You're on the hugely popular show, Amazon's Transparent. What do you enjoy most about your role and bringing your character to life? Words do not begin to describe how Transparent has transformed, both who I am as a person and who I am as an actor. Playing Teenage Ali is incredibly cool, as I'm in a constant state of awe regarding Gaby Hoff mann. So, it's the coolest thing in the world having the opportunity to learn her ways and share a character with her. That being said, I'm a big nerd. (I call myself nerdtastic.) So, playing Young Rose and learning about pre-WWII Berlin and queer history has been an utter dream. I had no clue about T he Institute or even Magnus Hirschfeld, so it was a completely eye opening exciting period of intellectual exploration for me, which was incredibly cool, as I was learning at the same time what my character was learning. We were on paralleled journeys, which was kind of cool to think about. The state of television has shifted to more stream ing content. Do you think this has helped with the success of the show? I just think it's all so exciting. TV has never been bet ter. I'm constantly behind on my TV viewing and bing ing, because there's just so much good content out there, it's really amazing. And, I think that the chang ing landscape of TV has completely contributed to that shift. Platforms like Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu have really empowered creatives to tell their stories, how they want to tell them, in a similar fashion to premium cable channels like HBO. I think this ever-evolving model (along with visionaries like Joe Lewis, Roy Price, and Jeff Bezos. Love you guys <3) has cre ated an environment that allowed for the creation of a show like Transparent. A show that needs love, care, and creative freedom. T hat being said, I like to think that Transparent has helped streaming services work their way on the map, as well. With 5 Emmy wins and 11 nominations and 2 Golden Globe wins in its first season, it's helped bring powerful streaming content to the public's attention. Shifting gears to fashion, we love the high end, sophisticated look from your fashion spread in this issue. Who are your favorite fashion design ers and styles? That's such a difficult question! I love to call my style "Sporty Femme Chic," which I guess means, that I love sophisticated classic looks with a bit of flair. I love a classic style with a fresh twist, just like the looks from this issue. I'm currently obsessed with chic pants, embroidered patches, anything denim, baseball bombers galore, and sleek turtlenecks.

I love so many designers, but right now on the runway I'm in love with Marc Jacobs' use of embroidery on denim, Chanel's fresh femininity and cool collared looks, Armani's overall bad-assery with an inspired mix of clean lines and bold colors, and Stella McCart ney and Yves Saint Laurent sneakers. Go-to brands for me include Rachel Antonoff, Zara, BCBGenera tion, Topshop, and It's Me and You. What projects do you have coming up in the near future? I just filmed Behold my Heart, a coming-of-age movie with Marisa Tomei, Timothy Olyphant, and Charlie Plummer directed by Joshua Leonard, which should be coming out later this year along with two other movies I recently filmed, Going Under with Bruce Willis and Broken Vows with Jaimie Alexander. Right now, I'm filming Season 3 of Transparent and am in post-production for a short film I wrote, directed, and starred in, Virgin Territory. Next I am going to be in Big Sky by Alessandra Gersten-Vassilaros at The Geffen Playhouse in Westwood running June 7th- July 17th. So far, 2016 has been such an exciting year; I cannot wait to see what is yet to come!
