ABOUT US We are a multi-disciplinary, creative practice trying to bring positive change in our built environment and cultural surroundings using what we know best: this beautiful tool called design. We believe that design has no compartments: we work within the fields of Master planning, architecture, interior design, landscape design, product design and even research and development, constantly broadening our horizons. Our speciatlity being the design of space, for us, Architecture is much more than space contained between four walls. Architecture, we believe, is the breath of structure itself: a void to be filled with life and activity. It is the light and shadows, the breeze upon the skin and the smell of flowers. Our design philosophy consciously tries to go beyond engaging with space as merely a visual entity, to include five senses in the way that we imagine it. Through the use of texture, material, nature, and energy, we create spaces that speak to the soul, and generate a haptic, more holistic response within the people that inhabit them. Established in 2016, RWAMP has worked on various types ranging from Masterplanning to product design.Through our experience, we know that architecture is created by not only an individual or team, but also by a careful layering of context, culture and nature. It is a result of, and has an impact on interactions that happen within it. As the people who shape this powerful force called Architecture, it has been our unrelenting attempt to do so with great responsibility, and greater joy.

Architecture spaces is about layering of all the senses.

The villas, located amidst lush green mountains on all sides, were meant or long stays for recuperation. They are spaces that make one feel secluded yet inspired. The design hence, was very modern: the architecture of the villa had to come from it’s context, and compliment it’s function. The form was kept clean-cut and geometric with no stylistic elements or ornamentation, to provide a classy, elegant feel to the space. Rather than shouting out their presence, the villas are quieter and more contextual, emanating a sophisticated elegance that lets comfort be the driving motivation behind the design. The planning is done as per the modernist ‘open-plan’ philosophy: all spaces smoothly transition into one another, creating the feel of integrated, voluminous space, by eliminating walls where not absolutely required. The context shines through the simple architecture, all spaces have large openings that overlook the mountains and the material palette comes from the textures of nature that surround the project. The two options for the villas symbolize a sensitive coexistence with nature in two different ways.

Scope : Design and Build Location: Coorg, Karnataka Area: 9 Acre Status- Under construction

The architecture of the resort is Landscape oriented give the fact that the site and its contexts are strong. The site is heavyly contoured and the contours are celebrated by designing plazas that go stepping down towards the waterfront. The plaza consist of different activities that make the journey tpwatd the waterfront interesting, making the stream thepoint of focus.

Large openings, that can be controlled through transparent partitions, let the ‘built’ take the back-seat as nature forms the backdrop to the various activities and opportunistic interactions that the open plan promotes.

Each element that assembles into the villa is geometric and modern.

The texures of stone, earth and wood formed the palette.

Located in Tamilnadu, only a part of the threeacre site with existing structure and plinths that had to be incorporated in the design. The program consisted of three twin villas plus amenities. The site is moderately contoured with only a linear patch leveled for construction. Also, one specific requirement was the use of thatch roof. The concept strategized these challenges and followed the linear patial philosophy. The roof is kept organic rather than an angular roof to reduce the use of material and also play with the form. The concept works on the lines of floating leaves drawing inspiration from the forest in the vicinity.

site and concept

The contours formed the base for design.

The resort at Coorg demanded a holistic design: from master planning the estate, to the interiors of the villas, to the landscape that connected them and finally the branding for the project. Each of these tasks required the team to devise distinct concepts and strategies of approach. The master-plan was to be robust and integrated, allowing for multiple paths of circulation without being chaotic. Local context such as existing natural elements, trees and water bodies were to be fused with the new architecture: creating a seamless whole. Rather than just the visual, a sensory experience was to be simulated with a focus on sound, smell and touch. As a result, the strategies involved creating a dispersed master-plan that encourages wandering, using natural, locally sourced materials that come together to create rustic, simple yet elegant architecture that is one with it’s surroundings.

A circulation spine was established.

Nodes and pauses were added.

Scope : Design

Secondary axes were created.

Massing was done around nodes.

Voids and visual connections estabished.

Location: Coorg, Karnataka Area: 11 Acre Status:

The resort combines different types of villas seamlessly with the landscape, which can be viewed from sit-outs and floating decks to have converasations with nature.

site and concept The backwaters are a natural transition between the land and the sea, supporting it’s own unique ecosystem. The backwaters resort attempts to be a part of this landscape, being situated on a site that almost touches the water. The sea shell became an inspiration for the form: the master-plan is based on a radial spiral that staggers and fans out towards the edge of the land. With a central congregation space that leads to windy access spines to reach the private villas, the fan-shaped array is responsive to the movement of the sun, and the local wind conditions, making sure that the ambiance of openspaces remains pleasant through the day. The theme of the sea-shell is carried forward on the scale of the individual structures as well, with the club house having a similar syntax of a central space that fans out to more private areas that open into the landscape. The site gently slopes from the entrance to the last villa, ensuring that views are unobstructed for every space in the resort. The bright exposed brick walls juxtaposed with metal-framed glass panes, stand in a complementary contrast with the greens and browns of the estuarine landscape. Scope : Design

A radial array of axes is established on site.

