FROM THE PUBLISHER

Kingdom Life is one that transforms your way of life. The economy continues to remain the top news and concern around the world. From looming crisis, to financial default and bankruptcy in Europe, to slow economic recovery in the United States - this has been the topic on everyone’s mind. Leaders are trying to determine which form of government or strategy is best to effectively handle crisis. However, citizens of the Kingdom operate under a different economic system. If the laws, essentially principles, of this system are applied then Kingdom citizens can be immune to the effects of what surrounds them in the financial world. In this issue, Dr. Munroe addresses the Kingdom Commonwealth Economy, which operates under different rules and even paradigm. In this Kingdom the wealth is common, and everything belongs to the King. The citizens are stewards with ‘rulership’ or management rights and have access to all of the King’s resources. The King, by creative rights, retains the ownership and the only thing required of the citizen is loyalty by maintaining their citizenship with right positioning with His government. Dr. Richard Pinder, in his article, explains that the benefit of being in this economic system, among other things, is the power of access. One of the featured articles highlights a compelling story of stewardship in Uganda. Karen Spano inspires us through her effective entrepreneurship program among the widows in the nation of Uganda, Africa. There are several other articles in this issue that will inspire you towards enjoying Kingdom living to the fullest. I challenge you to experience this new way of life, not a religious exercise, but an adapting of the original culture as intended by the Creator and his commonwealth economy. With this issue, we would like to welcome our newest team member, Jon Markus, to the Kingdom Life team. There are lots of exciting things ahead for Kingdom Life Magazine in the coming months. Stay tuned and join the economic system that is out of this world, the Kingdom Commonwealth economy.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE EDITOR

This issue deals with what has essentially been the global focus lately: the economy. However, through this magazine we view it from the Kingdom perspective and present how provision and prosperity are natural outflows from it. Understanding and applying the principles of the Kingdom of God has made the biggest difference in my personal and professional life. I am also very passionate about having a life vision. We are celebrating the newest addition to our family, our first son, Maverick. Needless to say, my life has changed dramatically, thus I revisited my vision to tweak it a bit according to the new season in my life. It is important to periodically revisit the goals of your vision. Are you still on track? Perhaps you have become distracted and need to make some course corrections. As my team and I mentor others, we encounter many who are involved in a number of various projects. I notice much too often that many are toiling, which is “to move slowly with difficulty; exhausting physical labor”. True vision that is from God will take work on your part, but not toiling as seen in Genesis 3, after the fall of man. If we are seeking God’s agenda first, this results in natural prosperity according to the provision required to accomplish your life vision. It is one thing to tell others our vision, but to rely on them as a source is another issue. Jesus had everything he needed because he sought, first, his Father’s agenda. God will add everything that is needed for our vision when it is genuine, tested and does not encompass personal ambition. He will also bring the people and resources at the time it is needed, which require faith. I wholly believe in putting the pressure on the government of God, and not on the people. Sometimes we lose sight of Him as the source and look towards the resources that God uses to meet our needs and fund our projects. Prosperity is a God principle and was intended to be a natural result of pursuing God’s agenda. To worry is to concentrate on the provision of things instead of God’s priority. We must never get caught up in this activity, for it’s simply the biggest waste of time and counterproductive. I encourage you to revisit your motives for your vision or projects that you are involved in. Do they only benefit you or do they benefit the community? Life is too short to spend it toiling on something that God isn’t involved in.

COMMONWEALTH UNDERSTANDING KINGDOM COMMONWEALTH ECONOMY

UNDERSTANDING KINGDOM COMMONWEALTH ECONOMY Dr. Myles Munroe

The world as we see it today is not the best place to live. All kinds of unrest and stress—environmental, governmental, economic—are prevalent around the globe. The United States alone is in one of the worst job crises in history. Much worse is the Euro Zone, where what was once a force to reckon with is now a collapsing wall. All nations, whether developed or developing, yearn for economic stability. Concepts like free market and capitalism are now becoming unpredictable and often futile. Developed economies, once a model for other nations, are now trying to find their own footing.

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

What happened? When did we lose control? Did we every have control? Democracy Promotes Ownership

sickness and death.

Democracy is defined as “a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.”

Yet even now our culture is built on the spirit of ownership. The good news is that Jesus came to remove the spirit of ownership restore the Kingdom.

Contrary to a Kingdom government, democracy grants immense power to officials elected by citizens to run the government. The term ‘democracy’ comes from the Greek word ‘demokratia’ which means ‘rule of the people’. Coined in the 5th-4th century BC, the concept of democracy was created by the Greeks and not the Bible. In fact, being all about people, democracy is built on five tenets, namely the power of peoples’ rights, the power of private ownership, the power of personal pursuit, the government of the people by the people, and focus on the individual.

Understanding the Concept of Kingdom Commonwealth

In a sense, democracy is all about man’s pursuit of materials and a way of life to sustain these materials. In fact, the greatest motivation of all humans is self-preservation, while scarcity is mankind’s greatest fear. And it is this pursuit of self-preservation and avoidance of scarcity that becomes the principal source of all criminal behavior. In essence, the desire to secure and accumulate material goods is a curse for humanity, wherein we spend an entire life pursuing things we cannot take into eternity. Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 says, “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?” Similarly, Ecclesiastes 5:12-14 says, “Whether he eats little or much, but the abundance of a rich man permits him no sleep. I have seen a grievous evil under the sun: wealth hoarded to the harm of its owner, or wealth lost through some misfortune, so that when they have children there is nothing left for them to inherit.” Further, Ecclesiastes 5:15-17 says, “Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands. This too is a grievous evil: As everyone comes, so they depart, and what do they gain, since they toil for the wind? All their days they eat in darkness, with great frustration, affliction and anger.” The key word is ‘ownership,’ which creates all kinds of problems in a democracy. The spirit of ownership can lead to fear, limitation, worry, depression, contention, scarcity, lack, stealing, poverty, greed, competition, jealousy, envy, deceit, covetousness, strife, discrimination, racism, malice, stress,

There is nothing more powerful than an idea. Ideas have created, and now control, the world we live in. When an idea is conceived, it is called a thought. When a thought is conceived, it is called a concept. The great King Solomon wrote, “As a man thinks so is he.” This means that you are and become your concepts. If your concept is not correct, you will be in error. If your ideas are wrong, then your thoughts will be wrong, therefore your application will be wrong. The result will be living a wrong life. So, while mankind’s idea was that of a government built for and by people, the original idea in God’s mind was and is that of a Kingdom government. At the very heart of the Bible is the message of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible was not the source of democracy. Democracy was conceived by the humanistic philosophy of the Greeks. The Bible, instead, is about a King, a Kingdom, a Royal Family and a Supernatural Country in the form of Heaven. God’s purpose since the beginning has been to extend this Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. God’s purpose looks to colonise Earth with the jurisdiction of Heaven and to fill the Earth with the culture or lifestyle of Heaven, which is holiness. When God created mankind, He intended him to dominate and manage the resources of Earth. Contrary to the concept of democracy, God never intended Adam to own earthly resources. Adam was instead given the mandate of dominion and rulership. In Genesis 1:26, God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule and have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” God created earth to be dominated by Heaven, and instead it is ruled by manmade governments. According to God’s plan: • • • •

God created Man to extend his Dominion from Heaven to Earth. Earth needs Heaven. Earth was created to be a Colony of Heaven. The ‘fall of man’ was a rebellion of Earth against Heaven. KINGDOMLIFEMAG.COM

13

• • •

Earth declared Independence from Heaven. Earth lost the Government of Heaven. Earth is seeking the Kingdom of Heaven.

Ever since God planned His Kingdom with and through mankind, He also gave promises for him. God’s promise to the nations was a King; to Earth a Kingdom; to mankind a Government; and to man a Governor, i.e. the Holy Spirit. In spite of all his attempts to create his own government, mankind is unaware that deep within he is in search of a Kingdom. Therefore, for man to be what he is meant to be, it is imperative for him to understand the concept of the Kingdom of Heaven and the promises that come with it. What is a Kingdom? It is the governing influence of a king over his territory, impacting it with his power, principles, laws, values, and morals, producing a community of citizens reflecting the culture and lifestyle of the king. In other words, a kingdom is a country or nation governed by a king! Daniel 7:13-14 says, “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Daniel 7:16-18 says, “I approached one of those standing there and asked him the meaning of all this. So he told me and gave me the interpretation of these things: ‘The four great beasts are four kings that will rise from the earth. But the holy people of the Most High will receive the kingdom and will possess it forever—yes, forever and ever.’” When God inspired Daniel to write this, four civilizations, which included the Egyptians, Chaldeans, Babylonians and Romans, already existed. Daniel 7:21-22 says, “As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people and defeating them, until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.” And Daniel 7:26-27 says, “But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away (Calvary) and completely destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.”

We strive and pursue to own things on the earth when we should realize that all we have is managerial powers and not ownership. We have access to everything, but ownership of nothing. The source of human poverty and pain is this very spirit of ownership. As mentioned earlier, the spirit of ownership is the source of fear, suspicion, competition and coveting. However, this is not what was established by the King. As we read, God said, “…let him have dominion….” In contrast to ownership, the Kingdom economic principle of Commonwealth is access.

The Generous Will Prosper Many resources would be available if one could develop the Kingdom mindsets of access and generosity. Proverbs 11:2425 says, “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper. Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” In fact, God dares you to ‘prove’ Him with this principle of giving, tithing, and offering. This promise of provision and access is based on God being our source. Look around and you can see that everything has a source. Fish have their source in water; plants in soil; stars in firmament; animals in dirt; but man has his source in God. Man was made in God’s own image and likeness. Man doesn’t just have a spirit, man is a spirit. God as our King has laid down certain constitutional obligations for our welfare. These include common access by citizens to the bountiful resources of the wealth of the Kingdom, as well as equal access by all citizens of the Kingdom community to the provisions and protections of a royal government. Unlike democracies where each pursues for his/her own wealth, in Kingdom government, the wealth is common for every citizen and is meant for the welfare of the citizen. The struggle to seek ownership over access has been perpetual for mankind since his fall. In the story of the ‘Prodigal Son’, the father owned everything and gave full access to his children. Yet, the son strived to gain his own ownership over the possessions and came to ruin. Later, he was fully restored by his loving father when he returned home, broken, poor, and humble. In the parable of the rich man who wanted to enter the Kingdom, Jesus tested him to see if He was the only Lord of the rich man’s life. As a test, Jesus asked him to give up ownership of his riches. Even though he had fulfilled every other requirement of the law, the man could not bear to give up his wealth.

