G

N A M E L T EN It’s always difficult to style men, be it an occasion or a casual affair. The brainstorming you require is more than your partner. Not anymore! We have it all covered for you. So with the winter’s approaching, are you planning to cover yourself up in sweaters and scarves? Don’t! Wait till you read the best styling tips from GnG for the dreary-colourless winter months. Here are five style tips to cheating the gentleman look you always craved to adorn.

! p u t l i Qu Dump your boring V neck sweaters for a much classier, warmer quilt. Yes, we mean that. This season’s biggest winter trends are to stay warm by wearing a ‘six pack’ quilted jacket. It’s a quick thrown on jacket that’s easy to wear, and a big style up for all the fashion police that’s watching you. Our favourite are the GAS – Mens Sleeveless Regular Fit lightly quilted jackets available in fun colours. It helps uplift the winter mood, not making you look too bulky, Just enough to stay cozy and warm.

Frame them! A little black frame around your otherwise sultry eyes did no harm to anyone. An upcoming trend among men is to change, update and upgrade your eyewear. This is not about your sunglasses; it’s about your spectacles. It’s time to dawn the geek look and garner more attention. A man disguised under a frame is just like a hot pie ready to be eaten. Go ahead and try it out. The latest range of glasses from Vogue Eyewear is really trendy, suave for everyday wear and simple to carry your image of a corporate look without breaking any reputations.

! e i n a e J y n n i t n Sk e c S A ! s y a t that s If you’re wondering what you should buy from your first salary? Yes, splurge it on skinny jeans. Baggy is out, it’s time men look out for fit, structure and finesse in their denims too. A denim that fit like a dream is rare to find, so be ready to search for it. Ditch the usual black, and take a step up, spend it on a pair of coloured denims. Style it with contrasting colours or similar muted looks. Our favourite store is Zara, they make excellent denims, they have a beautiful structure, buy any in a camel or pista colour, and be rest assured to walk like you’re on the runway– because believe it or not, there’ll be thousands watching!

The YSL M7 Oud Absolu is a reworked version of the original M7 fragrance, that’s been a favourite amidst perfume collectors. This new fragrance, is simply a better sensory experience. With oud, patchouli, mandarin, myrrh and amber – is one of YSL’s best scents for men and a personal favourite of all my male friends. The warm, rich and uber sexy smell lasts longer than you expect it. And what’s a man without good perfume, right?

Adding a watch to your attire can really be the king takeaway for a woman. Whether you like it or not, in the age of smart phones, the watch is really just a fancy accessory. So, why not wrist it up? A recommended choice from us would be the reinvented piece of the timeless classic– Louis Vuitton’s Emprise Jewellery and Watch Collection. A black and white dial, with a shining steel body is what this watch is all about. While maintaining the simplicity of the dial, the new stainless steel jewels are worth every penny paid. Pointers for Spicing

H

Hectic schedules, hard core work life and a host of demanding challenges have made things tougher for couples. As a result , they end up with zero personal time and space for each other. This article will help abate the frustration that couples of today face to some extent. Some simple changes in your lifestyle can certainly pep up your personal life when it gets boring. There are quite a number of ways in which you can rebuild your relationship and get things to normal. However, a few listed below can help you well.

Do things Together By things we mean all things domestic and not at office or workplace. Cooking together can help refresh your mind and realize what the other person wants and is expecting. You can forgive each other’s mistakes, fore-go all the odds and move on with fresh outlooks about each other. And, of-course other than this, you can

14

Up Your Relationship

By Manisha Kodmur do plantation, watch TV, bathe your baby, and others. Bottom-line is , you get to spend time with each other, talk to each other and sort out many things. A popular brain chemical ‘dopamine’ responsible for retaining the feeling of being in love, is triggered when you spend quality time with your other half. And, this can be the best news for you.

Learn the Art of Acceptance In today’s times where men and women come face to face at all frontiers of life, it becomes easy for their egos to clash. Despite this, both the partners should adopt an easy attitude sometimes and switch to listening modes. On the other hand, if the partners feel that they are always right, then the both of them may fail to understand the right points put across. As per records, this has led to a maximum of separations

between the couples. Adopting the acceptance mode will automatically result in harmony and bliss among the partners. Therefore accept mistakes if you are at fault and forgive and give a chance, if your partner is at fault. Sometimes criticism works wonders and you’ll trace that out soon.

Socialize Surprisingly you may not realize how refreshing it is to pay visits to or meet other couples. There is of course a unique understanding that you have when you find your partner interacting with others. You some what get reminded of the good old days when you were attracted to your partner initially. Now, isn’t that a romantic gain? Many might feel that spending nights one on one is better than meeting other people, but the latter one turns out to be pleasantly rewarding at reviving your relationships.

Never Let Go Your Feelings Unnoticed Life always throws harsh times at you and perhaps puts you on your toes ,but that should only be outwardly. At an innermost level, you should be filled with an overwhelming feeling of wholesomeness and happiness of having been associated with your partner. No matter what your surroundings are, always be connected to your soul-mate and create romance. As part of this, never forget to express your concerns and feelings to your loved one. You can easily do so by sending romantic text messages and verbally expressing how much they mean to you. When you’re in public places, never forget to show gestures of love such as holding hands and putting your arms around her while walking.

Lastly ,Never Ignore Intimacy It is believed that the initial attraction you felt for your special one earlier may not remain throughout your relationship. As, a result, you may lose interest in sex or your relationship may lack that very intimacy one longs for. Hence , it is important to realize that you need to take out time for intimacy despite all the hurdles. Yes, expressing physically does help you realize how importantly your partner is for you. Because, it gives you an understanding that there is a unique bond that you and your partner share which others cannot . This, also helps release a hormone called oxytocin – which is responsible for retaining the feeling of being in oneness with someone.

Romantic interactions like these help keep your relationship going smoothly and also lets your partner realize the worth of your love.

How far have you reached in adding spice to your relationship? 1. Have food together? 2. Go for an outing together? 3. Once a week give space to each other? 4. Apply innovative techniques to spend the evening together? 5. Agree to each other’s opinion occasionally? Even if 3 of your options are in place for the relationship, it is moving tremendously well!

The Lady and Her Bag

S

By Soumya Suresh

Smile and style should always be on; this is the latest mantra of today’s generation. With style comes a sense of self-confidence, which people think they lack if they are not carrying something that is latest or “in fashion.” From latest clothes to trendy footwear and accessories, people want it all in their hands so that they look totally stylish and fashionable. Women have an obsession for bags which surpasses the obsession for any other accessory. They always keep their eyes on hot styles and designs of handbags and became more focused on following these latest fashion trends. There are just so many options when it comes to selecting a bag, and it does not end with a single handbag, they need different bags for different occasions. This & where having a good brand as your friend, philosopher and guide comes in handy. Da Milano offers an array of stylish handbags like hobo, clutch, tote, top handle or a simple shoulder bag. In fact, the demand for sling bags has tremendously increased. So, it is not about usage anymore, for women, bags are a style statement that creates a difference to their overall look. Bags give them confidence and more importantly, makes them ecstatic. The handbag one carries says a lot about you and it’s a great way to express your individuality. There is no single way to get your dose of style tips. Here are a few tips that’ll help you pick the right bag!

16

www.gngmagazine.in

a bright new collection from da milano! • The handbags must compliment your body type, the colour and design of your handbag should be versatile enough to go with more than one outfit. This ensures that you can mix and match them with the rest of your wardrobe without having to think twice about if the colors and style clash. • Next comes the choice of material, leather is a classic look that will work on everyone. With every new season, comes a range of fresh and exciting bag styles, make sure you pick a texture or pattern that suits your personal style more than what’s in fashion. Chic textures, animal patterns, metallic finish are some of the latest trends going on with outlook of any handbag.

• Try revisiting the old school times with an amazing collection of bag packs. Continuing with the tomboy trend, totes with block colors are also in these days and tweak it according to your needs. Wear a floral backpack, or simple leather cut. • A perfect look is incomplete without handbags, and can’t be ignored once you desire to have a unique style statement. You can carry a beige colour tote bag with your office wear or just a simple denim one when you are out with your friends. • Chained sling bags of soft colors like offwhite or baby pink, can complete your elegant look while you can use block colors like red or orange to make your look bold. Your party wear look can be complimented with an elegant diamond studded clutch, and a colourful one or a metallic finish that can serve your everyday look. Handbags are an essential element of any outfit, though all too often, the dress, shoes, and jewellery take precedence. Finding the right handbag for a dressy occasion is a matter of careful planning. Buyers should know what event the handbag is needed for and consider all of the available designs, from a simple clutch to a handbag. Know just how big the bag should be to comfortably accommodate everything the wearer needs to bring along. Then, match the handbag to the dress and other elements of an outfit.

NEVER FORGET YOUR HERITAGE :

H

RIZWAN BEYG

He loves Indian food, people, media, culture and especially the vibrant colors, which gives scope to experimentation. Ace Pakistani designer Rizwan Beyg is internationally known for his immaculate craftsmanship and contemporary cuts which makes his clothes loved not only in Pakistan but in India too. And that’s what made him showcase at recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week. He feels that Fashion is without boundary and to compete globally, one need to be traditionally rooted. Rizwan, during his visit to Mumbai Darshan post his show, talks with Rishabh Raj about his love for Indian colors, traditions, festivals and how he feels that India and Pakistan belongs to same diversified cultural heritage.

LAKME FASHION WEEK AND ME The response was tremendous and the moment I was on the ramp, I could actually feel the warmth and I was more than happy. The media, friends and market, everything was beyond expectation. For me, as a designer it was an honour to showcase my art at LFW. I remember, few months back, I was approached by Hello magazine and the PR company Pop Xo and I was proposed with a show at LFW. I never knew that this experience will have so lasting effect, I am quite satisfied. I think, this attempt is so genuine that art and creativity gets a new world to travel through and above all, you are exposed more to life and fashion under the same roof.

