HOME FOR THE Holidays
Things to do in and around Weyburn this winter
Advertisement
While our winters are long, they don’t have to be boring. There is plenty to see and do in Weyburn and the southeast all season long.
You can support local artisans and craftspeople at the Gifted Art Market on November 12. Hosted by the Weyburn Arts Council, this event features handmade arts and crafts that are perfect for giving (or keeping for yourself – we won’t tell).
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce kicks off the holiday season with the Parade of Lights on December 1. The annual event is one for the whole family, with festive floats making their way through downtown, and spreading plenty of cheer. River Park Sparkles will start lighting up the night on December 7 through January 8. Pack up the gang and take the tour at River Park Campground nightly from 5.30 to 8.30 pm.
The annual Skate with Santa event returns to Tom Zandee Sports Arena on December 12. Let the kids skate alongside the big guy and get some exercise too. Plus, there is always
public skating at the arena and the outdoor rink.
Credit Union Spark Centre has activities all season long, with drop-in fun for people of all ages. You can check out the art gallery, pottery studio, multipurpose rooms, indoor track, simulator room, mini gym, multi-use synthetic field, children’s play space and outdoor ice surface.
The Weyburn Leisure Centre is always fun for the family with the indoor pool, traditional sauna and hot tub, tot pool, waterslide and climbing wall to keep you busy all winter.
River Park off Confederation Drive is a great place to spend a day with a toboggan and the kids. The groomed ski trails throughout Jubilee Park and River Park are also a fabulous way to spend a winter day. The route is changed regularly, and you can rent snowshoes and skis from the Weyburn Leisure Centre.
Weyburn is in Zone 3 of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association’s trail system. Learn more at sasksnow.com—you’ll find great trails just outside the city.
Have fun exploring this winter! You never know what you can find in your own backyard.
