services and the CGU Foundation. David joined CGU in August 2011 from the corporate advisory firm Lexicon Partners where he focused on merger and acquisitions, corporate restructures and corporate strategy.

With over 8 years of experience in the sustainability sector, Charlie leads Net Balance’s Climate Change service line. In this area, he works on greenhouse gas (NGER/PEC/JCP) assurance engagements, energy audits and corporate carbon inventories across a range of sectors as well as helping clients identify costeffective opportunities for reducing their energy use. He is a registered Category 2 (Lead) Greenhouse and Energy Auditor with the Clean Energy Regulator. Prior to Net Balance, Charlie worked as the sustainability analyst for DLA Piper in London. Charlie holds a Master of Environmental Management from UNSW and a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from the ANU.

Experienced in supply chain Quality and Integrity programmes, she has contributed to the development and implementation of many global QA and integrity standards owned by organisations such as BRC, SQF and ETI. In 2006 she was recruited by Coles Supermarkets to lead their Quality programme for private label and made the move to live in Melbourne Australia. Her achievements in this role include establishing the Coles brand Quality programme, recruiting and developing a team of over 100 professionals in the field of Quality Management and successfully implementing Farm to Fork QA programmes across all food categories.

Sustainability & Clean Tech Market Development Manager for ASEAN and ANZ at Autodesk Navin is a strong supporter of start-ups that are looking to make positive changes to the world and the society around them, and is constantly on the lookout to network and engage any individuals or organisations that want to share thoughts on a sustainable world. Prior to joining Autodesk, Navin spent 6 years at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, where he worked with educational institutions, entrepreneurs, incubators and multiple organisations to unearth and cultivate a vibrant start-up environment in Singapore. He also played a key role in a multinational organisation in the healthcare sector for 7 years, where he delivered health information systems across the ASEAN and Middle East region.

Robyn has over 20 years’ experience in sustainability including sustainable strategy development, carbon, economic and environmental services. Prior to joining Net Balance, Robyn was Manager of the Environment & Resource Efficiency Plans program with the Environment Protection Authority of Victoria. She holds a Master of Environmental Science and a Doctorate from Monash University. Kate Macdonald is a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, having held previous positions at the London School of Economics and Political Science, the Australian National University, and Oxford University. She has conducted research and consultancy work for organisations including Amnesty International, ActionAid Australia, Oxfam Australia and the UK’s Corporate Responsibility Coalition. She is on the advisory board of the Jubilee Australia Research Foundation, and the editorial board of the journal Global Policy.

Jane is a supply chain professional in the broadest sense, and has spent time working in and across many functions within Asaleo Care, SCA Hygiene Australasia and ExxonMobil. Each new role has helped her develop a deep understanding of organisational systems and how they can be tweaked to create significant and beneficial change. Jane’s approach is grounded by her engineering background which influences her problem solving approach and influenced by her post-graduate studies in management, international economics and marketing. Asaleo Care (previously known as SCA HA) produces and markets consumer brands such as Sorbent toilet paper and facial tissue, Handee paper towel and Libra feminine hygiene. The sustainability imperatives for Asaleo Care are resource intensity and ethical sourcing, and they are currently the key areas of focus for me.

Fiona Mead is an experienced corporate lawyer and governance professional who has spent more than 15 years working in senior governance roles in ASX50 companies. Fiona was the Company Secretary at Asciano Limited from 2007 until recently and prior to that was the Assistant Company Secretary at Telstra Corporation Limited. Fiona is a fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a member of their Legislative Review Committee. Fiona has extensive knowledge of the ASX Listing Rules and the ASX Corporate Governance Principles. She has deep experience in all aspects of corporate reporting and in establishing best practice governance systems in relation to sustainability.

Anna is currently the General Manager of innovative recycling company TerraCycle in Australia & New Zealand. Prior to this she was a Solicitor employed at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and spent a number of years in the trade union movement as an Industrial and Campaigns Official. Anna was involved in the creation of GetUp! and was nominated as one of Australia’s Most Clickable Women! Anna spends all her spare time chasing after her two small boys.

As the Rainforest Alliance’s representative in Australia Anita Neville works with companies seeking certification to the sustainability standards the Rainforest Alliance endorses - FSC in forestry, Sustainable Agriculture Network in farming; helps companies who are sourcing from certified farms and forests to appropriately communicate that to consumers through use of the relevant seals and logos as well as through content generation. She has been involved in some of the Rainforest Alliance’s most visible collaborations with companies like Unilever, McDonalds, Mars and Gloria Jeans Coffees. Her background is in sustainability communications, translating environmental and social issues and challenges into creative communications that have changed laws, engaged the corporate sector and promoted more sustainable individual behaviour.

Having led over 120 climate change impact, risk assessment, adaptation and resilience project, Michael represented the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australian in developing the Australian Standard AS5334 Climate Change Adaptation for Settlements and Infrastructure and led the development of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN ISDR) City Disaster Resilience Scorecard in collaboration with IBM.

Irina Santiago-Brown completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide studying sustainability assessment methods and engagement in wine growing. She developed and implemented the McLaren Vale Sustainable Australia Winegrowing. Prior to this, Dr. Santiago-Brown spent fifteen years in international trade and foreign investment for the government of the state of Bahia in Brazil. She has a B.A. in Administration and a M.A. in International Relations and a M.Sc. in Viticulture. When not involved in assessing sustainability in vineyards, she and her husband dedicate their time to grow their own wine grapes and produce wines at Inkwell in McLaren Vale.

Liz Still is the Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at healthcare organisation Bupa. She has worked for Bupa for seven years in a myriad of roles through their charitable foundation, employee engagement programs, community partnerships and sustainability. Liz is part of the senior leadership team that assists Bupa in meeting their purpose of helping people live longer healthier happier lives to its over 16,000 employees, 4.5 million customers and the Australian and NZ community. Her previous work experience has seen her work across four different countries in industries such as telecommunications, finance and consultancy. Liz has an MBA from the London Metropolitan University and volunteers her time through various organisations close to her heart.

Prior to this, he was Managing Director of OgilvyEarth, the sustainability practice of Australia’s largest public relations company. He also spent eight years as a diplomat for the Australian Government, working as a senior negotiator in UN climate change negotiations and at the Australian Embassy in Iran. In 2012, he was elected co-Chair of the World Bank’s REDD+ Partnership on deforestation, a partnership of 70 countries aimed at reducing deforestation. He started out as a corporate strategy consultant in London, before he realised he could not work Excel.

His role is to engage, coordinate, develop and oversee management of partnerships with leading retailers, manufacturers and brands, traders and investors in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and aquaculture. This works forms part of WWF’s global market transformation initiative which seeks to change the way key global commodities are sourced, produced, processed, consumed and financed. Partnerships include sustainable commodity partnerships with ANZ, Blackmores, Bunnings, Coca-Cola, Coles Supermarkets, Kimberly-Clark, Officeworks, Simplot and Tassal – with the objective of catalysing the shift to responsible sourcing.

DR IAN WOODS AMP CAPITAL INVESTORS Dr Woods was appointed to Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research in October 2011 and was previously the Senior Research Analyst for the AMP Capital Investors Sustainable Alpha Fund. Ian has been instrumental in the establishment and continual development of AMP Capital’s approach to the integration of ESG issues into the investment processes of AMP Capital’s Australian and international equity and fixed interest funds. He also oversees the corporate governance and proxy voting of AMP Capital and its engagement with companies on ESG issues. In this role, Ian assesses the management of intangible assets and sustainable drivers of companies on the Australian Stock Exchange and engaging with these companies in these areas.