The openings face away from the sun but capture views.

The landscape highlights pathways and pause-points

Villas are staggered & oriented within the array pattern.

Location: Coorg, Karnataka Area: 6 Acre

TREE HOUSE A R C H I T EC T U R E

The Tree Houses, as the name suggests, are designed to redefine the way in which a visitor can live with nature. The concept was that of a child’s refuge in a tree, bringing with it the excitement of leaving the mundane ground behind to live in one’s own space of imagination and wonder. The form of each villa is dynamic, it hugs the trunk of the tree like the foliage does, and the circular plan allows smoothly flowing interior spaces with opportunities to open out a 360 degree view into the surroundings. The interiors are compact yet comfortable, paying tribute to the cozy essence of a tree house. The structures levitate entirely off-ground, and are connected to each other through floating bridges, which also lead to common interaction spaces nestled harmoniously in the woods. Structurally, the villas are constructed using an angular, radial support system. A thatched roof pays respect to the foliage that surrounds it, and the glass facade between structural members gives the space of being floating in air. A box terrace emerges from the cylindrical form to frame the best views. A new world of the forest opens up once visitors ascend the light, circular staircase up the tree. Scope: Design and Build Location: Coorg, Karnataka Area: 400 sq. ft each

The curving transparent facade provides a panoramic view, allowing natural light that is filterd by the surrounding foliage to cast magical patterns in the interior space. It heightens the sense of surreal levitation one feels in the room.

site and concept The vernacular resort is more than just a holiday destination - it aims to create an vibrant, walkable community inspired by the interactions within a village. It’s planning is, therefore, organic: a spine traverses the landscape, with alcoves and seating spaces which are dotted with iconic sculptures. Because of the remote, untouched site, the architecture seeks to be rooted and integrated with the surroundings. The lake is the highlight of the location, and has been optimally made the feature of the design, with each villa having unobstructed views of the lake separate lake-side pods that form landscape features, and infinity pools that celebrate water as an element key to rejuvenation. The masterplan forms three major precincts, the Center is public, the Villages offer a variety of villas and the Lake-side offers a multi-cuisine restaurants and spaces that interact with the water. The architecture pays ode to the traditional planning features of the region. The project becomes a quite habitation along the waterfront.

Scope : Design

Natural features formed the base of planning.

An organic spine with nodes and alcoves was established.

The villages were planned with the node as a focal point.

The center and the lake-side were established.

Situated in the serene atmosphere of the town of Kushal Nagar, Karnataka, the site is a one-acre area demanding a resort of fourteen villas and amenities. The concept developed on two aspects; the site as such had no views on the exterior and the area was limited as compared to the program which was a challenge. The design worked on the strategies of introvert planning, keeping the central core of the site open, and facing the villas towards this core. An interesting take on low cost construction was taken with ideas like minimum walls and merging of two versatile roofing materials, thatch and Mangalore tiles.

site and concept

‘Urvi’, quite literally, means Heaven and Earth. Situated in the midst of nature, between sprawling, organic paddy fields on one side and the forestcovered mountains on the other, this resort had to be just that: an heavenly abode that’s close to mother Earth. The colors, textures and elements of the vibrant Madikeri village provided all the inspiration that was needed for the design. The existing natural beauty needed to be visible through all interior spaces, which were crafted lovingly as if from earth itself. The rigid orthography of the city was discarded in favor of fluid, curvilinear forms of planning, where a meandering axis of circulation lets visitors walk across the site, offering vistas at each pause-point. The tree-lined pathway forms the spine of the project, circulation doubling up as an outdoor interface for community and recreation. It transforms from a deck, to a promenade, to a park and a pergola, connecting the villas together into an integrated whole. The villas are designed to provide a get-away from city life, with their soft curving walls and natural materials that let drops of sunlight and summer breezes trickle into the interiors of each space.

the concept The Canvas Boutique Hotel is a refurbishment project is a dense city. The design is an implementation of the philosophy of adaptive re-use, where instead of a blank slate or Tabula-Rasa, the challenge involved dealing with an existing building, which was old and rundown, and finally transform it into a vibrant commercial and leisure space. To do justice to the existing structure and make most of the available resources, planning was done so as to make full use of the existing infrastructure. The earlier facade, which was unresposive to the street, was converted to an engaging street facing cafe, it’s interiors visible to passers-by from the pavement. The more private spaces were assigned upstairs, where the interiors of the suites was kept elegant, modern and minimal to best serve the urban sensibilities of the client.