TRUCK ART: AN OBSERVATION This is quite interesting for me to share. Actually, I was stuck in a traffic jam for 40 minutes and I was all short-tempered and irritated, and suddenly I saw a truck in front and I was like Wow!!! This is so beautiful. The vibrant shades, fishes, birds and ethnic raw designs, it was so appealing. And the very moment I decided, this is amazing to be crafted on textile and it’s going to be a tribute to Indian culture and tradition. As India is all about color, tradition and culture, the vibrant shades, bollywood, and festivals (especially Holi) makes it (India) a true indigenous place. And my Truck Art was the best way to show my love and at the same time, I was very clear in my mind to do something Indo-western and nothing purely traditional. Initially, we started with the art form on bags, shoes and gradually it was placed on garments, sarees, jeans and jackets.

18

www.gngmagazine.in

NEED OF THE HOUR Western is at its best in fashion and that is because, they stick to their tradition. And we as growing industry need to understand this deeply. Whether its India or Pakistan, we need to be traditionally rooted and need to revise our traditional designs and art forms that are gradually being reflected on textile not even in our country but globally too. The Karigars, need to be skilled with perfection about our traditional art forms and motifs and to do that we as designers need to have hands-on with it and then join hands with the Karigars to help them improve and I am sure that will have a bang effect on global fashion platform, because I have realized that you cannot compete globally by going totally western, you need to have certain element of your cultural identity.

FASHION WITHOUT BOUNDARY In India and Pakistan we don’t have any differences in terms of fashion. We all come from the same heritage, we speak the same language, listen to the same kind of music, we are one. Yes, there is a slight difference between how the colors are worn in India and how they are treated in Pakistan. In India, colors are more vibrant and experimental, while Pakistan is slightly more conservative. Otherwise everything is very much similar. The cuts, the silhouettes and everything I presented here on ramp can be easily worn in Pakistan also. It was a universal global collection. And I think the best way to bridge the gap between both the countries is through fashion. Because fashion is without border and it is universal. It connects people regardless of where they live. So, in my perspective, fashion shows like Lakme and Wills are the best way to make all happy in a fashionable way and in correct context too. This is very beautiful and fruitful in every way.

HERITAGE TOUCH IS INEVITABLE I think young designers should not run behind the west, as they are best at it, because they believe In their identity. Here we also need to have faith and have element of our heritage and tradition. I suggest to take inspiration from western silhouettes but the designers should give it their flavor and I am sure that magic is gonna rule the world soon, if applied genuinely.

BOLLYWOOD BONANZA As, I said, India’s identity includes Bollywood, and it will be my pleasure and an honor to do Bollywood films. To be frank, it’s my first collection, and the show has reflected so much of confidence that I am very positive for my next visit to India. Even during the show, I had conversation regarding doing clothes for films, but nothing is materialized yet. And I don’t want to make any announcement, until and unless things are finalized and documented. Once the things fall in place, I will definitely do an official announcement, as it will be an exciting moment for me too.

FUTURE WITH RETAIL Lots of different shows, events, and exhibitions are happening internationally this year. I will be travelling more because of the shows. I am also concentrating on retail outlets. And if fashion trade opens up between Indian and Pakistan, I would love to open retail chain here too. I am optimistic and looking forward to have a great time ahead.

Jewellery has been a mainstay for every bride in India for uncountable decades. Be it a dazzling diamond-cut kundan choker or intricately carved gold temple jewellery. Ornaments have forever been associated with brides and weddings. Clustered lanes of traditions ( jewellers) glitter under incandescent lights, but who knew; a few Indian designers were conspiring against this and will replace it with their fierce creative genius. They took their inspiration from traditional elements and transformed it with their respective aesthetic understanding. One such jewellery couturier, who’s been shining like gold, is Mrinalini Chandra. As her models walk the ramp

20

www.gngmagazine.in

wearing kaliras, a maang-hawk, a choker that looks like a garden; you know that Chandra’s designs are for those who realise the meaning of freedom. She has helped free jewels from their traditionalist appearance, fused them with crafting techniques like Filigree, Rava Dori art of Jaipur and even basics such as the placement of Navratna gems on earrings that has been a part of the Indian a heritage for too many years– Chandra has done it all. Her first collection called ‘Please Have A Seat’ was inspired from chairs. Who would ever wonder, that wearing a piece of ‘chair’ would be fashion?

Her design philosophy is to take simple elements from her surroundings, draft them into complex pieces that give out an aura. Experimentation is the key to all her creations, and at that, she never fails to impress. A NIFT alumna whose love for couture is evident by bold designs and boisterous looks seen at fashion week. She came in like a storm in the industry, and had Bollywood and street style girls by her side after her debut collection at Lakme Fashion Week. The other big breakthrough in her career came when she’d taken a stance against jewellery being ruled by wedding or vice versa. She took out the ‘holy’ kaleeras, and changed their face for good. Quirky – multi-coloured kaleeras for your wedding, anyone? Chandra was apprehensive about touching this piece of jewellery as it has emotions and traditional purpose attached to it, but when she did, it was a sure stunner. In fact, it’s now when brides are wearing her ‘kaleeras’ that she realises she made the right decision by giving her idea a

go ahead. From ‘Please Have A Seat’ to Shankuntalam, Chandra’s creations have never been about mainstream fashion, Bollywood or the critics; her work is her natural progression as an artist and that is why she gets saluted by everyone. Her latest collection Shakuntalam, can be termed as a more mature and fascinating story that has been shown off. Call it what you may, but the strong use of craftsmanship makes her an industry veteran even though she’s not. The jewellery is made from Silver Based Metal and other with, Precious and semi-precious stones and metals. There are Colorful Moonga studded pieces that are finely handcrafted depicting the finesse of Lucknowi Art. This collection’s inspiration is Mother Nature, the untamed jungle and under water species. The resultant collection is made out of moths, wild flowers, jumping monkey’s, creepers, fishes prancing and birds with their wings open, and parrots sitting on a trapeze–all in gold. This time she avoided the need

to add colour, but adds technique to make her pieces stand out in terms of weight, their aesthetics and shape. She fuses monkeys with hearts and fishes with flowers, creating what could be called a ‘perfect mess.’ The collection is a standout and a clear winner, with the front row glitterati clapping at each model who strut the runway wearing bejewelled ornaments, each better than the other. Chandra is truly a revolution in terms of innovation, but it will be wrong to not identify several other who have carved a niche for themselves in the same field. Eina Ahluwalia, Outhouse jewellery, Social Butterfly, Valliyan by Nitya, and Prerto are the few names who have helped change the design sensibility in jewellery, breaking out from the usual diamonds and pearls. They brought to fore what this country desperately needed- A Jewellery Revolution.

5 Make up rends

that deserve a shopping haul!

As the winter slowly sets in, it’s time to hoard on some colour for your face, and hair. Here is a list of items we believe your vanity box must posses. Read on to find out:

Nude Blush:

Nude make up trend has been in for quite a while, but with the international runways reinventing it this season; a nude blush is something you must try. The easy make up trend goes with almost anything you wear, be it Indian or western, party wear or casual. Nude blushes are a saving grace for many women! We love: NARS Blush in Sex Appeal. This beige-y soft pink blush is light, long-wearing and really warms up the complexion so you don’t look as lifeless as some of the others. We also heart Clinique’s Quick Blush which is a clever tube that twists up like a lipstick to uncover a blush brush preloaded with powder cheek colour. The brush feels soft and picks up a fair amount of colour, leaving a rosy, matte flush on cheeks.

The future of nail paints is as tempting as eating your lipsticks and lip glosses! The new generation of lipsticks smell as good as they look. Imagine applying a coat of red paint on your fingers and along with it follows a beautiful fragrance of berries, cherries and more! Or may be a coat of pink rose while your heads smell of roses too! Imagine how good this would be. Our favourites are: Dior’s Garden Party nail polish collection gives smells of roses on a summer’s day. It includes shades like soft lavender and grassy green.Anna Sui’s polishes come in pretty rose bottles and smell just like the flower. And they’re super glossy. Revlon’s Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel—that is vibrant, shiny and releases a subtle fragrance when applied. The 15-shade collection is infused with essential oils and fragrances that are reminiscent of your daily perfume, ranging from fresh and fruity to sweet and woody.

Scented Nails:

Orange Lips: Orange is definitely the colour palette of the season, and it seems like there is no shortage of orange in the market as designers have created new hues of the colour every now and then. The biggest make up trend update you need this springsummer is to stock up on some Orange bars to apply, (and to eat, too). Our picks: Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Peach Club, Yves Saint Laurentpur couture No.13 and the Nars Casablanca.

Time to say goodbye to smokey eyes and say hello to bright hued big popping eyes. This year’s runway at Marc by Marc Jacobs saw some really beautiful model strutting the ramp in blue eye lids in about four or five shades. The trend instantly became a rage, and is the next best thing to getting ‘IT’ eyes. They not only highlight your eyes, but let your eyes do the talking! What we recommend: The Bourjois Smoky Trio Eyeshadow-11 (Blue Jeans) has three colours, perfect to apply individually or as a combination. We also love the Electric Eel (Satin) powdered eye shadow by MAC; it’s all drama and no fuss!

Blue Eye Shadow:

Temporary Hair Colour: The product of the year is here! Runway looks were never easier! This fab product allows you to be punk one day and chic, classy the very next day. It’s a temporary wash-off spray that’s available in a host of colours. Our absolute alltime favourite is the BBlunt’s new range of styling products called One Night Stand available in a host of shades, but again we love the Blue Velvet! Time to pop some colour on your hair and make the dull drab winters a little more exciting!