A Commonwealth Economy The Solution is “Lordship” Offers Access As we look at world economies, we see similar stories with

men, leaders, and governments fighting to retain their wealth. KINGDOMLIFEMAG.COM

15

COMMONWEALTH UNDERSTANDING KINGDOM COMMONWEALTH ECONOMY God has a solution and it is “Lordship.” Psalms 24:1-2 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and has established it upon the waters.” As we look to respond to His Lordship in our day-to-day life, another promise is offered in Exodus 19:5-6, “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”

Democracy vs. Kingdom Democracy can only offer power, constitution, laws, ownership, wealth, competition and individualism to its people. On the contrary, Kingdom offers the King’s power, will, laws and the King’s Lordship, along with commonwealth and sharing of resources. Even as economies around the world look to establish politically and economically stable governments, the Divine solution for Earth’s problems is that of a Kingdom Government as defined by Jesus. A sheer comparison of God’s economy with the world’s economy will reveal that, while the former looks to provide, the latter robs. God’s economy has nothing to do with money. In God’s economy, money is the source of worry. Rather, we must obey the Lord, for He knows where the “secret riches of the darkness lie.” While the world’s economy looks to store up things for itself, we do not lay up for ourselves riches on the earth where moth (inflation) and dust (interest rate) does corrupt - but we lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven. (See Matthew 6:19-20.) From the Kingdom’s perspective, by looking to store up money or earthly possessions, we are building a dam and blocking the flow of God in our life. In the Kingdom, we prefer to give things away. It’s more blessed to get rid of stuff than hold onto stuff. Don’t confuse the American Dream with the Kingdom.

Accessing the Kingdom Commonwealth An economy is the system of transaction in a country by its citizens. From that perspective, the currency in the Kingdom of God is not money, but faith, without which one cannot do business in the Kingdom.

As with any economy, there are rules that govern the Kingdom economy: For example: • You must prove you don’t own anything by giving. • You don’t give to receive, you give to obey and prove your denial of ownership. • You have access to Heaven’s resources by not owning everything. • Giving keeps the resources in the Kingdom moving around. • Whatever you receive is never permanent. • The more you get rid of things, the more He trusts you with Kingdom resources.

Tithing into The Storehouse Tithing is like Kingdom “taxes.” Your tithe is poured into the local community where you are getting fed. Tithing to another community amounts to stealing. Instead, you can give offerings to any ministry or person you want after you have paid your “taxes” in terms of tithes in the local community. Any diversion from this law of God’s Kingdom is illegal. Malachi 3:8-10 says, ““Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me. Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

It’s Time! Are you ready to host the Kingdom of Heaven on earth? Are you willing to give all to Him, trusting in His provision for you? Have you stepped into your identity as a son and daughter of the King; brother and sister of the Son, Jesus; prince and princess; and heir to all the resources of heaven? What has He done for you already? Declare it to your family and friends. Hold up the banner of the Kingdom and march to the tune of a Lord who created you, loves you, and wants to pour out upon you more than you could ever give away. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

STEWARDSHIP Uganda: A compelling story of Stewardship

Uganda:

A compelling story of Stewardship By Karen Spano

It

has been said that there is no poverty in the world, just a lack of proper distribution. I pondered that thought for many months and as I have travelled around the world, I have come to the conclusion that it is true. Poverty is in epidemic proportions around our world and hundreds of people die every day from lack of food and clean water. People travel to nations plundered with sickness, disease and death, feeling helpless to be instruments of change. When we see certain parts of our world one cannot help but be defeated and frustrated with the overwhelming feeling that in order to meet the needs of others in these less fortunate countries, it is like pushing the ocean back with a broom. I have travelled extensively in Uganda, Africa and found conditions in some parts of that country almost unbearable. My heart is broken as I see children so deteriorated by malnutrition that they look like death is at their door. Uganda has an innumer-

18

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

able amount of widows and orphans – as do many parts of the world where malnutrition, disease and AIDS have been major problems for decades. It is difficult to understand why basic necessities of life seem to be out of reach for so many in our world. Food is scarce and water, if available, is shared with disease-infested animals, which results in much sickness due to contaminated water. We see the images on television and wonder will anything change. How can we make a difference in our world? How can poverty be eradicated and no longer be a part of so many lives? The answer does not lie solely with governments. Neither does it lie with religious organizations that constantly bring aid to these impoverished areas of the world. The answer is found with the [much needed] message that Jesus Christ brought to earth: the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Herein, lay secrets to be searched out and carried to the uttermost parts of the world. It is our answer to sickness, disease and poverty.

I

travelled to Eastern Uganda in 2007. The doors of ministry were opened and my mission was to local churches and homes of widows and vulnerable children. One afternoon after sharing the message of the Kingdom of God in a local church I was invited to a widow’s home. She was an elderly lady about 90 years old. We arrived at her home, which was a simple place of about five mud huts. It seems like we had driven a long distance to arrive at this village. Clothed in her finest church dress, she greeted us with great joy and a little apprehension. She was concerned, because she had no furniture in her small hut – just a grass mat. I assured her that everything was fine. I looked into her face as we sat down to visit and I could tell her life had not been an easy one…but she was full of joy that day. She began through an interpreter to tell me her story. Her husband died many years ago along with her daughter and son. She had one remaining son who had fallen years earlier and broke his leg. He was crippled, for without proper medical care he became permanently disabled. She was responsible for taking care of her son, all of her grandchildren as well as other children of the family. I wondered to myself how she was able to do that. Everyday she was faced with the same circumstances: no income, hungry children and sickness in her body. My heart began to weep as I looked at this situation and wondered what I could do to alleviate the burdens she faces. If I gave her all the money I had, that would only take care of the problem temporarily – but what about next week and next month?

Being Faithful Over Little, Will Make You Ruler Over Much KINGDOMLIFEMAG.COM

STEWARDSHIP Uganda: A compelling story of Stewardship

The Principle of Stewardship Being Faithful Over Little, Will Make You Ruler Over Much I was taught to give to the poor and I was willing to do so – but to what end? What would happen to them when I left? Their stomachs would be full today but what about tomorrow? I listened to her story and looked into the eyes of her children as they sat on the mat all lined up. Their clothes were tattered and their eyes were filled with hopelessness. I could not walk away and say, “Jesus loves you” when clearly they needed help. The Kingdom of God teaches stewardship and I thought to myself, “but how could I ask this widow with many orphans to be a steward?” Her biggest concern was figuring out how she would feed her family. I then asked the question: “What could she sell in business to provide for her family?” There was silence for a moment and the interpreter looked into my eyes and realized that was the solution the widow needed. The faces inside that hut seemed to change in a matter of moments. I said to them, “If we give her money for food, by next week or next month she and her family will be hungry again. But if we give her capital for a small business, she can sustain her family.”

The wisdom of stewardship was the answer!

T

hey told me that egg production was very low in that area; so much so that eggs were brought in from Kenya (a neighboring country) to meet demand. The business she would start was raising chickens for their eggs. I invested one hundred dollars ($100), which put fifty layers in her possession. She would be able to sell eggs daily and support her family. I explained the Kingdom principle of stewardship and assured her I would return to see how she was doing. She was so excited! She even danced and sang at the possibility of changing her and her family’s lives. When we were leaving she took me to an empty hut that belonged to her dead son. She said to me, “This is where I will raise the chickens, for God has brought life out of death.” When we came there she was a poor widow and when we left she was a businesswoman. We drove away from her home amazed at what just took place. Then I heard the word weep.

20

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

It caused me to pause and then I heard Widows Entering Entrepreneurial Partnerships. WEEPs was birthed in the

middle of that countryside. I had monies left as we went to other widows’ homes with vulnerable children to start small business ventures. I realized this was an answer to poverty. Women could sustain their families and subsequently bring change to society. We started fifteen new businesses on that trip and the vision for partnering with these widows was birthed. The following year I returned to that widow’s home. We pulled into the driveway and were greeted with all sixty-nine members of her family. They were greeting us with song and dance. I could not wait for the car to stop. The widow invited me to come into her home, where we found furniture and food. She began to tell me of all that had changed in her home and family. All of the children were in school and all of the family was healthy. She showed me the hut where the chickens were housed and how they had been doing. She shared with me how God had changed her life and as the Kingdom of God teaches, she had been a good steward. I listened to her with great joy in my heart and when she finished I showed her in the Bible where the Kingdom of God teaches that when you have been faithful in little He will make you ruler over much. She had been faithful with the chickens, so that day we put her in the goat business. We added six goats to her home for as little as eighty dollars. She was excited! I realized that what we spend on a Friday night dinner could change the life of a widow with orphans forever. It has been five years now since we put this widow in business and every time I return to Uganda, I see the Kingdom of God at work.

WEEPs International now has over 187 widows, as well as orphans, in business in Uganda and Kenya. I have found that with a seed of capital, instead of aid, we can eradicate poverty in the worse parts of our world. This is just one story of how the Kingdom of God has changed a family, there are countless others. It is our responsibility to bring the message of the Kingdom to our world not only in word but also in demonstration to see and affect change.

ECONOMY

The Kingdom Economic System of TodaySystem of today. Economic

The Kingdom Economic System of Today By Paul L. Cuny

24

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

W

e live in a day that the [biblical] prophets only dreamed of. The unprecedented change in the global economy is happening at such a rapid pace, it looks very much like we are in the days of Revelation Chapter 18. The sudden political turmoil in Arab nations, rapidly shifting alliances of governments and commerce, the apparent further isolation of Israel, and economic chaos in many nations of the world, seems to have conditioned us to think that what is abnormal is in fact, normal. Some of what is taking place is shocking, yet events like this are becoming so commonplace that we hardly take notice. When we, the people of God, look at these events with the sacred/secular mindset, it is nearly impossible to see the hand of God in all that is taking place today. Why would a holy God engage Himself in the economics of nations? He is a Sunday kind of God, not a Monday through Saturday God, right?