the concept The interior spaces of the Tereli Resort were to be the epitome of simplicity and elegance. Compact yet sophisticated, the rooms and common areas were to exude easy-living and comfort, as opposed to highend luxury. The finishes were inspired from natural textures and finishes, but designed to be arranged in fun patterns and forms, to compliment the young, quirky vibe of the place. Specialized palettes of patterns were created as mood boards for each different space, along with season palettes for the rooms, to break any repetition and monotony and provide with a new sensory and spatial experience to the visitor in each different area that he visits. The colors of summer spring and winter, along with stylized pattens of nature create a vibrant space for a refreshing vacation.

CEILING DESIGN ELEMENT

A S PAC E A R C H I T EC T U R E / I N T E R I O R the site and it’s development

Aspaces is a premium multi-program property, located in the midst of a bustling city. To symbolize the brand, and it’s prime position in the market, the ‘A’ was equated to a soaring mountain peak, emphasizing all that the company stands for: class, identity and a signature lifestlye. To further make a bold statement and establish a strong tie between the brand and the architecture, ‘copper’ was used as a key element in the design palette, and a the facade takes the form of a soaring peak fashioned out of copper. The glistening forms stands out starkly amidst themore or less unremarkable built environment of the suburbs, demanding attention in it’s own right. The building is a testament to planning that encourages flexibility and mixed-uses in our cities today: the lower floors become high-end retail spaces, and the upper floors contain luxury suites. Considering that the theme of the design was couture, Aspaces has now become synonymous with a luxurious destination, and the architecture has succeeded in creating a monumental landmark for all to behold.

Scope : Design Location: Bangaluru, Karnataka Area: 18,000 sq. ft

A perforated copper-coloured facade allows the light from the interiors to shine through onto the street, lending the landmark structure the apperance of a jewel.

A continuous circulation core traverses through the building, which manages to combine various different functions together vertically, even as it keeps the services simple.

E CO C LU B INTERIOR the site and it’s development

The theme for the soothing interiors for the administrative block of this resort in Coorg, was inspired from the Landscape of the hill station, and a relaxed, earthy vibe exuded by natural elements and finishes. Greys and browns formed the undertones of the color palette, represented by the natural textures of stone and wood. The furniture and decorative elements of wicker and Mahogany, materials that can be sourced locally in the region, brought in a feel of the wooded forest into the interior spaces. Hanging decorations, such as mood-lights and wicker spotlights accentuated the height afforded by the sloping roof, and re-reinforced the sense of walking through a starlit forest with low hanging branches. The deep reds of the furniture, and indoor planting compliments this ambiance by adding a pop of color to the muted Grey of the stone tiled flooring. The interior design of the space manages to bring in a continuity between the outside and in.

Scope : Design and Build Location: Coorg, Karnataka Area: 10,000 sq. ft Stage : under construction

The wooden elements and textures, along with elements of green vegetation make the interior space look like it’s carved out of nature.

G OA C LU B INTERIOR

The site is located on the beach of Vagator, the proposed over spanning roof of the club to create an iconic presence on the beach and becomes an eye catcher from distance. The other layer was introduced to enhance roof by proposing the ceiling derived from beach nature such as water waves / ripple and cloud for all three levels.

V I L L A I N B A N G LO R E A R C H I T EC T U R E / I N T E R I O R CONCEPT

The city of Bangalore is modern, energetic and forward-thinking and a home in this city should reflect these values. In an attempt to reflect the essence of Bangalore, and the preferances of the client, the house is simple yet classy, it’s form a direct reflection of interior functions in the truly modern style. To heighten the factor of comfort on a tight plot in a rather urbanized city, the architecture brings in a spot of green wherever possible through a stepped entrance with planters, a landscaped pool area, and terraces and balconies on the facades: Where the city-fabric does not allow a sprawling house thats spread horizontally, the project celebrates its levels: the addition and subtraction in the cuboidal massing is complimented by steps and balconies at various levels. The plan is not traditional, it incorporates open spaces with multi-purpose interior living areas to create an earthy, well-lit space that feels connected to the outside at all times.

Scope: Design Location: Bangaluru, Karnataka Area: 9,000 sq. ft Scope: concept

The facade is not ornamental, it purely responds to the interior space and hence reflects the ideology of ‘form follows function’, emerging as a unique design element that communicates the play of levels and volumetric variation happening on the inside.

