The Community Challenge Fund This Training for Transformation programme is being funded as part of the Neighbourhood Challenge, a new programme from NESTA, (http://www.nesta.org.uk/) working with the Big Lottery Fund, (http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/) to support community-led innovation.
Holy Trinity Community and Partnership Centre
Training for Change
It aims to show how community organisations – when equipped with the right skills, practical tools and small, catalytic amounts of money – can galvanise people to work together to create innovative responses to local priorities, particularly in neighbourhoods with low levels of social capital. The Holy Trinity Community and Partnership Centre Project is one of seventeen such funded projects spread across England and Wales.

Transformational Change
Listening in communities, building trust and supporting action
About Training for Change
Block 1: • Introduction, working in groups, facilitation skills
Block 2: • Leadership, decision making, dealing with conflict
What is it? It is an approach to learning through action and reflection that brings about change in individuals and communities. It has grown from the experience of UK practitioners and trainers over many years. It is influenced by the work of Paulo Freire, Saul Alinsky and other educators and activists, and informed by Catholic Social Teaching. Who is it for? Those who have been involved in the Root Solution Listening Matters process and anyone who wishes to look at themselves in relation to the parish and the wider community in the context of community animation .
Block 3:
Why do it?
• Participation and Power
It animates and equips people to build enthusiastic and committed teams and communities. Participants will be given opportunities to explore the impact of their actions at a personal, local and wider society level. It will help maintain the momentum that has resulted from the listening and trust building that has been going on in and around the parish. It will help people to think how best to take their ideas and plans forward for the benefit of the parish and the community.
Block 4: • Social analysis and taking action
