Dear Parents and Carers, Dates for Diaries Thursday 26th May – non-uniform day – to raise money for school funds. Please bring £1 for your child to wear their own clothes. Thursday 26th May is the last day of this (very short) half-term. We close at 3.15 pm. Friday 27th May is a holiday. The children return to school on Monday 6th June at 8.50 am. School is closed on Monday 20th June – final Professional Development Day of the year. A Successful School We are pleased to announce that our School Improvement Partner has agreed that we have made ‘outstanding progress’ towards all our school targets this year. She regards ‘the learning and caring ethos’ to be ‘exceptional’. A Concern… We are proud that our school continues to go from strength to strength, but there is one area of our development that we must improve upon…attendance! Last year our attendance figure was just 93.7%. This is regarded as ‘inadequate’. From this week onwards, we will be rewarding the class with the highest weekly attendance. In addition to this, all children who have very high attendance will be treated to a free day out to the seaside in July. Please ensure that your child attends school every day from now until the 22nd July. What adversely affects our attendance? Children who take term –time holidays (even if these are authorised). Occasional days off – they soon add up! Children who do not come to school because their brother or sister is ill. Poor punctuality. School begins at 8.50 am and not 9.00 am. Poor family organisation. We appreciate that children who are very ill should not come to school. Please help to improve our attendance figures. Children who come to school regularly make the very best progress. Best wishes Deborah Ashcroft