Bridal/ festive season and winters Make up Tips by Guneet Virdi

We tend to have a very bad skin in winters due to dehydration or dryness. For flawless makeup first we need to treat our skin very well in winters with the process of cleaning, toning and lot of moisturizing , and the products depends on skin type. Also facials or cleaning plays a very important role in winters since it helps the skin to glow instead of dullness.

1 2

Minimum 2 facials required before getting married for a healthy skin and also a diet full of nutrition is a must with lot of water intake.

3

Applying primer is really important before applying base since it will help to make our base stay for a longer time and the type of primer applied will give the matte or dewy look whichever required.

4 5 6 7 8

When you have good skin, makeup will enhance the features and will make your skin glow more.

Concealing and applying the base according to the skin color is really important so that the skin looks health and not pale or dark. Applying dark colors in winter looks amazing like we can go for darker lip shade like maroon , dark pink, brown, coffee color etc. If not dark lips then preferring dark eyeshadows at the ends or smokey eyes would enhance the features with a thick black eye kohl and liner. Heavy mascara and then false lashes will add drama to the eyes. Blusher can be in the darker tone of the lip color chosen.

Tulsi Kumar She is young, versatile and confident. Singer Tulsi Kumar started her journey with music at the age of 6, when her father Gulshan Kumar found her humming the songs and decided to train her in classical music. And today when she has made it to the music industry, she believes that now, her only aim is to live the dream of her father for her becoming a successful singer. In conversation with Rishabh Raj, Tulsi speaks about her ineffable connection with music, her father and how the remix and live shows have made the play back singers a household name

Q

Q. Let’s talk about your childhood days, your association with music and family connection with music industry.

Black Flower Gown, Sikander Nawaz ;

36

www.gngmagazine.in

I was quite an introvert as a child. I had a strong bent towards music and dance. I was my father’s pet and I still remember when I was around 6 I used to watch television and hum songs .My father used to stand outside the door and hear me. And it was he, who told my mom that I have a sweet voice and should be given formal training in light classical music. So at that tender age he understood my love for music. And admitted me to Suresh Wadekar ji’s academy, and from there my musical journey began which continues till today and must go on forever. As we all know my father was an ardent lover of music and he also had a great vision for spotting talented musicians and artists. I have a quaint memory of him playing the music of various films like Aashiqui, Dil hai ki manta nahin, Sadak etc at home during my childhood days, and introducing various new singers like Kumar

Sanu ,Anuradha Paudwal, Vipin Sachdeva to name a few. Definitely the atmosphere at home was extremely musical and today also the legacy (created by my father Sh. Gulshan Kumar) continues where my brother Bhushan has taken over in a big way and is doing his level best in making my father proud with his great musical sense and business tact.

Q. Was it pre-determined in your mind to make career in music because of your family background or you had some other plans too? I never had any set of plan. But I always loved music and as I said I started learning light classical at a very young age and used to always take part in singing competitions in school. I have grown with music and definitely wanted to take it forward to the next level by getting into playback. Moreover in the journey I unfortunately lost my father and definitely wanted to live his dream of me becoming a singer and making him proud.

GnG cover story Q. If you would have entered in the industry 20 Q. Let’s talk about your journey in the industry, years back, with what song you would have started how it has been? When did your first break happen? It’s been a great learning experience and a fun journey till and why? Well if that was the case then definitely it would be with the songs of AASHIQUI. This project was produced by my father and was a complete musical film. Each and every song of the film is still remembered and hummed by people. The romance and purity of this music truly touches ones soul. If given a chance I would have started by rendering those soulful romantic numbers for sure.

now. I have got an opportunity to work with some very good music composers like Anu Malik , Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam, Sajid-Wajid, Salim-Sulaiman, Mithoon, Meet brothers to name a few. Every composer has his unique style of making a singer render their composition and I have learnt a lot from all of them in terms of style, bariki( minutes), expression and feel. I have indeed grown as an artist with every song of mine.

My debut song was called ‘Janabe Janiya’ from the film AKSAR .It was deut with Himesh Reshammiya. Himeshji helped me during the dubbing since it was my first song for a film and I was quite nervous. Also a promotional video was shot for this song and it was really liked and appreciated by my listeners. And when your first song gets a good response it really boosts your confidence. So things fell into place and I got a good entry in the music fraternity.

Q. Belonging to a family of great musicians, was it challenging for you to mark yourself in the industry or it was easier? Well, when you come from such an illustrious family background, there are lots of expectations that one has to live up to, and one is always under scrutiny. Getting an initial break is easy but to sustain yourself in the industry, one needs to strike a chord with listeners which is of utmost importance. I have been totally blessed and received appreciation and adulation from my listeners. My training in music for years, my love and passion for music has got me to the position I am today. I would say, I am extremely fortunate to belong to this family where I have inherited music from my father but at the same time I am proud of the fact that I have created my own niche through my hard work and will always work harder.

performance) we sing and perform for our listeners. We get to see their direct response for the songs and can feel connected instantly. It’s definitely a different high when you perform live. A feeling that can be expressed as…Yeh Zameen Gaa rahi hai, Aasmaan gas rah a hai….Saath mere yeh saara jahaan gaa raha hai.. :)

Q. Remix and rap have overpowered the song of 80’s and 90’s. Your take on the trend. I believe it’s only because of remix, that people of this generation have started recognizing the old songs. Although, the songs of that generation are eternal and evergreen, but the preference of today’s crowd is of faster pace. More than the lyrics they are attracted by beats and tunes. I believe this trend is temporary and the old school music will never fade out.

Q. Apart from your father, whom do you idolize in the industry and why? Well, I truly idolize my father in every sense, whether it was his dedication and passion towards his work or his down o earth attitude and simplicity as a human being. I see the same qualities in my brother Bhushan that I really look up to. In the music field I worship Lataji (Lata Mangeshkar). For me she is not only an institution of music in herself, but in true sense ‘The Goddess of Music’. Her purity, serenity and devotion towards music is something I really admire.

Q. How do you choose a Bollywood project? Is it easier to say yes or no? Of course saying No is painful. Every singer has his/ her comfort zone. But to deviate from that and trying something new shows an artist’s versatility. My comfort zone lies in doing romantic songs, but I have started experimenting with a lot of fun and fast paced peppy tracks in my upcoming projects. I pick those songs that I know I will be able to do justice to.

Q. Today singers have stretched themselves from playback to live shows, what changes you feel have made this happen? Being singer, the utmost important thing for us is to have a connection with the listeners. Singing in a recording studio and singing live in front of an audience are two different experiences. In the studio we record the song keeping in mind the music directors specifications and the film situation, above all, more technicalities are involved in the studio recording process. GnG cover story Q. Any dream project that is yet to be accomplished? I don’t know what defines a dream project but I just wish to do some great music and songs that stays with my listeners forever.

Q. How do you define success? It’s just the beginning and I have long way to go. With my experience in the fraternity I feel, success to me is outdoing yourself rather than competing with others.

Q. What is you mission statement? I am very much work driven, so my mission statement would be ‘Work harder and harder’ till you achieve and succeed. Once you achieve then also don’t stop, keep the fire burning, because that will keep you alive.

Q. Your future plans. At present I am doing a couple of movies including Leela, Roy and Kunal Kohli’s next project. I am also collaborating on a song with a UK based singer Arjun. Apart from that I have pushed the envelope and turned into a voice over artist for a new kids channel launch, it is about education on YouTube, and is called KIDS HUT. It was a great learning experience being part of the project.

Q. Talk about your fashion and style statement. I like experimenting with fashion on a regular basis, but on the other hand I keep it as minimal as it can be. My comfort matters the most and I will never move out of my comfort zone just to be fashionably updated.

GnG Health & FITNESS Cardiorespiratory Endurance There are two parts of cardiorespiratory endurance while performing an exercise: How efficient your heart and lungs are at delivering oxygen to your body. How efficient your body is at creating the ATP, or energy, your muscles need in order to contract. Activities that can help improve your cardiorespiratory endurance include those that cause an elevated and safe heart rate for a sustained period. These activities include swimming, brisk walking, jogging, and cycling. It is important to begin these activities slowly and gradually increase the intensity.

FITNESS talk with

Prince J singh (Assistant Fitness Manager, Fitness First)

WHAT IS FITNESS? Fitness has various definitions, and dimensions. Everyone has different perception about fitness in his or her mind. According to my MOM, “Fitness means leading healthy lifestyle, without diseases.” For some others:“Fitness means doing daily activities, and not getting tired”, “Fitness means, no pain or injuries, or joint pains”, “Fitness means, running a marathon” “Fitness means, being flexible” Good thing is that, all of above is right. Our body is designed to move, and when we enhance the functionality of our body with help of different combinations of workouts, that is developing FITNESS.

42

www.gngmagazine.in

What specific attributes make people fit? Physical fitness is also defined as “a set of qualities that people have or achieve that relates to the ability to perform physical activity”. This description goes beyond being able to run long distance or lift a lot at the gym. Fitness is more than simply a question of listing which activities you do or how long you do them for. Despite being important, these attributes only address single areas of fitness. Let’s briefly talk about the main components of physical fitness, which include:

Muscular strength is the ability of muscle to exert force during an activity. You can strengthen your muscles by making them work against resistance, hence the term “resistance training”. A muscle has to be overloaded to be strengthened, and this can be achieved by lifting weights, as well. It is recommended to start with a resistance of around 60-70 percent of the maximum weight, then slowly move to lift heavier as you proceed. Doing 3-9 repetitions with appropriate weight through 3-5 sets gives effective muscular benefits.

Muscular endurance Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle to continue exerting force without tiring out. This type of training helps develop the slow twitch fibers in your muscles. As opposed to hard twitch fibers, slow twitch fibers handle low levels of force over relatively long periods.