Tipping Points Historically, in the lives of people, nations, continents and world history, there have been tipping points where sudden, seismic shifts take place, which bring about dramatic changes. On September 29, 2008 one of those tipping points occurred that ended one season and began another. On that day, when the markets closed on Wall Street at 4PM in New York City, the largest single day drop in history occurred – 777 points. All the markets in the world were watching the looming crisis develop that day on Wall Street. What happened there was eventually going to affect the world. The number seven (7) represents a number of completion, fulfillment and perfection. You may think 777 could be a numerical coincidence, but what happened two hours later at 6PM was even more interesting. Two hours after Wall Street closed that day, began the Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah (Leviticus 23:23-25, Numbers 29:1-6). Rosh Hashanah is mistakenly referred to as the Jewish New Year, but in Leviticus 23 God spoke to Moses and called it “…a holy convocation…” Rosh Hashanah begins with the blowing of the shofar, which is called the Awakening Blast. It is followed by the 10 Days of Awe, and ends on the 10th day or Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement – the holiest day of the year. On that day, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies to make atonement for the sins of the nation. The Awakening Blast calls people to 10 days of repentance, restitution, self-examination, forgiveness, reconciliation and an evaluation of relationships. If you have defrauded anyone, you have 10 days to make it right. On Yom Kippur, they would bring an offering to the Lord in light of this heart examination. If repentance were sincere and proper, God would forgive sin and cause His blessing on the nation, businesses, relationships, and families. September 29, 2008 ushered in a new season for us as God’s people. Much of the global economic chaos we are experiencing now is linked to that day. It was the beginning of a tearing down of the systems of this world that at one time seemed so formidable. It was also the beginning of the Kingdom of God being manifested in a new way in the earth in commerce and government.

In 2001, the Lord spoke something during my quiet time that altered the course of my life: “There are two distinctly separate economic systems in the earth. The first is the economy of the world and the second is My economy. I am preparing to make My economic system the dominant system in the earth…” I was stunned at those words. Over the succeeding years, He began to reveal to me, through the Scripture, a vast system of economics, government, justice and righteousness that is an extension of His Kingdom government. These governments and their economic systems produce tangible effects on their citizens. Both systems are present day, fully functioning realities that are in direct conflict in their core values. Both governmental systems produce in their citizens a worldview that drives behavior and the decision-making grid work for your life and entire nations. These worldviews are expressed in how you manage people, govern nations, run businesses, follow employers, treat family, deal with clients, pay bills and taxes, and fulfill your contracts. This worldview affects everything about your life. If you are a citizen of the Kingdom of God, your citizenship is in the most dominant force in existence.

Supernatural It is important to know that if you live by the economic system of the Kingdom, you have some remarkable benefits that are not available to you if you live by the economy of the world. The Kingdom provides the privilege of citizenship of living in an economic system that functions supernaturally. Genesis 26:12-14 is an example of the supernatural at work. “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants…” To put that in investment terminology, Isaac planted one seed and got a 10,000% return on his seed! A few years ago, I was in El Salvador ministering and asked an agricultural engineer about that verse. She said, “It is a complete impossibility for this to happen. It is supernatural.” Supernatural has practical application in commerce and government as well. It means as citizens of the Kingdom, the power, force and revelation of the Sovereign Ruler of the universe – the Most High God – is available to us, as He determines. I know a man who works for the leading scientific organization in the world. By his own admission, he is not a businessman. During a time of prayer and intercession, God gave this man a formula in his field of expertise during 10 minutes. He patented the formula and took it to the chief scientist who said, “How did you get this? I’ve had a whole team of scientists working on this problem for 30 years!” That is what supernatural looks like today. Is the voice of Holy Spirit whispering something to you? This kind of thing comes by revelation, which is a gift from God. Supernatural is the atmosphere of the Kingdom.

ECONOMY

Kingdom Economic System of Today

Favor One of the most powerful forces in the Kingdom Economy and one of the least understood is the favor of God. The favor of God has the capacity to move you from positions of obscurity to the very center of influence in a moment of time. Favor is a supernatural instrument God uses to produce change or promotion. His favor is essential to establishing Kingdom influence in commerce and government. Favor comes with responsibility to execute the purposes of God within that sphere of influence, not just so you can have a testimony of His favor on your life. Favor always produces tangible results. Favor is one of the privileges of citizenship in the Kingdom and a significant element in the workings of His economic system.

The Economy of the World This economic system is a ruthless taskmaster, but in order for you to understand the Kingdom economy, you must also understand this one. Jesus spoke many times about the world. The Greek word for “world” is kosmos, which means an ordered system of things. This ordered system is hostile to the cause of Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom. Revelation 18:1-3 describes the pending demise of this ordered system by referring to the “kings of the earth” (government leaders) and “…the merchants of the earth…” (commercial leaders). When you live by the economic principles of the world, there is no supernatural for you. It will always demand more time and more effort; there will never be enough because the more you get, the more you will want. It is a system that always produces an attitude of lack. Your success, your future, and your destiny depend on your efforts and abilities – the favor of God cannot work on your behalf.

The Economy of the Kingdom When you live in God’s economic system, because the full force and power of the Kingdom is behind it, you will grow in the understanding that it is a system of full supply. The very provision of God waits for the obedient. With His provision comes the peace and confidence that the ultimate responsibility for finances for your family, your businesses, your employees, is His. You are responsible to work diligently, and intelligently, but He opens His hand and brings the increase. Consider Deuteronomy 11:10 “For the land, into which you are entering to possess it, is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, where you used to sow your seed and water it with your foot like a vegetable garden.” The people of Israel were coming into, not only a new land that God had prepared for them, but also a new system of governance and economics. Moses was approximately three months from 26

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

dying and he was describing how their new agriculture businesses would differ from what they were familiar with. In Egypt, a system of treadmills watered the crops. They would stand on the treadmill to pump the waters of the Nile into the fields for irrigation. When they were tired, sick, or old and couldn’t operate the treadmills, there was no water for the crops. Irrigation was based on human effort. Moses said they were coming to a new land and a new way of conducting business. He said in verses 11-15 that this land “…drinks water from the rain of heaven.” He described the land as: “…the eyes of the Lord are always on it…” They would not have to water their crops; God would provide the irrigation by sending the former rain (fall rains) and the latter rain (spring rains). Imagine the paradigm shift required for a people who for over 400 years knew only slavery, domination and hard labor. In this new land, they had to work the fields, but God would provide the irrigation! Moses said there was a caveat in God’s involvement: “…if you listen obediently to my commandments…” You may say, “Great bible study; but I don’t have an agricultural business. How does this work today?” Kingdom living is always counter-cultural, whether in your family, your businesses, on Sunday morning, in a university, in a hospital room, etc. No matter what expression it takes, it is counter to the culture of the world. That means as a believer in Jesus, you will never feel comfortable living in the world’s economic system. If you are comfortable, there is a problem and repentance is called for. When you and I decide to live by the principles of the Kingdom in the area of economics, you will step away from that compelling need for more. You will surrender your possessions, your careers and aspirations, your businesses, and your destiny. It is always about positioning yourself for the blessing of God, as He defines the blessing.

What does this mean for you? If you are owed money and your debtor is struggling to repay you, consider forgiving the debt. If you own a business, consider using some of your profits or your products to benefit widows or orphans. If you have accumulated vast wealth, consider surrendering it all to the Lord and ask Him how He would have you steward His money. It is all His anyways and when you surrender all your resources, you are simply agreeing with an existing reality of the Kingdom. The Kingdom Economy is about tithes and offerings, it is about giving and receiving, but it is also about understanding this vast, comprehensive system of economics God gave to us in Scripture that is meant to distinguish us from the world and establish His Kingdom. This understanding is essential for you and I as we seek to fulfill our roles in our communities and our generation.

How Does This Work? In Egypt, they labored seven days a week. If you labor seven days a week, you are living by the wrong system. In the land that God gave the Israelites, they not only took the Sabbath rest weekly, but every seventh year was a Sabbath year! When was the last time you took a Sabbath year? If you “own” it, you are responsible to maintain it. If you are a “steward” of what God has graciously provided, He is responsible. The atmosphere of the Kingdom is one of freedom to live under the shadow of His wings. It is liberating!

We have entered a new season. It is a season for you to establish, not endure. We are about to experience the manifestation of the sovereignty of God like the world has never known. You have access to the wisdom, knowledge, prophetic insight, and inspiration of heaven. Most believers in the marketplace are confused between a passion they feel for business or government and the passion to serve God. They feel when they choose their passion, the very thing they have been equipped by God to do, they are choosing a lower life or a lesser thing. You are not choosing a lower life. The passion to serve God avails you of the power to transform for the Kingdom. It is available whether you are an economics professor, a CEO, a carpenter, a pastor, or a mom with 5 kids. Walk in God’s anointing – walk in His Kingdom economic system.

God has given us an economic system that is practical, powerful, and dominant. His system is clearly laid out in the Old and New Testament, and needs no upgrades. God established a system for capital accumulation (the Year of Jubilee, Leviticus 25:10), income maximization (edges and corners of the fields were to be left unharvested so the poor, the widows and orphans could have it, Leviticus 19:9), debt retirement (every seven years there was to be debt cancelation, Deuteronomy15:9), and there was more. God said if they obeyed His directives, His desire for His people was that they would be a lender, not a borrower. The result was when they followed the ways of the Lord, there was no long-term debt; the blessing of God was on their small businesses, and they became a lender.

