Dear Parents and Carers, First of all, welcome back to you all, and a warm welcome to all our new faces. We welcome one new member of staff this year – Mrs. Sara Drinkeld who will be supporting Miss. Welford in our new afterschool club. Booking forms for this club and the breakfast club are available from the office. Places for the breakfast club, in particular, are filling up very quickly, so don’t delay – sign up today! Breakfast club costs £2.10 per session (7.50-8.50 am) and each evening at the after-school club costs £8.00 (3.15 – 5.45 pm). Most of the cost of these clubs may be claimed using your child tax credits. There may still be free places for the breakfast club only, for children who are in receipt of free school meals. School Diary Dates st st st School will close on Friday 21 October for half term and will open again on Tuesday 1 November. Monday 31 October is a staff training day for the Gosforth First Schools. Bike Shed You may have noticed our lovely new bike shed. If you would like to use this facility, please bring a lock to secure your child’s bike. Space will be available on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis and bikes are left at your own risk. Medical Appointments Please do try to avoid making doctor’s or dental appointments during school time, if at all possible. If you find it absolutely necessary, you may be asked by the office staff or your child’s class teacher to show your appointment letter or card. As you know, we are trying to continue to improve the children’s attendance figures. You will be pleased to know that our attendance figures did improve during the last academic year. Please do ring school on the first day of your child’s absence. We do have an answering machine, so you can leave a message in the middle of the night if you need to. Dinner Money A week of school hot dinners costs £9.50. Please always bring the money to school on the first day of the week, in an envelope stating your child’s name and their class. This would help the office staff so much. Governor Vacancy One of our parent governors has recently moved abroad, therefore we are keen to fill the vacancy. If you are interested in having a strategic role in the development of our school, please contact Mrs. Ashcroft to express your interest. Please note that if you have any information or concerns about your child, their class teacher should be informed. You will find that all our teachers are friendly and approachable. If you have any serious concerns, please contact Mrs. Ashcroft at the office or Mrs. Freeman, our Deputy Head, in her absence. Best wishes, Deborah Ashcroft