Body Composition The relative amounts of muscle, bone, and fat make up body composition, i.e. the body’s muscle-bone-fat ratio. Despite someone’s weight not changing, that does not mean that their level of fat is the same. People with a high muscle (lean mass) ratio weigh more than those with the same height and waist circumference who have less muscle. Muscle weighs more per cubic inch of volume than fat.

How to get started. Now as we know that fitness is important for our lifestyle. Lets se how we can get started to lead a fitter lifestyle.

1. Assess your fitness level You probably have some idea of how fit you are. But assessing and recording baseline fitness scores can give you benchmarks against which to measure your progress. To assess your aerobic and muscular fitness, flexibility and body composition, consider recording: 1.Your pulse rate before and after you walk 1 KM. 2.How long it takes to walk/jog 2 KM. 3.How many pushups you can do at a time. 4.How far you can reach forward while seated on the floor with your legs straight in front of you. 5.Your waist circumference as measured around your bare abdomen just above your hipbone.

2. Design your fitness program It’s easy to say that you’ll exercise every day. But you’ll need a plan. As you design your fitness program, keep these points in mind: 1. Consider your fitness goals. Are you starting a fitness program to help lose weight? Or do you have another motivation, such as preparing for a marathon? Having clear goals can help you gauge your progress. 2. Create a balanced routine. Most adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity — or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity — a week. Adults also need two or more days of strength training a week. 3. Go at your own pace. If you’re just beginning to exercise, start cautiously and progress slowly. If you have an injury or a medical condition, consult your doctor or a qualified Fitness Trainer for help designing a fitness program that gradually improves your range of motion, strength and endurance. 4. Build activity into your daily routine. Finding time to exercise can be a challenge. To make it easier, schedule time to exercise as you would any other appointment. Plan to watch your favorite show while walking on the treadmill, or read while riding a stationary bike.

5. Plan to include different activities. Different activities (cross-training) can keep exercise boredom at bay. Crosstraining also reduces your chances of injuring or overusing one specific muscle or joint. Plan to alternate among activities that emphasize different parts of your body, such as walking, swimming and strength training.

3. Assemble your equipment

or gentle stretching. Then speed up to a pace you can continue for five to 10 minutes without getting overly tired. As your stamina improves, gradually increase the amount of time you exercise. Work your way up to 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Break things up if you have to. You don’t have to do all your exercise at one time. Shorter but more-frequent sessions have aerobic benefits, too. Fifteen minutes of exercise a couple of times a day may fit into your schedule better than a single 30-minute session. Be creative. Maybe your workout routine includes various activities, such as walking, bicycling or rowing. But don’t stop there. Take a weekend hike with your family too. Listen to your body. If you feel pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or nausea, take a break. You may be pushing yourself too hard. Be flexible. If you’re not feeling good, give yourself permission to take a day or two off.

You’ll probably start with athletic shoes. Be sure to pick shoes designed for the activity you have in mind.

5. Monitor your progress

If you’re planning to invest in exercise equipment, choose something that’s practical, enjoyable and easy to use. You may want to try out certain types of equipment at a fitness clubs before investing in your own equipment.

Retake your personal fitness assessment six weeks after you start your program and then again every three to six months. You may notice that you need to increase the amount of time you exercise in order to continue improving. Or you may be pleasantly surprised to find that you’re exercising just the right amount to meet your fitness goals.

6. Allow time for recovery. Many people start exercising with frenzied zeal — working out too long or too intensely — and give up when their muscles and joints become sore or injured. Plan time between sessions for your body to rest and recover. Put it on paper. A written plan may encourage you to stay on track.

4. Get started Now you’re ready for action. As you begin your fitness program, keep these tips in mind: Start slowly and build up gradually. Give yourself plenty of time to warm up and cool down with easy walking

If you lose motivation, set new goals or try a new activity. Exercising with a friend or taking a class at a fitness club may help, too. Prince J singh is a Master Trainer/ presenter LesMills (bodycombat, bodypump)

nutritional value of GREEN TEA

T

By Dr. M. Sharma

Today people are talking about green tea, a lot. Every second person talks about green tea regarding weight reduction. But it’s not just beneficial for weight reduction, there are other benefits also.

Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and researches states that it contains the highest concentration of antioxidants called polyphenols. Green tea is believed to have been discovered by the Chinese over 4000 years ago and used for its herbal and medicinal properties. It comes from a plant named Camellia Sinensis. Green tea has been consumed throughout the ages in India, China, Japan, and Thailand. In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, people used green tea as a stimulant, diuretic (to promote the excretion of urine), astringent (to control bleeding and help heal wounds), and to improve heart health. Other beneficial uses of green tea include treating flatulence (gas), regulating body temperature and blood sugar, promoting digestion, and improving mental health.

Lets discuss the benefits of green tea one by one...... it’s great to know about what you are consuming rather than just consuming them ....

REDUCE STRESS -

Among its many biological activities, the predominant polyphenols in green tea - EGCG, EGC, ECG, and EC, have antioxidant activity. These chemicals, especially EGCG and ECG may protect cells from DNA damage. A research done in 2003 states that tea polyphenols inhibit tumor cell proliferation and induce apoptosis .

A 2009 study done in Japan, on the effects of green tea on stress, studied the lifestyles of 42,093 individuals over the age of 40, and assessed their psychological distress based on their lifestyle factors. The research showed that study participants who had an average consumption of five or more cups of green tea per day, had lower psychological distress than participants who drank one or less cups of tea per day.

LOWERING CHOLESTEROL Recent findings revealed that green tea can help reduce bad cholesterol (LDL), although only slightly. Researchers from China, Xin-Xin Zheng and his team of the Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China conducted a study and poll of the 14 studies on green tea. In each study the researchers randomly divided participants into two groups, i.e. groups who drank green tea and the group that received no green tea (Control group). The study showed that those from the green tea group had decreased total cholesterol by 7.2 mg / dl and LDL or bad cholesterol by 2.2 mg / dl as compared to control group. While there was no difference in the value of good cholesterol (HDL) in the two groups. The active ingredients which helps in lowering cholesterol is catechins, which reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine.

REDUCE THE RISK OF STROKE -

Before we start with benefits, it is really important to understand what are antioxidants? Antioxidants help in reduction of free radicals produced during the normal process of oxidation. In layman terms, oxidation is like the corrosion of metals due to exposure to air or other elements. The same process takes place in our human body which leads to damage of our tissue cells. So antioxidants prevent our cell from damage and keep them healthy. It prevents our body from all sorts of diseases, including heart disease, cancers, and Alzheimer’s. Smoking and alcohol consumption, poor diet, stress and pollutants in the environment all contribute to oxidative damage. So to prevent this oxidative damage, our body required antioxidants.

GREEN TEA AND WEIGHT LOSS In journal obesity (2009), a research paper was published on effects of catechin enriched green tea on body composition stated that regular consumption of green tea has significant and positive effect on body composition in moderately overweight individuals. The 90-day trial, conducted at Fudan University, in Shanghai, China, funded by the Lipton Institute of Tea, supported the existing evidence that green tea has a significant beneficial effect on body composition in Asian populations. The study showed that, subjects consumed green tea with the highest concentration of catechins for 90 days has significant decrease in body weight, waist circumference, intra-abdominal fat as compared to the control group who consumed no green tea.

A study published in the journal Stroke (2009), concluded that high intake of green tea can reduce the risk of ischemic stroke in a southern Chinese population. A meta-analysis published in 2009, analyzing the results from 9 different studies, found an astonishing 21% decrease in stroke risk. This is the result with drinking 3 cups of green tea a day.

PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES Green tea polyphenols have been extensively studied as cardiovascular disease in vitro and in animal studies. A study done in 2006 called as The Ohsaki Study having an objective to investigate the associations between green tea consumption and all-cause and cause-specific mortality. The study was conducted on 40,530 Japanese adults aged 40 to 79 years without history of stroke, coronary heart disease, or cancer. Participants were followed up for up to 11 years (1995-2005) for all-cause mortality and for up to 7 years (1995-2001) for cause-specific mortality. Results showed that Green tea consumption is associated with reduced mortality due to all causes and due to cardiovascular disease.

TOOTH LOSS A study reviewed by Yasushi Koyama, from Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine (Japan), and colleagues assessed data compiled from 25,078 people, ages 40 to 64 years, who participated in the Ohsaki Cohort 2006 Study. The study showed that the participants who drank one to two cups of green tea per day reduced the risk of tooth loss by 18%. Five or more cups of green tea daily was associated with around 23% reduction in tooth loss risk. The study revealed that green tea catechins may inhibit the action of oral bacteria linked to development of periodontal disease.

BRAIN POWER Decline of brain function with aging is a scientific fact. It is attributed to the failure of brain cells to regenerate. However, a study conducted on 1,003 Japanese in 2006 who are more than 70 years old concluded that those who consume more green tea showed lesser instances of decrease brain function. The study revealed that those who consume green tea at least six times weekly have a 38% lesser chance of cognitive impairment than those individuals who have only consumed green tea three times a week.

MODERATION IS THE KEYThe most important word is moderation... 3 - 4 cups of green tea in a day is fine but not more than that as green tea also have side effects... Several studies have linked green tea with liver damage dangers. Green tea can also interact with many drugs. If you are being treated with any of the following medications, you should not drink green tea or take green tea extract without consulting from health professional: Adenosine, Antibiotics, Beta-lactam, Benzodiazepines, Beta-blockers, Propranolol, and Metoprolol, Blood Thinning Medications (Including Aspirin), Chemotherapy, Clozapine, Ephedrine, Lithium, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), Oral Contraceptives , Phenylpropanolamine.

