Friday 11th February 2011 Dear Parents and Carers, Super-Learning Days Please don’t forget our Investigation Days on Tuesday and Wednesday next week when parents are invited into school to share their children’s work. You should have already received more detailed information about these days. Lost Property We have many unclaimed items of clothing, etc. This will be displayed in the infant hall on Tuesday morning, if parents would like to see if anything belongs to their child. Why come and take a look at the lost property before attending the Year 1 to Year 4 assembly at 9.10am on Tuesday morning? Healthy Lunches As I am sure you are aware, schools are encouraged to educate children to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Our school dinners are carefully planned to be healthy and nutritionally-balanced. Some of our children bring a wonderful array of healthy foods to school in their lunch boxes. These include lots of fresh and dried fruit or vegetables, nutritious sandwiches, pasta, lean meat and a healthy drink. However a worrying number of children are eating food that has little or no nutritious benefit to growing children. Some packed lunches have even contained sweets, chocolates and fizzy drinks! I would strongly recommend that you do not send your child to school with these products. They are also very bad for the children’s teeth and fizzy drinks can become a real hazard in the dining room if they are spilt. If your child is absent please ensure that you ring school on the first morning that they are absent. Our School Attendance Officer, Brenda McDougall, may contact you if you don’t contact us to explain why your child is absent. This is primarily to ensure your child’s safety. Half Term School closes for the half-term holiday on Friday 18th February at 3.15pm. We will return to school on Monday 28th February at 8.50am. Additional Holiday for the Royal Wedding School will be closed on Friday 27th May 2011 to commemorate the Prince William’s wedding. Gosforth Junior High School will also be closed on that day.