PRINCIPLES The Principle of Addition

THE PRINCIPLE OF ADDITION By Dr. Myles Munroe

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

P

rovision in the Kingdom is made available by its unique economic system through a concept called the principle of addition. In order to unlock God’s divine strategy for provision, we must first somehow break out of our traditional mind-set that says that unless we sweat and labor and strive and concentrate all our energy on our daily needs, they will not be met. Maybe that’s the way you feel. Perhaps you are struggling with this whole idea of seeking first the Kingdom and righteousness of God and leaving everything else to Him. All this does not mean that you don’t work to support your family; it means that you don’t obsess over meeting your needs. Instead, you seek to obey God in your daily life and trust Him to provide as He has promised. God wants to pay your bills. He knows you need food and water and shelter. He wants you to have a nice house that is suitable for your family. He wants you to have a car. He wants you to have a bike. God wants to give you the desires of your heart As a matter of fact; He wants to fulfill your highest dreams because He is the one who put those dreams in your heart. What He does not want is for you to put your dreams and desires ahead of Him. That’s why Jesus says that all these things will be added to you.

But what exactly does “added” mean?

When God adds to your life it means: 1. Things will be attracted to you. They will be added like a magnet 2. Things will find you. You won’t have to chase them or hunt them down.

3. Things will come to your life. They may appear suddenly and unexpectedly and often from an unexpected source or direction

4. Things will come without stress. Some people are so

tired from working for what they want that when they finally get it they are too stressed out to enjoy it. That’s nothing but foolishness. Life is to be savored and enjoyed, not stressed over. When God adds to your life He will add it without stress

5. Things will be given as a favor and reward, like a gift, not as something you earned.

6. Things will come without struggle. You won’t have to fight or compete or play “keep up with the Joneses.” When it comes, it will be effortless on your part.

7. Things will be seen as natural. When something is added

to your life it will come naturally, as if it was inevitable.

8. Things will be given to you as needed. Remember, God

adds things not for your personal benefit or selfish use alone but for fulfilling His purpose. If you don’t really need something, don’t be surprised if you do not receive it until you do need it.

9. Things will not be pursued. If you are pursuing the Kingdom and righteousness, you won’t have time to pursue other things as your highest priority. That’s why God will give them to you.

10. Things will not be your source. Things are commodities,

tools, resources to be used to advance God’s Kingdom on earth. Don’t look to them as your source of happiness or self-worth or fulfillment. God is your source. Look to Him.

PRINCIPLES The Principle of Addition

THE ADDITION PRINCIPLE

T

he Kingdom principle of addition is founded on four significant truths that are uniquely characteristic of kingdoms. All four relate to the relationship that exists between the King and His citizens.

1.

A

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

P

rovisions for life are the responsibility of the king and not the citizen.

Democracies are built on the principles of capitalism and free and open markets. Every person in a democracy is free to make his or her own way, free to seek and enjoy the good life. In fact, they are obligated to because no one will do it for them. Yet for many, including many believers, making their own way isn’t working. The daily rat race really drags them down. Every day is a struggle, money is always in short supply, and they see no end in sight to these circumstances. Common wisdom says, “Go for your piece of the pie,” but the pie is so small that there seems not to be enough for everybody to get some. Consequently, most people live and die never having tasted anything but crumbs. This is a system we live in on earth, but Jesus says, “That’s all wrong! You are Kingdom citizens. Provision for life is not your responsibility; it’s mine. So stop worrying about all this stuff. Let Me take care of it! I know it’s tough to break away from the system because the system is built for dependency. Nevertheless, let go of the system. Learn to depend on Me.” Some of you may wonder if I am advising you to become irresponsible. Not at all. I’m actually encouraging you to become more responsible by trusting the King. It takes more responsibility to live in the Kingdom than to live in the system of the world.

ll that is needed for sustenance and life is the obligation of the king.

In a democracy, every citizen has to earn his own living and make his own way. The government tries to create an environment in which every citizen can succeed but takes no direct responsibility for the care and welfare of its citizens at a personal level. Success levels among citizens vary due to education, motivation, opportunity, and a host of other factors. This is why every democratic society has rich people, poor people, and those in between. Compare this to a kingdom, where the care and welfare of every citizen is the direct and personal responsibility of the king. This doesn’t mean, of course, that the king personally visits every citizen and takes care of every need single-handedly - a wise king delegates those responsibilities - but it does mean that the buck stops with him. Anything that any citizen lacks reflects poorly on the king and on the quality of his rule. A king, therefore, has a vested interest in making sure all his citizens prosper, because prosperous citizens make for a prosperous kingdom. And a prosperous kingdom brings glory to the king. In fact, a king is obligated to take care of his citizens because he owns everything in his kingdom and they will have nothing unless he gives it to them. Consequently, and unlike a democracy, there are no poor people in a kingdom. Nobody is poor because nobody owns anything. But all citizens have equal access to the king’s assets. I am speaking, of course, of an ideal kingdom, a perfect kingdom with a perfect, omnipotent and benevolent king who always and in every situation works for the good and greater welfare of his citizens. Clearly, no such kingdom can be

found among today’s earthly governments. Only the Kingdom of Heaven and its divine King meet these criteria. And He has promised to meet the needs and protect the welfare of His people.

K

ingdom favor is the unearned provision of the king.

The Kingdom of Heaven does not operate on a system of wages and earnings. This is a good thing, because none of us could ever earn our way into Heaven. Eternal life is unavailable us, completely out of our reach, unless it is given (added) to us as a gift. And this is exactly what

God has done: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23) The gift of God’s unearned provision is called favor. He gives because He chooses to, not because we deserve it. Favor is the system upon which the Kingdom of God operates. Nothing we receive in the Kingdom do we receive because we worked for it. Anything we work for constitutes earnings, not additions. Additions always come to us unearned. Yet still we work and fret and labor and sweat to secure the things we need and want and wonder why the Kingdom of Heaven is not “working” for us. The answer is very simple: the Kingdom does not operate on works; it operates on favor. We cannot expect the Kingdom’s provisions to come our way until we learn to operate by the Kingdom’s system.

4.

M

an was never designed to pursue personal provisions but the influence of Heaven on earth.

Our purpose on earth as Kingdom citizens and ambassadors is to spread the awareness and the influence of God’s Kingdom throughout the earth. Pursuing provision was never part of God’s master plan for us. That’s why Jesus said, “Don’t worry about food or drink or clothing, because your heavenly Father knows you need these things.” When we are about our Kingdom purpose, our King will supply all the provisions we need to do the job. The “Lord’s Prayer” (or “Model Prayer”) recorded in Matthew 6:9-13, which Jesus used to teach His disciples how to pray, contains only one phrase related to provision: “Give us today our daily bread” (Matt. 6:11). This phrase serves to reorient our hearts and minds to the One who is our true Source and Provider. The real focus of our prayers should be, “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matt. 6:9-10). In other words, we should pray (and work) for the influence of the Kingdom to advance throughout the earth and let the King handle all the logistics. God’s desire is that we not live for things, but live for His influence.

KINGDOM PROVISION AND PURPOSE Provision is a by-product of obedience. It is not a wage paid for work performed or for services rendered. Jesus promised that if we seek the Kingdom and righteousness of God that all the provisions we need for life will be added to us. Everything necessary for us to live righteously as Kingdom citizens will be provided. But our heart and mind, our will and desire, must be inclined toward consistent obedience to the King. This kind of obedience involves much more than simple adherence to external rules and regulations or mere outward behavioral changes. You can obey on the outside and still possess a rebellious, disobedient heart. This is a very old problem, extending as far back as the Garden of Eden. In fact, the ancient Hebrew prophet Isaiah records this complaint of God about His people: “The Lord says: ‘These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men” (Isa. 29:13) As far as God is concerned, external obedience with a disobedient heart is not obedience at all. Obedience that releases Kingdom provision begins in the heart and manifest in our outward lives. In other words, true external obedience is the result of an obedient heart. False external obedience is nothing more than a calculated ploy to manipulate God into giving us what we want, and it will fail every time. This is why many believers are perplexed today. They go to church, they read their Bible, they pray, they give their tithe and their time, and yet nothing seems to be working. The Kingdom storehouse is still shut to them. The reason? They are not living right. Their hearts are not clean and pure before God. Despite their outward display of righteousness, their hearts are out of alignment with the Kingdom government. In the Bible, abundant provision and prosperity clearly are linked to obedience to God.

Shortly before the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, Moses gave them this charge and promise from God: “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.” (Deuteronomy 28:1-6 NKJV). When we obey the Lord with our whole heart, His blessings will “overtake” us. This means that when God’s blessings come to us, they will be more than we know what to do with. To be blessed in the fruit of our body and the produce of our ground means that God will bless and guard our investments. The increase in our herds means that the accumulations of our wealth will be multiplied. Everywhere we go, wherever we turn and in whatever we touch we will be blessed. Success, favor, and influence for the Kingdom will expand at every turn. If we obey God’s commands from our heart, the provision of the Kingdom will overtake us. In addition to the issue of obedience in the Kingdom, is the issue of ownership. The principle of provision and prosperity in the Kingdom is access, not ownership or pursuit. Wealth in the Kingdom of God is defined not as having things stored up but rather having access to things that are stored up. When we avidly and anxiously pursue things such as food, water, clothing, housing and the like, we imply that we believe these things are scarce, and unless we fight alongside everybody else we will not get our piece of the pie. There is no lack of anything in the Kingdom of God; no shortages and no rationing. On the contrary, there are boundless amounts of everything. The King owns everything; we own nothing. Because the King owns everything, He can give anything in any amount to any of