LEATHER LINGUISTICS Whether it’s Kate Moss’s cool vibe in biker jacket or cleavage show of Kim Kardashian in leather dress, what matters is the choice of mask for the season and it’s definitely the gleaming ‘Leather’. With rocket speed popularity the flimsy leather has become in-trend material for the season and provides you a platform to experiment with it as a fabric. With wide scope for experimentation in outer and inner wear, leather in combination with technology has given the designers a way to play and be innovative. Asa Kazingmei’s latest winter collection ‘CHANGVEI’ is one of the best examples for those who want to look wild with shimmer. Clubbed with lots of studs, chains, boots and quirky accessories one can walk down the lanes this winter. Asymmetric pieces amalgamated with zips and harness can give leather a sophisticated look to the lady of spirit. On a serious note, leather is not only being a beneficiary for the fashion market but has also contributed to our economy. As per the Council for Leather Export, in the financial year 2013-14, Indian leather sector has scaled new heights and touched an all time high value of USD 6 billion. Celebrating the success, GLAM and GLAZE captured some best combination in leather for the season that can be accessorized with statement ring, palm ring, handcuff and funky neckpieces. The detailed smoky make-up with lots of mascara is the highlight for the woman of today, who is determined and focused. Lots of textured leather with perfect thread finish makes it a must for the winters, as it can be used a layer to complete the look and at the same time it works as a statement garb for the chilling winter evening. And those who can dare to wear it in office need to be on the edge, as overdo can ruin the look and turn you commit a faux pax. Ironically, leather making the fashion market gorgeous and beautiful has a painful saga of its existence. Though with the change in time and in upgraded fashion market, substitutes have been developed, still the origin has a painful existence. But, above all this, the fact of making the world beautiful overpowers all the twinge and what we see and believe is the shimmering layer of art of dressing. Ramses. Exodus Gods and Kings, tells the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects (actually, way too much CGI), Ridley Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant Jewish leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 Jewish slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues. Very odd that Hollywood would choose a Caucasian, Joel Edgerton, to play Ramses/Pharaoh of Egypt, who in real life was fifty shades of brown. Really ridiculous. Vin Diesel would have been the perfect choice.

Neil Bhoopalam

Radio to television and from television to silver screen, Neil Bhoopalam has made it all with his talent and is open to do every type of role as long as it inspires him to do so. After his unconventional role in ‘No One Killed Jessica’ and ‘Shaitan’, he thinks that he was lucky enough to bag NH 10 while he was shooting for ‘Ungli’, where he plays the role of a digital expert to fight against the system. Rishabh Raj catches up with the self-motivated actor as he waits his two next releases

Q

Let’s talk about your early days and background.

To be frank, for me, things have flowed from one to another. I was a college student and Radio was my first job. I remember, one day I got off air and went back to college and Atul Kumar was auditioning for a new play ‘Voice’. I did a short monologue and was welcomed into the cast post audition. And since then there was no looking back. After a series of stage productions followed by hosting for Channel V, films were inevitably the next logical step in my professional career. So far, the journey has had many ups and downs and I hope it stays that way, because it keeps you alive and as an actor those hardship polishes you to be more natural on screen.

Again, you will be seen in an unconventional role in Ungli, let’s talk about it. ‘Ungli’ is a film about a group of vigilantes who are fed-up with the

56

system. They want to fight with the system. I am playing the role of a digital expert. The film is in actiondrama realm and fair amount of physical training went into the part. I remember, during the shoot, I did lot of cross-fit while training.

went through a few changes and by the time they were good to go on floor, so was I. To be precise, NH 10 is a thriller about two urban city people who leave town on a road trip.

I was on the set and was shooting for Renzil D’Silva’s ‘Ungli’, when I got a call from Vikramaditya Motwane. He told me that they were doing a film being directed by Navdeep Singh. The team looked amazing and I remember I had a great chat with Navdeep too at his office regarding the project. I found the role very interesting, but I couldn’t commit to the film at that time as I was balancing Dharma Productions film and ‘24’ was about to start. It was going to be grueling schedule for my body and there was issue with date too. Luckily, what worked as an advantage for me was when the film

I knew Anushka before I collaborated for the project. Off the set, she is a genuine human and if you ask me about her as an actress, Anushka is an adventurous feisty young A-list actress. She not only plays the role, but before that she tries to understand the logic behind the role scripted and accordingly she adapts it. And if you observe it on screen, it is visible too. For me, working with her has been a real fun I have ever had on any film set ever, as she is lively and she don’t throw tantrums on the set. She is very down to earth.

After sharing screen with Tell us about your character in NH Anushka in NH 10, what’s your 10, and what made you sign it? take on her as an actress?

How is Navdeep as a director? Are you a director’s actor or you believe in giving your inputs too?

Navdeep as a director is an amazing person. Working with Navdeep has been the most fun and learning experience for me. As a director, he allowed me to experiment with my character and that helped me to make it more natural and not a scripted one. And I really appreciate this quality, because that space allows an actor to introspect and do justice to the role.

In future, as an actor, would you like to do formula films or you want the unconventional roles to be your identity.

See, for an actor the worst thing is to bind himself/herself in a particular genre. An actor by its nature is supposed to be open for every type of role. I do agree that actors have some forte, but that does not mean that one should never try. Particularly for me, in this industry, I am open to everything as long as it inspires me to do.

Apart from acting, what’s Neil passionate about?

(Umm…) I am not a hobby person. When I am free, I love to spend time with my family, cook for them, and catch up with friends and travel.

The Pensive

Decor Decoded Depicting the life journey where we come alone and then enjoy various phases of life with our loved ones, The Spice Route is a true amalgamation of architecture and philosophy. Designed and developed by the renowned cultural czar of India, Rajeev Sethi, the place is a marvel that offers unique dining experience in a distinctively beautiful setting which is completely hand painted with vegetable and flower dyes by mural painters, brought in especially from Kerala. Divided into nine sections, the first section ‘Knowledge’ depicts the early lessons learnt in life. The second one is further divided into Artha, Kama and Moksha which depicts the journey starting from materialism followed by deriving pleasure from lust leading to moksha. All this is depicted through Kamasutra positions and a moksha mural on the ceiling. An asymmetrical pattern of wooden beams distracts you to get a full view of the moksha mural, which is symbolic to hurdles of life. As the tour guide further explains, the next area opens to ‘Health and Support’ section which has an antique ceiling and hanging brass lamp at the centre, which is supposed to be lit by the

The Spice Route Open the dark glass door and you are in another world of ancient archeological site where the wooden and concrete pillars from 16th century welcome you with vibrant art forms. Stone sculptures and murals depicting mythological gods and goddesses fill the walls and are amalgamated with soft lights which give pleasure to eyes and soul too. Ahhh!!! As we stepped at the entrance of The Spice Route at The Imperial, we observed the unusual entrance with pillar décor which allows only one individual to enter at a time with the logic so close to life, because in the journey of life we enter the world alone and exit alone. That’s how our journey to the magnificent boat of food and culture started. Sumptuous, warm and delectable for winters, the healthy and all time famous winter collection menu by Chef Veena Arora offers an eclectic mix of recipes from the South-East Asian kitchen at The Spice Route. Indulge in this sea food special, nutritional cuisine to keep yourself cosy this winter at our world famous restaurant which offers a wide variety of dishes made out of king prawns, squids, lobster and variety of fishes, making your dining experience extremely palatable and delightful. Epicureans can choose from the concept dishes like DHALLO MIRIS TEMPERADU - Devil fried squid rings with paprika powder, tomato and Worcestershire sauce, Srilankan style which is a perfect appetiser. Main course features PHAD PHRIK PLA MERK – Wok fried octopus wit chillies, green pepper, Krashai and basil in Thai Oyster sauce and MEEN BIRYANI- Kerala style rice cooked with fish.

head of the family, as they are the one who shows us the path of life. After this the next area opens into our favorite space of the restaurant, ‘Creativity’, where there is an incomplete mural on the wall, which has been placed with a logic to allow the diner to complete it with their imagination and interestingly the kitchen of the restaurant too is boarded beyond this mural wall, which is also a space dedicated to creativity. As we proceed, we witness the mural of goddess Annapurna and lord Ganesha with door adjacent to each. And when explored the reason, the answer was surprising and impressive too. Further to this is the ‘Relationship’ section which offers space for only couples and each table is separated through a wooden pillar which means that there is no space for third. Most importantly, this is the only part of the restaurant that has a stone column symbolic of stronger partner in life. Next is ‘Fate and Fortune’, section which has murals of all the nine planets that rule our fortune in a massive wooden framework on the wall. Interestingly, few of these art pieces on the wall are replaceable, which symbolizes that hard work can change our fortune. As we move to the brighter area, it is ‘Wealth’ section where the walls and the ceiling are polished with 24-karat gold. It also has a glass wall with the Ramayana written in ancient Thai script on sheets of gold. This section has a golden crown which is considered as lucky charm by Thai people. Next to this is ‘Ancestral’ section, with stone sculptures from various Thai temples. Most creative thing about this area is that the entire restaurant is visible from this section and it symbolizes that our forefathers are always watching our deeds. Last but the most important section is the ‘Food and Health’ section which gives the feel of having a meal in the open courtyard of a traditional Kerala house, right in the centre of the restaurant.

Chef De Cuisine: Veena Arora Chef De Cuisine of The Spice Route, Veena Arora, is an expert in Thai food and calls her love for Thai food forever. She joined The Imperial as Consultant Chef to help the team but gradually became an inseparable part of Spice Route and has been designing its world renowned platter since the time the restaurant came into existence. She feels that her love for Thai food and ability to play with flavors has helped her to make it large. As Thai food is not spicy as compared to generic Indian food, so keeping that in mind she had been redefining the platter for Indian customer for more than a decade. Tracing the journey of the spices from the Malabar Coast in Kerala through Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia to Thailand and Vietnam, her dedicated team attempts to integrate the classics and the day-to-day dishes from these belts into one gourmet affair by leveraging on Veena’s expert palate and her sound skills that she has inherited from her mother.

