Regent Law Centers

CENTER FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE®

The Center for Global Justice® equips students to promote the rule of law, seek justice for the oppressed, and supports those already engaged in such advocacy. Students work on legal projects for human rights organizations like ADF International, the International Justice Mission, Shared Hope, the Uganda Attorney General, and Advocates International. Students have drafted briefs to the European Court of Human Rights, written legal memos to end land grabbing in Uganda, proposed legislation to combat child sacrifice, and helped do research to pass Virginia’s first-ever sex trafficking bill. Select students also receive funded internships and fellowships through the center.

ROBERTSON CENTER FOR CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

The Robertson Center for Constitutional Law leverages the expertise of faculty, students, and its global network of alumni and legal experts to promote first principles in constitutional law, including freedom of speech, separation of powers, and religious freedom. After the center collaborated with the Christian Legal Society to file an important friend-of-the-court brief in support of the prevailing party, the United States Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overruled two major abortion cases: Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This is an example of the center’s commitment to training the next generation of leaders to defend the Constitution.

CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL FORMATION

The Center’s mission is to help aspiring young lawyers discern God’s purpose in their law practice. The Center achieves its mission by running Regent Law’s Foundations of Practice Course, in which students make a discernment plan under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The Center also pairs first-year students with practicing legal professionals who embody integrity and strong moral character and sponsors presentations and panels introducing current law students to the highest professional standards of the legal community.

AMERICAN CENTER FOR LAW & JUSTICE

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is one of our nation’s most influential public interest law firms. Headed by Chief Counsel Dr. Jay Sekulow, the ACLJ operates on the Regent campus, providing law students with unparalleled opportunities to participate in current religious and civil liberties cases. Law students also have the opportunity to enroll in elective courses taught by Dr. Sekulow, and other ACLJ attorneys also teach as part of the constitutional law course curriculum.

Tools for Passing the Bar

GREAT VALUE FOR BAR PREP

Regent Law’s high bar passage rates are the result of our intentional efforts across all three years of law school to prepare students to pass the bar exam. In addition to the bar prep opportunities listed below, Regent has partnered with a leading bar preparation company for students to opt in to for access to various study aids and financial benefits throughout their law education.

“Regent Law’s writing program particularly taught me one of the most important skills of an attorney: the art of objectivity and persuasion through the use of the pen. Regent also prepared me well for both my state and federal post -graduate judicial clerkships.”

Rebecca Garcia, J.D. ’19

Former Law Clerk, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit

1L YEAR

• Core common law classes which cover the content found on the bar exam.

• Regent Law students must take 5-6 credits of Property, Torts, Contracts and Civil Procedure. This is 1-2 credits more than most law schools but ensures that our students are well-prepared for the bar exam.

2L AND 3L YEAR

• Core upper-level required classes covering advanced content found on the bar exam (E.g., Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Evidence, Business Structures and Agency, Professional Responsibility).

• Electives: Choose those classes that correlate with your bar exam (Family Law; Wills, Trusts, and Estates; Secured Transactions).

• Bar Prep Classes: Up to 4 credits in courses that involve drafting exam essays, preparing for the MBE and focusing on the Multi-State Performance Test (MPT).

“My Regent professors made sure I learned all that I needed to know to pass the bar exam. My final exams were often styled after the bar exam, past bar exam questions were integrated into lessons, and the teachers always took personal time to answer any questions I had.”

Sam Kane, J.D. ’19

Law Clerk, Superior Court Kotzebue, Alaska
