MARCH 7th, 1997 was the day it all began — by accident. I was hand printing t-shirts after-hours at Parsons School of Design. It was simply a hobby of mine. A hobby until Deflon (the manager of Triple Five Soul at the time) placed the first ever order of Staple tees. (Twelve pieces to be exact.) It was that day, my birthday, that the snowball began to roll. Ten years later, that snowball rolls on. For the 10th Anniversary Collection, we wanted to celebrate with just some of the people that helped Staple get to where it is today. Peers, friends, colleagues, inspirational figures and everything in between. But it’s not just to celebrate them. It’s to celebrate the collaborative spirit itself. It’s to recognize the fact that you don’t get anywhere in this world on your own. The theme for Spring 2007 is ANAGRAMS. (A word or phrase formed by reordering the letters of another word or phrase.) I started becoming quite obsessed (before The Da Vinci Code, haha) that certain anagrams have relationships to one another. Coincidence or etymology? Hmmm... You’ll also notice that the anagrams have subtle relationships with the creators we have chosen to represent this collection. An aligning of planets, if you will. This 10th Anniversary Collection is a culmination of the blood, sweat and tears of many, many people. You know who y’all are. And you mean the world to me.