C A R T Making traditional communities viable & thrive though microhousing

Existing structral coulmn of the bridge

Each module bought can be added & subracted as per the individual/ family requiremts to form a 350sq.ft home Further both the modules of 350 sq.ft can also become one home.

FUTURE EXPANSION

COMMUNITY SPACE 4 modules bought as per requiremnet attached to form a living space. Roof of these modules will be used as terrace spaces by the family for gradening etc.

8 UNITS PER FLOOR CAN HOUSE 48 FAMILIES (MIN) RANGING FROM 1 PERSON TO 4 PEOPLE

Each module bought shall be attached to the existing structural member, left over floor area can be used as open/terrace spaces 350 sq.ft floor plate area comprises of 4 modules

Circulation passageS along with vertical movement (lift & staircase) encompassing the exisitng column

Central Column’s frabricated with angled structural members, such that the modules are attached as the individual/family space requirement grows EXISTING SCENARIO NEAR THE WATER BANKS

Considering Micro housing is the future of housing for the existing and upcoming generations, we propose a type of housing that ensures mobility, innovation, reuse, and optimum space utilization making it an adaptable solution for everyone. “Add to cart” is a modern solution for micro-housing that allows a house to grow within a given space. The designed modules can be brought & assembled on the existing structural sytem like ‘kits of parts’. It is designed in a way that it can be multiplied, deducted & customised as per the different stages of a man’s life and his lifestyle choices. Mumbai, a megacity, is home to many traditional communities. Some communities bear the brunt of urban sprawl & migration and are on a verge of extinction. One such is the closely knitted Koli community of fishermen, entitled as the original inhabitants of Mumbai, that are suffering an economical, social and cultural loss today. The upcoming/proposed Coastal road development & bridges along the water banks will hugely affect the profession of this community, eventually leading them to migrate from their original habitation. Our concept of micro-housing shall retain and uplift this community, making it viable even through rapid urbanization. 1-2% of the city land is occupied by supporting structural systems that act as dead spaces, hence these structural systems can be constructed in such a way that they can host these communities. The housing takes place along the proposed infrastructure of the coastal road, while it saves green lands from undue rehabilitation of the fishermen. It also brings them closer to their profession and proposes a waterfront development program. This is the city supporting the fishermen’s concerns, the fishermen supporting the city’s concerns in return. The concept of ‘micro modular living’, in addition to the proposed scenario can take place in the defunct areas of a city such as abandoned mills & buildings, negative spaces that are in and around the existing or proposed infrastructure and also as parasite architecture to the existing buildings and structures.

Floating community space that functions as per the high & low tide & can be expanded as per the community space requirement & usibility ADVERSITIES OF THE COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE

PROPOSED MICRO HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ON THE COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE

In a country like India with 67% rural population, it is difficult for conventional education to reach everyone and be accepted as is. The site was located in a tribal area of Odisha with most people living below the poverty line. Schools were being shut down all around because locals did not relate to the system of teaching and felt it was better to involve their children in work than indulge in learning things they would never have the opportunity to use. The design sought to make a multi-functional space that could be a school for some, a ‘haat’ or evening market for others. We used philosophies like trying to get the local children to Learn using concepts they were familiar with, by Playing and Interacting with each other and elders who would pass on information they felt their community needed. The school did not use the conventional age based division of 1st, 2nd, 3rd standards but instead divided classes based on subjects so all ages would feel comfortable learning. The classes had moving walls and could be transformed into a school, market, exhibition and working space for artisans and for social gatherings.

TEA KIOSK PRODUCT DESIGNING / BRANDING

CONCEPT 1 : tea under the tree The concept is derived from the age old practice of people coming together to eat and drink under large trees. The natural element was an important place maker back then and thus the attempt was to make the kiosk a place maker based on nostalgia.

Inspired from the transforming objects found on the streets of Indian cities, this project pays an ode to the concept of ephimerality in architecture, to create meaningful transactions with people by means of their favourite beverage: tea. The idea took shape as an attractive movable kiosk inspired from the spread of the branches of a tree. It offers a pausepoint and a place of respite for those who wish to take a little break while on the move. It proclaims to passers-by “Chai peeni hai,” which is also the name of the company. Hence, it becomes a product that promotes the the brand and its essence effectively and in a more interesting manner to greater number people, especially when placed in public spaces such as a mall or a public square. The simple experience of drinking warm, refreshing, healthy tea can bring joy to a tired visitor, and the kiosk provides a fresh and vibrant environment for them to do just that. Light and colourful, the kiosk has a folding metal screen that forms its roof, supported by wooden structure that shelters the display deck and the shelved storage below it. The entire assembly is mounted atop wheels, making it mobile enough to move.