PRINCIPLES The Principle of Addition

His children anytime He wants to. The principle of provision and addition involves being in the position through right living to have access to as much as we need of anything that we need to carry out our assignment from God. Look at it this way. Imagine that your father is a billionaire and he says to you, “I will give you a choice. I will either set up a $1 million account for you to live on that is exclusively yours or, in lieu of your own account, I will give you complete and unlimited access to everything I have.” Which would you choose: $1 million that is yours free and clear or free access to billions? It’s a no-brainer! And yet when it comes to matters on the Kingdom of God, many of us pass on unlimited access in favor of getting and hoarding our little piece of the pie. Does that make any sense? True wealth is found not in an abundance of possessions but in unlimited access to infinite resources. We need access to such resources because man was not created to work for provision but for purpose. And what is our purpose? To spread the knowledge and influence of the Kingdom of Heaven over all the earth. Success in such an assignment requires adequate daily provision. Just as no wise general will send his troops onto the battlefield without making sure they have all the equipment and provisions they

need to accomplish their mission, neither will God send us forth to fulfill our purpose without providing us with the resources to carry it out. So whenever and wherever we go to work we should be motivated not by the promise of a paycheck but by the calling of our King to spread His Kingdom throughout the world, starting in our own workplace. Man was created to work out his assignment, not work for a living. This doesn’t mean we stop working; it means we change our reason for working. Working for a paycheck can inspire only so far and for only so long. But to go to work every day knowing that we are living for a higher purpose - and eternal purpose - can place our work in a whole new light. In the Kingdom, assignment determines access. What does that mean? It’s very simple. Whatever you were born to do is how rich you are. If you are trying to get rich so you can say you are richer than everybody else, your pursuit will end up killing you (or make you so miserable you will wish you were dead. If you are committed to your Kingdom purpose, however, God will prosper you to whatever degree necessary for you to succeed determines your access to the provisions of the King. It is far more important to find our assignment than to pursue things because the things that come into our lives come to

help us fulfill our God-given assignment. If God has given you a $10 billion assignment, pursue that assignment faithfully and He will give you the $10 billion. We do not receive wealth for ourselves but for carrying out our assignment. That’s why Jesus told us not to worry about things. Pursue the Kingdom assignment first and the things will be added. Therefore, in the Kingdom, purpose attracts provision. Whenever a king makes an assignment, he makes full provision for its completion. When Nehemiah received permission from the king of Persia to return to Jerusalem and rebuild its walls, the king gave him a letter authorizing him to utilize whatever of the king’s resources were necessary, whether wood from the king’s forests or stone from the king’s quarries or tar from the king’s tar pits Nehemiah embarked on his task confident that he had everything he needed to succeed. The King of Heaven is the same way. God will never assign us something that He does not give us the provisions to complete. Our part is to pursue the end - the assignment; God’s part is to supply the means. This is why establishing our priority is so important. Priority with purpose produces provision.

A CHARGE TO ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

A CHARGE TO ACCOUNTABLE

LEADERSHIP By Sylvia Jordan

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

D

ue to the recent elections in our cities, states and country, I thought this would be an appropriate time to address the importance of leadership, as well as the accountability that should be required of those who are privileged to hold public office. In addition to the upcoming state, gubernatorial, and presidential elections, those aspiring for office must remain accountable. In today’s political climate everyone is calling for moral leadership from its public officials. It saddens me when I hear the disparaging thoughts that resonate among the citizens of our community. As we read our newspapers, listen to the radio and watch our televisions we see our public servants being held accountable for their irresponsible actions. There is also a decline in true leadership outside of the political arena. Now is the time that we need to hold our leaders and elected officials to a standard of accountability. Moreover, they are vital ingredients in the consistent demise of our communities. For years we have seen a decline in the components that once defined leadership. I believe there are three mechanisms that are necessary for public leadership: integrity, honesty and faithfulness to one’s word. According to the dictionary, integrity is defined as “the adherence to a person’s moral and ethical principles and soundness of moral character.” An elected official should be true to the community in which they serve. A public servant must have a moral conviction, imbedded within themselves, that drives them to be who are as well as what they do while representing their constituency. A man/woman’s integrity speaks to their heart-held convictions and the will to remain true to that which lies within, regardless of what may happen around them. Honesty, however, involves the process of living or acting out of one’s integrity. The slogan “do the right thing” only speaks to the value or belief system of an individual or their integrity. In spite of the temptation to vote according to the polls or the popular opinion, an honest leader will make their choices according to their internal barometer. If a leader is honest his/her actions will follow even if it is not the common or popular thing to do. Thus, an honest leader knows restraint when faced with persuading a trusting constituency toward a goal that is not advantageous. Throughout history, men and women have been taught to keep their ‘word’. However, in politics this practice has become a dying art. Today, elections are run on ‘win at all cost’ platforms with promises that are unrealistic and are not often carried out by the elected official. Sometimes, there are those who are eager to bring about promised changes but are unaware of the process that would involve doing so. A true leader demonstrates the character and willingness to follow through on that which he/she has committed, in word, so that it might be brought into fruition. In challenging our leaders to be men and women of integrity, honesty and faithfulness to their ‘word’, I must also ask the same of our electorate. As voters, I encourage you to hold your elected officials accountable. By casting your vote, you demonstrate a trust, belief and hope in those that you have nominated. As a supporter, you absolutely have certain rights and expectations that should be met by prospective officials. Do not allow your concerns to be ignored. Make sure that the elected are cognizant of your needs and understand those things that directly affect you, your family and your immediate community. HOW TO HAVE AN AMAZING LIFE By Mike Hawkins

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

One

of the most memorable days of my life began on a breezy, sunny day in Galveston Texas. On that day, my two sons and me were on the Galveston strand having ‘daddy-son’ time looking for some fun. Stumbling upon a human maze we found the adventure we were looking for. It was composed of walls that were approximately seven feet tall. There was a tower in the middle that allowed the parents to go up and watch the children meander about seeking their goal, which in this case was the finish line.

Off to the races they went! My oldest son came to the first intersection, stopped, thought for a moment, looked both ways and turned left. I watched him, as he very purposefully, very surely, and very much on a mission, made his way down the path. I saw ahead of him that the path took a right, a left, another left, and then ended. I remember thinking to myself, “You are wasting your time and energy. The path you’re on is going to end. Not only will it end, but you are going to have to turn around and go all the way back down the path you are now traveling, just to get back on the right path.” I wonder when Jonah got off track with God, if God thought, as I did that day about my son, “Son, you are going to have to come all the way back the way you’re now going. But no worries”, I’m sure God said, “I’m going to call you a cab.” And sure enough, an 80-feet, 120-ton taxi pulled up with a nice set of fins. That taxi (which resembled a whale) took him back to the place where he got off track. As Dr. Myles Munroe says, “Your crisis comes to correct things in your life.” If you are prone to wonder, have no fear, God has a fleet of whales able, at a moment’s notice, to pick you up. As the psalmist said, “Before I was afflicted, I went astray”. Affliction surely has a way of getting us back on track with our Savior. You may be wondering what ever happened to my other son? Well he came up to his first intersection and the first thing he did was stop. Immediately after stopping, he looked up to me in the tower. My first reaction was to shout out, “take a right!” But because the other parents were with me, and their kids were in the maze, I couldn’t. In that moment I felt helpless, my son just standing there not moving until I gave him direction, and I was trapped in a tower not able to communicate my will to him. Then a thought came to mind, I will look in the direction I want him to go. So as our eyes locked on to each other, I looked to the right, and he got it. When he came to the next intersection he never attempted to figure it out on his own, instantly he would look up to me. And each time he looked into my eyes, I would look the way he was to go. Psalms 32:8 says “ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” It is amazing to me how many of us never look up. How many of us live the opposite of what Proverbs 3:5 states. While preaching in a rather large church I said, “I want to quote a verse from the Bible. I have memorized a good portion of the Bible and don’t need to even turn there. But if you will look at Proverbs 3:5 you will notice it says, ‘Trust in your understanding with all your heart, lean not on the Lord, and your understanding will guide you in all your ways.’ ” Out in

the audience I saw a man shaking his head back and forth. I said, “Sir, did you have a problem with that verse?” He said, “ I don’t have a problem with the verse but I do have a problem with the way YOU say it reads.” I said, “Oh I’m sorry, I keep getting confused between what the Bible says and how some of us act.” It seems to me that when most of us come to a crossroad in life, instead of looking up, we look right and left. Immediately we go into “leaning on our own understanding” mode. Especially men. How many times have we come to a place where we must make a decision and instantly our brains kick in and go to work? We do everything but acknowledge Him in ALL our ways. We think we have to figure everything out. We start looking at all the pros and the cons. We start asking all those around us. We get on the computer and Bing our situation to see what others have done. Do you know when we finally look up? When all else fails. How many times have you heard it said, “Well, you’ve done all you can do, the only thing you can do now is pray”? The Word doesn’t say “Do everything YOU can do, if that doesn’t work, trust the Lord.”

M

any times we have it backwards. Just as my son came to the intersection and didn’t even attempt to figure it out, but looked to me first; so we should form the habit when we come to a crossroads in life, our first inclination is to look up. By looking up I’m speaking of seeking God. That should be the first and foremost thing that comes to our minds. Decide today that the first thing you are going to do in your decision-making is, “Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God.” The way we seek the will of the Kingdom is to seek the mind of the King. By doing this, your life will become better. Does God want you to use your brain? Absolutely, but not first. What works for me in making decisions is that my first course of action has become to ‘go to the mountain’ (the place where I have my quiet time with God). It’s in the mountain of solitude that my soul settles down. I acknowledge only God in that time and determine if I sense him leaning a certain direction. If He doesn’t give me direction then I proceed to seek the multitude of counselors and begin to incorporate the brain He gave me. But first, make sure you give Him the option to speak to you. You are not your own. The decision is not yours, to make but His. My son, who kept looking to me for direction, really enjoyed the maze. I actually saw him a couple times skipping through the maze. My other son that kept trying to figure out his next moves, kept getting frustrated and aggravated. God has a bird’s eye view on you. Your Heavenly Father longs for you to look up. He sees. He knows. He longs to show you the way. Let Him guide you with is eye. If you look deep into his eye guess what you’ll see? That’s right, YOU! His word says that those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior are the apple of His eye. Those who have made this King, their King, are able to enjoy a Kingdom free of confusion, frustration and fear. KINGDOMLIFEMAG.COM

HOW TO HAVE AN AMAZING LIFE

The Kingdom I’m talking about has peace and possesses joy! Jesus told His disciples, “I have told you these things so my joy would be in you and your joy would be filled to the top.” Who do you think finished the race first? Of course the one that got the help from the tower. If you want to reach your destiny, look up. If you want peace in your life, stop making your own decisions and look up. If you want the joy of His salvation back into your life, repent for taking over the wheel of your life and give your will back to Him. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path. Once you do that, your ‘maze’ will become an amazing journey. Mike Hawkins is a real estate developer. The Power of Access

ACCESS

The Power of Access By Richard Pinder

I

4. The fall of man was a fall from dominion not from heaven. 5. The purpose and goal of God’s redemptive plan is to restore mankind back to God’s original plan. 6. The restoration of God’s king-dominion to earth is God’s ultimate goal.

would not want to assume that everyone understands what I am referring to when I use the term “Kingdom”, so it is important to set some foundation for the proper discussion of “Access”.