Winter Delight This winter indulge in the sea food special to keep yourself cozy. When asked about the winter collection for the customers this winter, Chef Veena called for the tempting sea food platter which offered an eclectic mix of recipes from the South-East Asian kitchen. The wide variety of dishes made out of king prawns, squid, lobster and variety of fishes made the dining plate extremely palatable and delightful. The appetizer included Dhallo Miris Temperadu (devil fried squids with paprika powder, tomato and Worcestershine sauce in Srilankan style) which we felt was the perfect appetizer. While the main course featured Phad Phirk Plamerk(wok fried octopus with chilies, green pepper, krashai and basil in Thai Oyster sauce, and Meen Biryani (Kerala style rice cooked with fish). After experiencing the special winter platter we felt that the menu is conceptualised in such a way that all the dishes and ingredients are perfectly suited for winter season. The menu has Srilankan, Malaysian, Vietnamese and off course Thai creations for a wholesome and healthy sea food experience. The ingredients are high on health quotient and can keep you warm in winters while going extremely well with catch from the sea. Savour this healthy and delectable menu for an impeccable dining experience. Keep Eating, Stay Healthy!!!

GnG Food & Travel Special tips for Maafushi: Stingray Beach Inn has a couple of excellent packages till December 15 and have a couple of rooms next. They’re almost right on the beach and have some wonderful facilities, so sun, sands, relaxation, snorkelling, underwater paradise, local colour – they tick all the boxes. Arena Lodge hasn’t announced any winter packages so far and it’s a small establishment with just a handful of rooms, but they’re comfortable and you can expect brilliant service. They’re two of the most recommended budget accommodations on the island and they won’t be a secret for much longer, so you’ll have to hurry! Now, let’s say budget is no consideration. You want to have fun and you’ll pay for it because it’s worth it. We’ve got you covered: you should head right for one of the bigger resorts. Most resorts in the Maldives are set on private islands. Staying at one is like living a millionaire’s life for slice of time, they take care of everything for you. You land in Male, and you’ll have air taxi or sea plane waiting to whisk you away to your island resort. From then on, your wish is their command. You want to laze on the beach, or sit on the balcony of your cottage and look out into the ocean, with a bottomless glass of mojito by your side? They’ll make it happen. Would you rather spend the entire time underwater and exploring the incredible coral reefs? They’ll make that happen, too. If you go around Christmas and New Year’s, they’ll throw the kind of party that will start your year off with a real bang. There really are no wrong choices as far as the resorts are concerned, but we’ll start you off with a few recommendations. Bandos Island Resort is one of the relatively less expensive ones (about Rs. 20,000 a night), where you can stay in comfortable beach huts. Kurumba (closer to Rs. 25,000 a night) has a resort that will leave you wanting for nothing, and is lovely for families, since they arrange for a fairly

Mind-blowing

Maldives By Sarah

Winter holidays are right around the corner, and now that Diwali is over, you have no more excuses for procrastination. Snow is overrated and clichéd, especially when you consider that you don’t really want to spend your entire holiday huddled in the heated indoors because it’s freezing outside. Think about somewhere sunny, with lots of beaches and absolutely gloriously warm sunshine, underwater kingdoms waiting for you to explore them, complete with treasures for you to find. Think Maldives – it’s got everything and then some. There’s plenty to choose from once you’ve decided that you’re going to treat yourself and your loved ones to a week in heaven, for that is what it will be. There are about 2000 islands that together form the Maldives, and about 200 of them are inhabited, while about 80 are resort islands developed specifically for tourists. Some inhabited islands are now open for tourism, so that’s where you should head if you want an authentic experience of the Maldives that includes getting to know the people there. It’ll be a bit different from the tourist Maldives – there could be restrictions on what you can wear, what you can drink and where you can drink it on inhabited islands. If you’re going for a no-holds-barred time of a lifetime, head for the island resorts where really, they know what noholds-barred really means. Experiencing the Maldives is beautiful and rejuvenating, but one of the best parts is that you can rule out visa hassles. Anybody can get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival, with a few conditions. You need a ticket onward as well as either a reservation at a resort for the entire duration of the trip or about USD 50 per day plus another USD 100 if you can’t show reservations. If this has made you feel like a sad and deflated balloon because it’s too expensive, never fear. Put your Maldives plan on hold and consider Sri Lanka instead: very similar, much cheaper. If you’re still with us here, you’ve decided that money is hard earned and the only worthwhile thing to do with it is to spend it on awesome things like vacations, so no compromise – you shall vacation in the Maldives. Right on! Now you have two options: you can stay somewhere like Kaafu, which is the region with North and South Male Atoll, Kashidhoo and Gafaru, where you will find guesthouses and B&B establishments by the beach. You can find excellent options for about Rs.5000 a night. They also arrange for a lot of trips and diving expeditions, and even if you can’t expect five-star convenience, you can usually expect five-star service and priceless memories.

62

www.gngmagazine.in

Thulusdhoo (Cokes Beach House is highly recommended) and Maafushi are two islands with a lot of such beachside guesthouses and B&B establishments. Maafushi especially has excellent snorkelling as well as lovely beaches, so if you want to relax for a week, you don’t really need to go anywhere else. You can expect to see mantas and baby sharks, apart from colourful schools of fish that are like an underwater garden that writes poetry in fluid motion. You’ll find that most guesthouses are run by extremely friendly people who’re determined to show you the best time of your life, and will help you with all details like island transfers, ferries to the airport and other such things. You won’t need to worry about a single thing. Even if you don’t believe in exerting yourself the slightest bit on your vacation, don’t forget to book yourself a scubadiving trip. It might turn out to be more expensive than in, for instance, the Andamans, but all safety protocol will be followed. Waters are warm throughout the year, so diving in the winter is not a problem.

wide range of activities. Gili Lankanfushi ups the luxury level quite a bit (the price, too - at least one lakh a night) but you truly get what you pay for: stunningly clear waters, astoundingly beautiful beaches and innovatively designed and luxurious villas that are worth the price. Cocoa Island is similar, and perhaps even better. But before you reach for your credit card and make it cry, remember that Tripadvisor is your friend – rates can vary quite drastically depending on the site through which you book. So really, what are you waiting for now? Go on, take a chance and give yourself a winter beach vacation that you’ll never forget. Go to Maldives. Even if you don’t find sunken treasure, you’ll come back with experiences that’ll make you feel like you did.

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week’s collection was refreshing and bohemian besides being an ode to breezy whirlwinds and sun-kissed start to summer with soft shades of spring in tow. Some even taking grandeur to the next level! The fashion week had it all, from Japanese dolls, Red Indian motifs, miniature paintings, melodramatic prints, floral prints, geometric prints, batik prints depicting a handloom heaven, quirky patterns, to paying ode to Indian classic cinema. The mecca of Indian designers took fashion upward and forward. The season saw return of sheer, lace, net, denim, rich textures, pleated swing Gulbagh tops, soothing colour palette were a big hit. We decode some styles from the Wills fashion week on what kept the ramp ablaze at the five day extravaganza for all our readers. Here a low-down on the celebration of the Indian fashion industry at its very and deserving best! Urvashi Kaur’s Ziran Talented designer Mrinalini’s line presented an extremely summer friendly with easy and breezy attires in anticipation of the warm temperatures ahead. With the usage of three primary hues in black, white and grey, her line of fancy kaftans, dungaress, loose pants, summer jackets and shrugs in cotton net tulle and lace were captivating enough to see us own a few in the coming season. Very young designer Rahul Singh showcased his collection titled ‘Plumage’ which was a tribute to the big summer parties waiting to be had fun at! His attires were big on sensational, metallic textures with shimmer and bright hues thrown in! Jackets with shimmering textures over flowy skirts made the look chic and oh-so-glamorous! Lovely designer Anupama Dayal’s collection was perhaps every Indian bride’s dream trousseau. From lehengas, suits and saris with delicate gold embroidery, to richly textured traditional attires to go with barely there cholis gave her clothes a feminine, flirty and sexy twist. Red, tangerine, yellow, beige and orange formed the base colours of her collection. Denim On A Roll by Raakesh Agarwal brought in an entirely innovative use of denim for shirts, dresses, shorts and capes. This is not all his sunshine cowboy collection comprised of ruffled gowns, dresses and pants which made the audiences sit and take notice of his creations. The bright young designer blended three bold colours very well like bright orange, sunshine yellow and his trusted denim. It was a tribute or applause to the creators of raw denim. We had uber-talented designer Vineet Bahl presenting his line of heavy traditional wear for the occasion of Karwa Chauth. The designer used immense doze of sequins, heavy borders, embellished cholis and blouses, in Benarasi handlooms and tussar georgette. His collection was all about celebrating modern Indian woman at her very best, depicting women who balance out cultures and geographies. Hues saw a medley of soft cream and eggshell to red, gold and orange, his finery sure was a visual treat for all the fashion connoisseurs. Seasoned designer Niharika Pandey, known for her glamorous, sporty, zany, flirty and feminine attires, she depicted her line true to her previous fun elements in place. Her clothes line comprised of long skirts, pyjamas, sun dresses with plenty of kiddy prints. It made us go back to our childhood days in a matter of minutes and come back nostalgic! Wendell Rodricks

