MARK BATTERSON ‘13

SENIOR PASTOR NATIONAL COMMUNITY CHURCH

NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR

The beginning stages of the D.Min. program helped define my leadership gift and lay a foundation for what the Lord’s done and what He’s going to continue to do hopefully over the next 30 years.

For Mark Batterson, developing outreach oriented communities is a must. “I believe that a church that stays within four walls is not a church at all,” Mark explains. “We want to mobilize people for the mission.”

Knowing that he would need additional training to lead effectively, Mark chose Regent’s Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program. He was drawn to the university’s theological perspective and greatly respected the faculty — some are now lifelong friends.

Mark has seen God multiply his influence with the publication of more than 10 books, including his bestseller, The Circle Maker, his recent title, Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of God, and Draw the Circle, based on his final doctoral project at Regent.