In Genesis 1:26, we observe the following statement by God: Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them have DOMINION and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Because of God’s plan, man was created in a specific way for a specific purpose – rulership.

Our approach to the Bible needs to be from a perspective of understanding that we are not discussing a religious book but a legal document, which reveals God’s plan and purpose for the establishment of earth. The Bible is really about a King, a Kingdom and his family or children. It is about the relationship between the King and his children: The Royal Family.

This message of the Kingdom was the message that Jesus preached. In Matthew 4:17 we note, “And from that time forward Jesus began to preach; Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The term, “is at hand” means ‘has arrived’ or ‘is here’. In other words, Jesus was indicating that the possibility of entering the Kingdom and having access to all that is in the Kingdom is now available. Those were revolutionary words, which was good news to those seeking a genuine relationship with God. But on the other hand, it was very troubling for those who simply wanted to maintain the religious status quo.

It is also essential that we approach our subject with an understanding of God’s original purpose and plan or initial intention. It is important to know:

1. God extended his heavenly Kingdom on earth through mankind. 2. God created man to manage and administrate his king-dominion on earth.

44

3. The purpose and destiny of mankind is dominion and rulership over the earth.

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

Webster’s dictionary defines a Kingdom as, “a politically organized community or major territorial unit having a monarchical form of government headed by a king or queen, the eternal kingship of God.” Dr. Myles Munroe offers an even more comprehensive definition. He defines a Kingdom as, “The governing influence of a King over his territory, impacting it with his personal will, purpose and intent producing a culture, values, morals and lifestyle that reflects the King’s desires and nature for his citizens.

Adam was given access based on God’s strategies:

Richard Pinder

I

t is important to note that a Kingdom is not a religion but a government. In 2 Corinthians 5:20, we are referred to as Ambassadors: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” If we are indeed ambassadors, we need to have access to the Kingdom we are from in order to properly represent it. With this understanding, I believe we can now approach the subject of Access. Access is based on the understanding that in the Kingdom of God, the wealth and resources is commonwealth. For the purposes of this context, I define commonwealth as:

1 2 3 4

That there would be sufficient resources for man to fulfill God’s purpose That there would never be any lack based on adherence to Kingdom principles Man always has to work because work is the discovery and perfection of his gifting

Work was not created to make money but to fulfill purpose. [Matthew 6:19-20 (NASB) admonishes us to seek to fulfill purpose and not simply live to accumulate things. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;”] In conclusion, I want to leave you with the following thoughts – I call these

The secrets of access

1

2. A citizen’s common access to the bountiful resources of the economic wealth of the King

Access was given to Adam and was not recalled by God – In other words, the intention of God for you and I to always be able to access what we need to fulfill purpose was not cancelled. It is still in effect today, but it requires knowledge and understanding of the Kingdom.

3. Equal access by all citizens of the Kingdom community to the provisions and protections of a royal government.

2

1. The constitutional obligation of a King to the welfare of His citizens

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) guarantees, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” The supply in the Kingdom of God is common. Ephesians 2:12-13 (KJV) confirms that by the blood of Jesus, we have been included in the commonwealth covenant. “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Because of God’s plan for man to dominate the earth and fill it with His influence, He created man accordingly. Genesis 2:15-16 (NIV) “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;”

Adam lost access because of sin – Sin simply disrupted our ability to have access but it could not terminate that ability.

3

The second Adam (Jesus) restored access to man – Since it was a man that lost the initial access, it was necessary for another man to restore that access. The second Adam restored our ability to access our inheritance and rights.

4

Jesus performed “miracles” based on access – Not only did the second Adam (Jesus) restore our access, but he also showed us how to access what is available to us. We call those demonstrations of access miracles.

DEPARTURE FROM GLORY Dr. Jerry Horner

W

ith her dying breath, the wife of Phinehas named her newborn baby Ichabod, because “the glory has departed from Israel” (1 Sam. 4:21). America is headed for the rock pile of civilization, and unless we experience a moral and spiritual regeneration, the same statement may soon be said of our country. Israel’s conception as a nation was the noblest and purest. It produced the most ethical religion ever known on earth, and yet no other nation fell so low. If it can happen to Israel, it can happen to any nation. I challenge you to read history and see if you discover any nation that has ever gone the way America is going and survived. As you study the rise and fall of nations, you will find three unalterable characteristics. (1) Every nation, no matter how pure its conception, has always gone corrupt. (2) When spiritual decay sets in, the majority of the people are unaware of it, and most of those who are aware of it are indifferent to it. (3) The cause for the collapse of every nation has not been external conquest, but internal rottenness. If America dies, it will not be murder; it will be suicide, and a more appropriate national symbol will be a vulture instead of an eagle. I heard about a city-dweller who raised a pig so he could save money on meat. When slaughtering time came, he notified his butcher, “Don’t send me any more meat—I’m butchering myself.” We don’t have to wait for terrorists or a foreign power to destroy our country—we are butchering ourselves. Right now we have almost enough rope to hang ourselves.

48

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

E

very day the foundations of our fathers are being dug up, the principles by which our nation began are being blasted, and a new system is emerging that bears little resemblance to the original. The tragedy is that many Americans are so heavily sedated by the chicanery of suave politicians that they are unaware of what’s happening. Others who are aware of it indifferent are indifferent to it. Anybody who dares to speak against the trend is ignored or outlawed as a narrow-minded intolerant right-wing religious extremist. A well-known politician was fond of saying, “If you want to get along, go along.” This is a day of “go-alongism,” and those who subscribe to that policy most often find themselves compromising with things they should be confronting. Do I need to remind you of what happened when Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain went along with Adolf Hitler? It’s better to die for a conviction than to live by compromise. One of our senators remarked that our early victories in American history were products of “reckless youth favored by an improbable run of luck” and that now “we must come of age.” Some of us still believe that the overruling guidance of God had a hand in the exploits of our forefathers. Instead of rewriting our history and giving it a slant that won’t offend certain people, we need to recover the fervor that made this country great. We ought to make certain that every school child and every foreigner coming here to live learns what it means to be an American, and the price our founders paid to make this the land of the free. It was a costly venture to establish this nation, and it may cost more to maintain it as our forefathers intended it to be. There is a sinister breeze blowing across our nation today, and many well-meaning citizens welcome it as the ushering in of a new era. In reality, it is deceptive and demonic, and it will destroy the greatness of America if it isn’t checked. This country is overrun by powerful cliques with their own agenda that feathers their own nests, but does little to solve the real problems. They have thrown the Bible out of the schools and left it in the motels. They handcuff the policemen and let the criminals go free. The Supreme Court can’t come to a satisfactory decision concerning pornography in the malls and on the Internet, but they have no difficulty in ruling on prayer in schools. Why is it so necessary for the leaders of our country to be spiritually and morally right with God? The reason is simple—any decision made outside the will of God is a dangerous one. During this election year, we will have a lot of people running for everything and standing for nothing. Furthermore, some of them who are running ought to be hiding, and if what they say about each other is true, some of them ought to be in jail. The sin of corrupt leaders is terrible, but the sin of society is greater for allowing such a condition to exist. It’s a tragedy that the majority of Americans don’t care about the moral and spiritual purity of the people running for office or the ungodly issues that they promote. Their only concern is whether or not they will raise wages or lower taxes and put more money in our pockets. History remembers Patrick Henry for declaring, “Give me liberty or give me death!” The modern American has shortened that statement to just plain “gimme.” I read a newspaper article about a woman in Brunswick, Georgia, whose purse was stolen from her car, parked in her driveway. According to the police report, the purse was valued at $400, her wallet was valued at $200, and she said there was $800 cash in the purse. The woman’s food stamp cards were also missing. What a society! Inmates are running the asylum and patients are writing the prescriptions. Surely, out of the millions of citizens in this country, there must be some statesman willing to be a voice instead of an echo and who has the courage to stand for biblical righteousness over political correctness. Our country needs leaders who are not for sale, leaders who are honest and true to the heart’s core, leaders who are sound from center to circumference, leaders with conscience as steady as the needle to the pole. We have become a presumptuous people, presuming upon God’s blessings. We think that as long as we call ourselves a Christian nation, even with all our corruption and immorality, God is obligated to protect us. It’s even on our money that we trust in God, and we declare in our pledge to the flag that we are a nation under God, so nothing evil can happen to us. We think that God is on our side. God doesn’t take sides; God takes over. He is not obligated to deliver any nation that forsakes His law and rejects His standard of holiness. We need a prophetic voice in this pathetic wilderness. There are plenty of echoes in this age of “me-tooism,” but few spokesmen for God. We need a mighty stirring among old-fashioned patriotic Americans and old-fashioned genuine Christians to turn the tide and change the direction of our country’s destiny. There are enough of us to do it, and God will hold us responsible if we don’t do it. There is no time to lose.