Our designer from the East, Joy Mitra showcased his love for Indian cinema. Especially with his exquisite designs as a remarkable tribute to the great film-maker Satyajit Ray and his popular ‘Jalsa ghar’! Some of their stand-out pieces included his formal, minimalistic red carpet gowns, dhoti-pants, floor length anarkalis, timeless colour blocked sarees with elaborate accessories, his effortless silhouettes, all of it gave an old world charm to the exclusive show. The show used a lot of black and white with a hint of pink! Artistic flair of Nida Mahmood’s Bubby Street style collection showed her nouveau style in her signature contrast colour choices which was fun and bright collection. Taking inspiration from Irani cafes, her collection comprised of florals, sunny hues with a hint of spring depicting her play with art. Every outfit had heavy accessories from flamboyant floral head gears, floral ballerina shoes to soft hand-held fans! All in all her collection gave out a happy vibe! As much as his contemporary printed sarees and printed maxi dresses. Yoga Clam by Wendell Rodricks Talented designer duo Gauri & Nainika have always given us fashionable and wearable dresses. Their collection consisted of semi formals and the inspiration for the collection was global warming. As part of her assemblage we saw an amalgamation of maxi gowns, mermaid dresses and empire waist dresses. The prints and the well tailored silhouettes were impressive to say the least. Malini Ramani’s collection primarily consisted of hues of her trademark black, brown and gold. She played around with sheer fabrics, sequins, plunging necklines and cuts which were very flirty, feminine and striking. As her signature style, she again showcased kaftans, playsuits, and dresses in shimmery and embroidered styles. Masaba Gupta’s collection ‘Patakha’ saw her in her quirky best. The models of her collection were seen with patakhas in their hair while the collection had plenty of firework prints alongside some zodiac designs. The quirky, fun collection as always was complemented by some extra-ordinary jewellery and accessories. Ace designer Rohit Bal was the grand finale designer at Wills Fashion Week. Nikon D810: Versatile and Flexible

1

The Start Menu is back for good. And in its new Avatar it sports a Live Tile Menu in built into it . The touch screen friendly Live Tiles were the reason that most enterprise level customers shied away from early Window 8 and 8.1 adoption. But does this mean Windows 8.1 itself will never have an update to support a Start Menu? Seems like it unless a Windows 10 upgrade is a free option from Windows 8.1 which seems unlikely.

Windows 10: Microsoft’s latest Operating System’s Technical Preview is Out Now! By Zubin Gulati Well, some of you may have heard the news; some of you may have not: Microsoft has released its latest operating system after the dismal failure of Windows 8 and its 8.1 update in trying to gain enterprise customers. So is it something radically new? Actually not, for the most part it recycles Windows 8 and Windows 7 features in a new avatar. Even the Start Menu is back but sporting a funkier live tiles menu for now. So, no 3D desktops or navigation as of yet. But here’s what the new Operating System which ships in early 2015 will offer as standard fare.

2

Virtual Desktops: For those familiar with Linux this all too well known feature, now you may have multiple virtual Desktops with their own icon set. Which reminds me, oh hell yes, the Desktop returns, now more powerfully in the center of attention as you boot up your computer rather than Windows 8’s messy Live Tiles.

3

Continuum Mode: Microsoft hasn’t completely axed the Start Screen interface though dock your keyboard to the Ultra Notebook two-in-one and your Start Menu returns, undock it and the tablet mode returns with emphasis on the Start Screen.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

4 5

High-definition, high-quality video Unrivalled image quality in Nikon’s range Reliability and versatility Robust Form and Function High-performance NIKKOR lenses

Task View: Similar to Apple’s Mission Control you can view and manage various desktops and apps using Task View through the Short Cut key “Start+Tab”.

Microsoft XBox 360 Pro System User interface: Xbox 360 Dashboard Input/Output: 2.4 GHz ISM band radio, IrDA-compliant infrared for remote, 2 Memory Card slots, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 Ethernet port Controller: Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel

Resizable Apps: Finally you can resize and move around Windows Store Apps because they will run in a windowed mode unlike in Windows 8.1. Also you can snap Apps just like you dock screens into various assortments of windows.

6

Refurbished Command Prompt: Now you can have windowed command prompts with tabs like in Google’s Chrome Browser. Also Ctrl + C and Ctrl+ v will now be natively supported within the command prompt. That’s Copy Paste. Initial impressions from the Technical Preview that recently went online to a few Windows insiders shows that this time Microsoft may do better in incorporating renovated Windows 7 features in Windows 10, compared to what it did with Windows 8.1. They did skip an entire OS number to highlight the radical newness of this cross platform Operating System, and it will run from your Windows Phones, Tablets to Ultra books and two in ones. Will Microsoft live up to expectations? Remains to be seen, although initial impressions are positive as they seem.

Dress-Up Celebrating Womanhood With wedding season around the corner, you have a reason to shop, celebrate and apprehend the best dress, lehenga, sari and accessory. However, with varieties to explore this season, there are chances that you may fall prey to bad fit, color and overdose of make-up and accessories. Designer Mayyur Girotra, an internationally acclaimed wedding outfit designer feels that even on the D-Day it should be more about celebrating womanhood and the best way to do it is through bling and glam. He decodes how to make the best of it this winter…

ICONIC: SARI, LEHENGA & GOWN Mayyur believes that all three have their own essence. Sari and lehenga are such apparel which will never go out of trend when it comes to picking up an outfit for to-be-bride. Though, with urbanized wedding market, nowadays we have too many evening events for which one can opt for cocktail gowns too. The most appreciating thing is that the Indians are accepting the western look as much the Indian looks. There are many cocktail gowns with shapes ranging from apple, hourglass, pearl and banana with wide price range which might suit to people with small budget. Exploring the options for cocktail parties Mayyur suggests, “Cocktail dresses are loved by women in India and of course they also carry it quite well. One can opt for a pretty knee length evening dress or an elegant long gown with minimal make up and accessory to rock an evening soiree.”

STYLE GUIDE FOR WINTER

TREND, SHADE AND PATTERN There are so many unique bridal wear which have been introduced. It is fascinating and so inimitable but the timeless heavy A- line lehenga will never go out of trend. Mayyur suggests, “It is very important to choose an outfit which suits your body type. There are so many options to choose, from fish tail lehenga to A-line lehenga; also off shoulder cholis would look beautiful on a petite shape body and long sleeve choli with intricate work on it. The dark shade of red would look beautiful on any skin tone. The colour would bring out the glow on the bride’s face.” Sharing about his latest bridal collection, Mayyur decodes, “I love working on the bridal wear, and it’s my forte. The details of the outfits are worth my hard work. For this season, I’ve designed few lehengas in shades of orange, yellow and red; it is suitable for all the body types and the intricate work is going to be a treat for eyes.”

CUT AND DETAIL The cuts are extremely important. The cuts on the outfits would define the wearer’s shape, so one has to be very careful and pick the garment which would complement their body in winters and not look shabby, he suggests. Heavy embellishments have been the identify of Indian wedding costumes for decades and even today when fashion goes minimalistic there are people who still prefer heavy outfits when it comes to their wedding outfits. Mayyur feels that heavy embellished and sequined outfits look rich and is apt for a bride, but of course, finely patterned outfits, with unique cuts and delicate work will look as gorgeous and elegant as the heavy outfits. “It depends on the way one carries the outfits off”, he deems.

Experts believe that wedding functions call for opting a comfortable yet sexy outfit, as the brides as well as the ladies have to be in the garment for hours. So pick an outfit with perfect cut and pattern that suits your body and at the same time makes you look ravishing and comfortable too. Talking about the accessory overdose this winter, Mayyur quips, “Every wedding season, we get to see at least one such person in a wedding who always overdo with accessory and make up. And I don’t understand the logic of turning into a jewelry pop-up shop, it’s disturbing. The simple rule is to balance, He concludes, “If you are opting for a heavy earrings then avoid wearing a neck piece and vise versa, so simple and effortless.”

GnG Wedding trendz we recently explored and think is going to rule this wedding season is celebrating the different wedding ceremonies by the underlying theme of ‘Season’. The idea is to symbolize each of the wedding functions with a different season. The Mehndi function can be kept simple with flavors of nature and can be ended with traditional touch of Genda (marigold) flower. The Sangeet on the contrary can be showcased through a winter theme with a white and icy feel. The use of huge LED panels can bring life to the theme. Whereas, the cocktail parties can be celebrated through the monsoon theme with bright and colorful paper décor. The rain dance, pool party, and DJ set-up can add flavor to the bash before the grand wedding.

THE GRAND DAY Come wedding season, and wedding planners and event companies are up with a variety to explore and make your day grand and memorable. Be it a palace in Hyderabad or a fort in Rajasthan- a destination wedding is the most beautiful flavor of the season.Today, when Indian weddings have become more than just a ritual, and involve lengthy affairs including cocktail parties and receptions, they all call for the perfect theme, décor and food to add to the grandeur of the day. The largest city and capital of Nepal, Kathmandu- city which is religiously and culturally sound has hotels like Yak and Yeti, located in the heart of the city is a renowned destination with its great ballrooms. Also, another great property which offers great wedding packages is the Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu. It has various venues for celebrations like ballroom, banquet garden, amphitheatre, poolside areas etc.”And with some of the best cuisine and scenic beauty, Turkey can be another wedding by Rishab Raj destination to explore, she affirms. is the stunning Devigarh Palace. It is also one of India’s leading luxury hotels with the perfect ambience for a dream wedding. is measured as one of the most admired destination. It is the land of surreal palaces, imposing forts, picturesque lakes, shimmering sand dunes and vibrant markets. The famous cities here for wedding highlights include Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Jodhpur. Exploring the destinations for the upcoming wedding season, Annushree Agarwal of internationally acclaimed Theme Weavers says, “In India, Udaipur can be a perfect location with its essence of romance and beauty. Away from the city buzz, located at the hilltop

Thematic Twist

She adds, “The grand wedding can be witnessed with the look of spring season infused with a sufi night. Stage, bar and buffet, can be themed with a touch of gold to carry out the serenity of the sufi décor. To illuminate and highlight the venue with an innate manner, candles can be spread across the place. The hanging candles and flower extensions near the Mandap will represent the spring season beneath which the wedding vows can take place.” “The farewell décor on the other hand, which will also serve as a vidai décor can be aptly depicted through autumn season. With extensive use of rich and dark colors along with plenty of maple leaves, park benches, wrought iron lamps, the antique look to the place can be achieved. The USP of this theme is the continuity of the concept that can run across all the events along with depicting the couple’s story to always remain with each other through all seasons in life”, she avows.

Economical and

Trendy Destination weddings being the flavor of the season are generally termed as expensive affair. However, experts feel that this can be economical, one needs to be knowledgeable enough, and the best way to do this is through a genuine wedding planner. Annushree proposes, “In terms of the look and feel, weddings can be kept economical yet trendy by using simple tricks. The use of paper décor instead of using flowers everywhere serves as a good décor suggestion. Using of minimal flowers artistically helps to save costs as well as gives a new appeal to the décor. Also, artifacts from antique shops can be used for décor props instead of getting new things fabricated from the scratch.”

Dazzling Decoration As we talk about destination weddings, decoration becomes an inevitable part of the event. Today, wedding décor has come a long way, where it is not just about flowers and clothes but more about one’s personality. Industry experts believe that decoration not just reflects the theme but an individual’s taste and preference. Annushree believes that customized decoration opportunities helps to play with colors, patterns and themes according to event and location. “Decoration is something that strikes us at the very moment we enter a venue. As families invest heavily in terms of emotions, time and income into their dream

event, it should be impressive.” She feels that one of the most inspiring and

unique décor concepts that are in trend is cane and tensile cloth. These concepts are lasting and economical as well. Cane can be used to form mesh balls which are sturdy and are suited to form various props and installations. Tensile cloth on the other hand can be stretched and be used to form diverse shapes for ceiling coverings on which projections can be made to contribute to the event’s look and feel. Thus, these things are manageable to be efficient and look trendy as well. The color, shapes, sizes can be played for various purposes as per the need.

Invite in Style It is said that invitation cards mark the auspicious beginning of the lovely days to come. The choice of card reflects your persona and also does the important tasks of setting the tone of the events that follow. When it comes to destination weddings, one must ensure that the invite leaves a lasting impression. Keeping the fast moving life and importance of invitation in mind Annushree suggests, “Today, when everyone is so busy in their professional and social life, at times it happens that people miss the moment of receiving the invitation personally or carrying it to the event. The recent unique invitation concept that is in trend is the launch of ALIVE “Wedding Cards”. These serve as an augmented reality experience to the wedding card invite. This service can be customized according to the like of the couple or their family. Various themes can be created in accordance to the décor and the destination as well. By downloading a simple application on any smart phone and scanning the wedding card, there can be updates on the wedding, images/ videos from the bride and groom, Google map direction to the venues and many more features. As it altogether serves as a great experience, it keeps up in the memory of the people as well.”

GnG Wedding trendz Gifting Gallery Manju Agarwal, owner Nimantran says, “With the impending gifting season, it is important that we gift with a difference to create lasting impressions. The gifting boxes serve multiple decorative purposes and if coupled with eclectic edibles, they can form the most enriching gifting options for the loved ones.”

Return Gift Galore

Gifts are those silent emotions which are wrapped in form of favorite fragrance or picture frame. The guests should be made to feel special and thankful for being a part of the wedding. And the best way to thank them is through small things of life, as Anushree believes that happiness lies in small moments of life. She suggests, real rose with a printed thank you message can be a choice to give a fresh feel to the guest at the time of departure. Also, mehndi candles (candles with henna) can be an interesting gifting option with various designs and figurines done on them. Those who are close to nature can think about gifting a good luck sign like a money plant/ indoor bamboo plant which depict good luck to the guests for their life ahead. And as a livelier gift, a bonsai can also be gifted, with a small personalized name plate. Other options include personality perfumes whose fragrance can be customized according to the guest’s nature.

Desi and Diet

food. But not to forget, it is also the most crucial thing to be taken care of. Keeping the theme, season and guests in mind the platter needs to be perfect. Industry experts believe that the combination of desi and diet is high on demand and presentation of the same plays an important role. Annushree observes that this wedding season, there will be a variety of option for the masses that are health conscious. The platter will have varied salads and juices which will be delicious and low on calorie count as well. These days main course are made using very less oil and even some of the food items are steamed, which are best for middle age guests. The concept of ‘diet chaat’ and ‘sugar free deserts’ will allure women guests as it will not make them to be conscious about figure but help the guests to remain fit and glamorous while eating away to their heart’s content. Sharing about the winter’s favorite, she concludes with the famous ‘ Kulhad ki chai’ which will serve as an all time favorite for guests, and will help them to keep warm, especially during the time of pheras.

GnG Horoscope Aries

Gemini

Mar 22 - April 21

The zodiac House of Aries will live through a very positive time in November 2014. However, it is certain that there will be some moments best avoided. There will also be some nuances that should be considered while organizing this or that event. The zodiac House of Aries will have true mastery in avoiding all of the most significant problems brought on by the celestial bodies with an actively negative aura in December 2014.

Taurus April 22 - May 21

Taurus, the leading sign of the Earth trigon, can count on a very productive conclusion to all current projects in November 2014. However, building new foundations is not recommended right now. This warning has equal strength both in terms of relationships and in terms of business. The House of Taurus, the leading sign of the Earth element, will experience a confidently positive influence from the “classical” celestial bodies of the Solar System in December 2014. This means that most of the planets that have a direct influence on this House will only be positive.

80

www.gngmagazine.in

May 22 - June 21

The zodiac House of Gemini is recommended to approach their finances carefully in November 2014. It is in this direction that Mercury, the planetruler of the Gemini, will focus his attention and will decide to turn into a surprisingly fierce enemy from a true ally. For the Gemini, the leading zodiac House of the Air element, December 2014 will be a quite harmonious life stage. It is likely that luck will help this sign exactly as needed to help the suddenly positive circumstances surrounding a new deal, but not enough to win a lottery.

Cancer June 22 - July 21

The House of Cancer will have a very interesting and a one of a kind time of their life in November 2014. The thing is that this month will be characterized by exclusively positive celestial environment, which most likely be a result of a very strange, but an inseparable tandem – the Moon and the Black Moon. The zodiac House of Cancer may feel itself quite confidently in December 2014. Any worries connected with a sudden appearance of barriers on the way to making plans happen are most likely unnecessary. At the same time, the Cancers should

not think that everything would be theirs this month.

Leo

Libra Sep22 - Oct 21

July 22 - Aug 21

Representatives of the Leo zodiac constellation, just like those of many other signs, will be at the mercy of very positive energies in November 2014. Of course, nothing is granted free in this world, but the circumstances are sometimes so great that it seems that someone just waved a magic wand over your life. The Leo is the shadow antipode of Cancer for a reason (its true antipode is the Capricorn). If the Cancer will not at all feel the influence of celestial combinations in December 2014, then the House of Leo will be at their epicenter sort of speak.

Virgo Aug 22 - Sep 21

In terms of the House of Virgo, November 2014 will be a time lacking harmony. On the contrary, this month will turn out to be the most polar life stage for the representatives of the given zodiac constellation. In December 2014, the House of Virgo will be in an uneasy situation. The reason for that is the quite non-standard distribution of the dominant phases and the key energetic flows between the celestial bodies of the “classical” order

The zodiac House of Libra, being the brightest representative of the Air trigon, will not receive a “celestial leader” in November 2014 and so will be left without additional aid on behalf of the stars. December 2014 will be a very contrasting life period for the zodiac House of Libra. Contrasting in a sense that practically the entire first two weeks will be a complete opposition of the last two. This situation will happen because the key planetary combinations of this period will be quite dynamic.

Scorpio Oct 22 - Nov 21

The zodiac House of Scorpio, where the energy of the Water element lives through its climax, will meet the final month of fall in an excellent spirit. November 2014 will turn towards the Scorpio with a smile and everything will be a success at first. Scorpio, the ravaging and passionate representative of the constant cross of the Water trigon, may relax in December 2014. Fully and undoubtedly! The planets of the Solar System forecast a very positive energetic background to the representatives of the current zodiac constellation, so it is unlikely that you can find

a situation that will be capable of harming the Scorpios this month.

Sagittarius Nov 22 - Dec 21

The zodiac House of Sagittarius will feel a very harmonic and balanced influence on behalf of the planets in the classical order all throughout November 2014. This means that not a single body of the Solar System that influences this House at any time will leave their “responsibility” and join some interstellar combination. The Sagittarius is a strong zodiac House, in which the energy of the Fire element slowly and cautiously moves to its starting point. In December 2014 the Fire trigon will be left without a “celestial leader”, so the Sagittarius has nothing to think about in terms of additional celestial protection.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 21

The House of Capricorn may be confident not only in itself, but also

in the world around it in November 2014. The current period will be such a life stage for the representatives of this zodiac constellation, when circumstances will practically form themselves based exclusively on the wishes of the Capricorns themselves. No matter how strange that sounds, the situation will be exactly that In December 2014, the zodiac House of Capricorn will be under the influence of exclusively

Pisces Feb 22 - Mar 21

The Aquarius, the zodiac House in which the energy of Air goes through a stage of a laconic declined, will face an exclusively positive set of stellar circumstances in November 2014, just like many other signs.

The zodiac House of Pisces, the representative of the mutable cross of the Water trigon, in November 2014 might feel some difficulties in interacting with people in November 2014.