Dr. Jerry Horner has been a university professor and administrator since 1962. He has served as the president of Bethesda Christian College in Anaheim, California, the dean of Peniel College of Higher Education in Brentwood, Essex, England, the dean of the School of Theology at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK and he was the founding dean of the School of Divinity at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. GOSPEL

The Gospel of Salvation vs.The Gospel of the Kingdom

“The Gospel of Salvation vs. the Gospel of the Kingdom By Os Hillman

Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10)

I

want you to imagine a conversation between Joshua and God. “Now Joshua, I have called you to take the leadership from Moses and I want you now to take my people across the Jordan River into the Promised Land. However, once you cross the Jordan River I want you and all your people to sit down. Your mission is done.” “Ridiculous!” you might say. I would agree with you. But, in many ways, this is exactly what the American Church has done in the last fifty years. We have preached the Gospel of Salvation, but we have not taught the people to apply the message of the Gospel to their everyday life. This is the difference between the Gospel of Salvation and the Gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus did not come to merely give us a ticket to Heaven. He came to bring us much more-the Kingdom of God on earth. Nowhere in the Bible will you find the term, Gospel of Salvation. The Church does not exist for Heaven, but for earth. If it existed only for Heaven, then each of us would immediately be taken to Heaven. Oswald Chambers said, “It is not a question of being saved from hell, but in being saved in order to manifest the Son of God in our mortal flesh.” There would be no reason for us to remain on earth if there was not a work to be done. So why has God allowed us to receive this new birth and remain on earth? It is so that we might bring the Kingdom of God into our world – our families, our workplace, and our communities. Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God more than 70 times in the New Testament – much more often than He mentioned salvation. While salvation is part of bringing the Kingdom of God on earth, it includes much more. When Jesus came to earth, He came in order to penetrate the very kingdom of darkness with light. He came to bring healing to sickness, replace sadness with joy, and fill meaninglessness with purpose. He came to change things for the better for a world that had no hope outside of God. Chuck 50

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

Colson cites, “Genuine Christianity is more than a relationship with Jesus, as expressed in personal piety, church attendance, Bible Study, and works of charity. It is more than discipleship, more than believing a system of doctrines about God. Genuine Christianity is a way of seeing and comprehending all reality. It is a worldview.” God wants you to bring the Kingdom of God into the territory He has given you so that His will can be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Your domain is your workplace, family, and community. When the Gospel of the Kingdom comes into a life and a community, everything in its environment is impacted. However, we need to understand how the Church got to this place of being stuck on the Gospel of Salvation. In 1999 we hosted a marketplace conference in Atlanta. One of my speakers was Landa Cope. Landa is Dean of the College of Communication for Youth with a Mission University of the Nations. Landa teaches all over the world. At that time she was writing a book and teaching us from her notes. Today her book entitled, The Old Testament Template, addresses the issue of the failure of the Church to operate from Jesus’ paradigm of the Gospel of the Kingdom versus the Gospel of Salvation. She believes this is why we have had such little impact in the western Church. Her opening chapter tells a story about her sitting in her living room one day watching television when a British journalist began to say that Christians believe that the more Christians there are in a community, the more that community will be affected for good. The greater the Christian presence, the greater the benefit there was to the society at large. The TV journalist went on to describe a research project that was designed to discover if this was true. He evaluated the most

Christianized city in America to see how this influence worked out practically. He defined the most “Christianized” area as the communities with the largest percentage of regular church attendance. That city was Dallas, Texas. He looked at various statistics and studies, including crime, safety on the streets, police enforcement, and the justice and penal system. He looked at health care, hospitals, emergency care, contagious diseases, infant mortality rate, and the distribution of caregivers. He reviewed education, equality of schools, safety, test scores and graduation statistics. Jobs, housing, and general economics were also evaluated. Each of these categories was evaluated using racial and economic factors. Was there equity regardless of color, creed or income? And so on. By the time the journalist host was done with the conclusions of the Dallas study, Landa was devastated. No one would want to live in a city in that condition. The crime, the decrepit social systems, the disease, the economic discrepancies, the racial injustice all disqualified this community from having an adequate quality of life. And this was the “most Christianized” city in America. Landa wanted to weep. The host took this devastating picture of a broken community to the Christian leaders and asked for their observations. One by one, each Pastor viewed the same facts about the condition of his city. With simplicity, the narrator asked each minister, “As a Christian leader what is your response to the condition of your community?” Without exception, in various ways, they all said the same thing, “This is not our concern ... we are spiritual leaders.” Martin Luther said, “A gospel that does not deal with the issues of the day is not the gospel at all.” God is doing a unique work in the earth today. There are seasons in which the Holy Spirit speaks things to the Church. During one decade it might be a focus on evangelism. During another, it might be

a greater awareness of the Holy Spirit. During another, it might be a focus on social problems in cities. For the last several decades we have seen the Church focus on proclamation evangelism. This has been true in the workplace movement as well. In 1930 CBMC began with a focus on evangelizing men in the workplace. Twenty years later Full Gospel Businessmen International was birthed through Demos Shakarian. This too, was a focus on winning men to Christ. Billy Graham arose in prominence during the 1950s and 1960s. His crusades won many to Christ. However, in the workplace movement we began to see some discrepancies similar to Landa’s

our businesses. Many other marketplace groups were birthed along the same time frame, also with a focus on applying the Word of God to how individuals worked. In the 1990s we began to see a new focus emerge. This focus was on social entrepreneurship and social transformation. Groups like the Pinnacle Forum and HalfTime with Bob Buford began to promote social agendas using entrepreneurship from a Christian viewpoint to impact the culture. Our organization, Marketplace Leaders, was birthed in 1996. Our mission is to help men and women fulfill their purpose in and through their work life.

Gospel of Salvation versus

Gospel of the Kingdom story. We would often hear comments from Christians and non-Christians: “I will never work with a Christian. The last time I did I got burned.” The reason this was happening was that people were getting saved in the marketplace, but their lives had not been transformed. Their soul had been redeemed but their working life had not. In other words, the Gospel of the Kingdom had not been realized in their lives. It wasn’t until the 1980s that this began to change in the workplace movement. Groups like the International Christian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) emerged in 1985 and began helping men and women apply the Word of God to how they worked. Work was no longer a platform for sharing the Gospel, it was now a place to bring the presence and power of God into the very way we operated

The simplest way to understand the distinction is that the Gospel of Salvation deals only with salvation for your soul. The Gospel of the Kingdom deals with all things that the ‘cross’ affected including salvation and reconciliation of all things, along with the material world that was lost in the fall. At this stage, it is helpful for us to define what we mean by a Kingdom. Dr. Myles Munroe, author of Kingdom Principles, describes a kingdom in these terms: “A kingdom is the sovereign rulership and governing influence of a king over his territory, impacting it with his will, his intent, and his purpose, manifesting a culture and society reflecting the king’s nature, values, and morals. A kingdom is the governing impact of a king’s will over a territory or domain, his influence over a people, and a government led by a king.” Jesus’ desire was for God’s Kingdom to be manifested on earth. When He taught the disciples to pray, He petitioned His Heavenly Father by asking: “Your KINGDOMLIFEMAG.COM

kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). While we may never see God’s kingdom completely manifested on earth, as it is Heaven, Jesus IS telling us that we should ask for it and expect it. Moses was led by God not to establish a religion but a nation of people who would love, serve, and honor God. In other words, God wanted His Kingdom expressed through their lives completely.

An Incomplete Gospel

The following comparison between attributes of the Gospel of the Kingdom and the Gospel of Salvation provides a better understanding of the two. When Jesus prayed the Lord’s Prayer, He prayed for the manifestation of what was happening in Heaven to happen on earth. “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10). His emphasis was more than salvation.

Gospel of Salvation • • • • •

Proclamation evangelism/salvation Eternal, heavenly focus, evangelistic Addresses only the “Soul” “Rapture” escape mentality Sacred vs. Secular - dualism

Focuses on transaction “Win the next soul”

Gospel of the Kingdom • Soul and body • Impacts all aspects of society -Material, social, earthly, secular • Influence through servant, Godly leadership, active faith

Focuses on taking dominion “Possess the land”

The above diagram shows the contrast between the Gospel of Salvation and the Gospel of the Kingdom. One is passive; the other is active with a goal of taking possession as Joshua was instructed. One of the problems in the Church today is we often talk about “escaping this evil world” through the rapture instead of influencing the world. Research tells us that there are countries that have as much as 60% of the population who are born again Christians; yet, the culture is one that is beset with the greatest problems of crime and corruption. That is because the Gospel of Salvation has been the primary message. These are nations where there are great evangelism campaigns, but the effect on the people has been minimal due to their failure to apply the Gospel to every area of their life. Contrast this, for example to Almolonga, Guatemala where 90% of the population is Christian and there are no jails because they don’t need them. They have effectively applied the gospel to every aspect of their life. Books like the Left Behind series may be good fictional reading that has some level of truth, but it can instill a mindset that Christians are to wait for the “great escape” instead of focusing our time and energy on occupying the land and changing the culture. Jesus said He wants to return to a mature bride; that means a vibrant church that is active on impacting our world. KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

God

is interested in bringing all the kingdoms of this present world under His perfect rulership so that the earth will survive and remain for the sake of humanity. Throughout the entire Bible, God repeatedly showed His love for mankind and His desire to live and reign with us forever on earth. In the book of Revelation, we see the vision of God to repair the heavens, the earth and Jerusalem after man messed it up. He has a repair period or era for creation’s restoration. This period of restoration began as soon as man sinned in the Garden of Eden. When man lost his identity through disobedience, he immediately disconnected from his original responsibility to creation. Man is the cornerstone of all of God’s creation that holds the keys for interlocking everything in creation – so that it will function to full capacity. However, because of the fall of man, creation is in much pain waiting for man to discover and reconnect each kingdom on earth both living and non-living.

Romans 8:19-22 (NIV) “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

he reconnection of all kingdoms on earth is very important to the Kingdom of Heaven’s rulership on earth. This responsibility of reconnection has been given to the species of creation called man. When God gave man rulership (Genesis 1:26), He placed the potential and keys for balance and restoration on the inside of him. This was the sole responsibility of man and man only. God has since been pointing man back to this ecological engineering since his fall through the kingdoms of living and non-living things. God’s plan of restoration is with the involvement and help of man, and creation knows it. The sound of the seventh angel will be the greatest sound the earth and its inhabitants will ever hear. It will be the sound that will announce the unity of heaven and earth as all kingdoms submit themselves to the King. It will be the sound that announces that man has fulfilled his part in uniting the kingdoms of the earth, and God will rule as King forever and ever.

mysteries of the Kingdom begins to unfold in a dimension of understanding that will change our lives forever. God wanted us to find Him, so He placed His glory in everything that is tangible to us. We are really without excuse. Matthew 13:12 (NIV) Emphasis added Whoever has (THE MYSTERY OF THE KINGDOM) will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. The great noise in heaven, at the sound of the seventh angel, will be a great sound of celebration in the expression of praise. Over the years in studying the environment and atmosphere through the various disciplines of science, I heard the voice of God. I saw a principle that unfolded a mystery to me on

Revelation 11:15 (KJV) Emphasis added “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord (OWNER), and of his Christ (ANOINTED KING); and he shall reign for ever and ever.” Heaven and earth will be in unison as praises fill the air, atmospheres, environments and the heavens. The heavens and all creation will declare the glory of the Lord and there will be no room for evil. This will be the greatest sound of praise to the Creator of heaven and earth. God has given us the power of praise and He continuously shows us its principles in His creation. Nature displays the glory, splendor, and majesty of its Creator through the praises it continuously gives out within its surroundings. God has made Himself easy to be found and shines forth the mysteries of His Kingdom, and its principles, in the power of nature. God displays His character in the animals and shows forth His glory in the elements of the environment. He quickly refers to the lion and eagle as tangible expressions of what His character looks like. Then, He explains the powers of His Kingdom in the science of a fungus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which is commonly known as Yeast. As we study the ecology and biology of this unique fungus, the 56

the power of praise and worship. I realize that the sound of worship is the vibrations and gravity that holds the environment of heaven on earth. God has placed the principles of worship all around us in His creation and He wants us to search it out. I saw a very powerful principle of creating tangible blessings through the studies of the Hydrologic Cycle. I want to carefully explain this cycle so that you can understand the real substance of what I found in it. I have included a picture of the Hydrologic Cycle that will give you a visual on what I want to discuss. The Hydrologic Cycle is simply the evaporation of water that is in the form of moisture that comes from the earth. It then goes up into the atmosphere and returns back to the earth as water for plants, animals and humans. There are basically two ways evaporation

takes place. One is through transpiration and the other is through heat from the sun upon a body of water called evaporation. Studies have revealed that about 10% of the moisture found in the atmosphere is released through plants, especially flowering plants through a process called transpiration. Flowering plants are most likely to bear fruits. Fruitful plants help the stability of the atmosphere more than any other plants. The remaining 90% is mainly supplied by evaporation from oceans, seas, and other bodies of water (lakes, rivers, streams). The flowering corn trees of about an acre of corn gives off approximately 3,0004,000 gallons or 11,400-15,100 liters of water each day. A large oak tree can transpire up to approximately 40,000 gallons of water, which is 151,000 liters per year. The evaporation from the sun heats up water in the rivers, lakes, and ocean around us and turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air because it is lighter in weight. As the vapor leaves the environment it climbs as high as it can until it reaches the cold air of the atmosphere. It is at the height of the cold air that these water vapors begin to condense quickly and form precipitation or liquids. Precipitation occurs when just enough water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow. When water fall back to earth as precipitation, it may fall back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on land. When it ends up on land, it will soak deep into the earth and become part of the “ground water” that plants and animals use to drink or it may run over the soil and collect in the oceans, lakes or rivers where the cycle starts all over again. It is extremely important to know that when the vapor leaves the earth, sometimes it leaves from impure and polluted lakes and rivers. But as the vapor climbs higher into the atmosphere it begins to drops off all the impurities and heavy metals that were trapped in its source. The flowering plants, however, releases pure water vapor through transpiration and it reaches the atmosphere ready to be converted into pure precipitation.

As water vapor climbs higher into the atmosphere, it begins to drop off all the impurities and heavy metals that were trapped in its source. The Hydrologic Cycle describes the power, use and manufacturing of pure water. Can pure water be made from contaminated, diluted and polluted water? Of course! It can be made from God’s engineering and processing methods of the Hydrologic Cycle. Water itself is not contaminated until it is contained within the banks of rivers, seas and environments. However, if it can find a way to escape its polluted containers, it will become pure again. It will be pure again if it travels high into the atmosphere and return back to its containers. The more the water travels away from its pollution, the more the source of its pollution becomes diluted and purified. Water is often referred to as the Word of God and nothing can pollute it; not even the sources that try to imprison and pollute it. Water has the unique chemistry that would somehow force and navigate itself from the bondage of pollution. In fact, the more you heat up water, the more pure it becomes as it evaporates. I believe that the Word of God lives in us, despite the pollution of sin that plagues us daily. We must find a way to release this water of God, which is the Word of God that is imprisoned within the polluted banks of our bodies through the evaporation of praise. We will eventually become purified by God’s Hydrologic Cycle of praise and the blessings of God will rain down on us. Praise is the Word of God in song and as it goes through the entire process and engineering of the Hydrologic Cycle it can become a blessing. When we look at the process of water through the entire cycle, we see that the water that leaves the earth as two parts of Hydrogen and one part of Oxygen (H2O) and returns to the earth the same. The formula of water remains the same but the product changes. The water leaves as vapor but returns as water. Water vapor is like a seed that is released into the soil of the atmosphere and rain is produced as the harvest. I have concluded, that praise is made up of the exact same substance that blessings are made of. Therefore, blessings cannot be

made without the materials, substance and formula of praise and worship. If you want blessings, you will have to release the material of praise into the hands of the heavens and wait for the blessings to come down. Vapor H2O (Evaporation) - Ice H2O (Condensation) = Liquid H2O (Precipitation) Praise must become a seed in the hands of a sower to produce rain. Praise in the hands of the atmosphere becomes seeds in the soil of the atmosphere, to produce water to the soil of the giver. A law in Physics states that energy is never destroyed – it just simply changes forms. Your praise is never lost – it simply changes forms. Therefore, your blessings are made up of the same formula as your praises. The more you release your praise into the heavens, the more blessings are made. The less praises you release into the heavens, the fewer blessings are made. Praise is made up of the exact same substance that blessings are made of. Things in life follow this same law of Physics. For example, things move from seeds to fruits, vapor to water, and wealth from one hand to another. Rain is formed high in the atmosphere within the Hydrologic Cycle but is only released to the earth when enough is collected. Your blessings are contingent upon the amount of praises that goes up. It does not cost us anything to praise Him, yet He gives us blessings for whatever sacrifice we make to give Him praise. The kingdoms of this world have the glory of God already on the inside of it. If we learn to dominate the earth, blessings will naturally become ours! The domination and rulership of each kingdom on this planet have been given to us naturally. These kingdoms are slaves to our commands and waiting for us to reposition ourselves so that they may give-off their blessings to us. Everything in nature will naturally go up unless there is some kind of force that keeps it down. The reason why everything on earth does not float away is because it is held down by gravity. The planets, solar systems, galaxies

and universe stays in position because of other forces working together to prevent it from floating away and running into each other. It seems like everything wants to go back to where it came from. I have concluded that upward movement creates downward perfection. Since everything goes up anyways, your praises automatically goes up until it meets its destination. Everything was designed to go up…especially your praises. Upward movements creates downward perfection. The Lord explained the Hydrologic Cycle long before modern science figured it out. Modern science does not create new ideas or discoveries – they only rediscover things that have always been there. The book of Job has many of creation’s functions and explanations of how nature really works. The book of Job is the first actual explanation of how the Hydrologic Cycle works. In the following scripture, I have capitalized the modern words used in today’s science books and laboratory for your understanding. Job 36:27-28 (KJV) Emphasis added “For he maketh small the drops of water (EVAPORATION): they pour down rain according to the vapour (EVAPORATION) thereof: Which the clouds (CONDENSATION) do drop and distil (RAIN) upon man abundantly.”

Ask

Dr. Myles Q A

So if the Kingdom of God has an economy, does it also have a currency?

Absolutely yes! Faith is the culture and currency of the Kingdom of God. When a rich young man asked Jesus what he had to do to find eternal life, Jesus replied, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell all your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me” (Matthew 19:21). Essentially Jesus was saying to the man, “Don’t trust in your riches; trust in Me. Then you will find true wealth.” Earthly riches will not last. Kingdom faith is the real treasure. Why is faith more important than earthly wealth? Wealth is always temporary and can be stolen, lost or can depreciate in value as it has in the recent global economic crisis. But Kingdom faith is “access” to the unlimited store of the commonwealth of Heaven and can never be exhausted. If you lose your money, you are only depleted. If you lose your faith, you are completely defeated. Faith is necessary in the Kingdom of God because without faith the Kingdom principles cannot be activated. The poorest person on earth is the person without faith.

Q

What would you consider a sound investment when all the economic systems of this world seem to be imploding?

Q&A

Q

A

The first thing God gave man stewardship over was the earth. As a matter of fact, God gave Adam land before he gave him a woman. God’s promise to both Abraham and Moses was about land - real estate. During Jesus’ first sermon, He said “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5) The Aramaic word He used here for meek was “controlled power.” He is saying blessed are the self-controlled, disciplined and organized ones, for they shall inherit real estate. You have the money to buy a car, jewelry and clothes but you budget and save in order to purchase land. There is a reason land is called real estate. You must have vision to purchase real estate. The Bible begins and ends with real estate.

In the Kingdom of God what is the difference between a tithe and an offering?

A

Tithing is taxation in the Kingdom and proof of citizenship. You can never give taxes, but are obligated to pay them in a country, for they aren’t yours, you can’t control them. Furthermore, you cannot give (offering) until you have tithed, or paid your taxes. If you never pay your taxes (tithe) then you have never given, and are considered a thief.

Have a question for Dr. Myles? Email us at: Editor@KingdomLifeMag.com

Taxes are for your local community and after this you can invest in any ministry you please. Finally, tithing does not prosper you, it simply positions you. The key to economic freedom is giving!

INVESTING

INVESTING IN THE KINGDOM

INVESTING IN THE KINGDOM By Dr. Rick Kendall

KINGDOM LIFE | Spring 2013

T

he Bible is not a religious book, but is the constitution of a Kingdom government. Since governing must have an economy, the Bible speaks much about stewardship of wealth, or literally what we could call, Kingdom Banking. In the Bible, Jesus Christ Himself speaks of “laying up” (or depositing) treasures in a heavenly account protected by what could be called the FDIC (the Father’s Dominion Insured Commonwealth). This is the vault protected from moth, rust and it is where no thief can break through or steal. When we speak of this “heavenly” Bank, we are not talking in vaporous puffy terms; it is a rock solid economy that even guarantees an earnest down payment now. The Kingdom of God is an eternal city and government functioning within each one of the redeemed who have become fellow-citizens. The Kingdom of God has never had a recession and has never been in debt. It is so solid that material things (seen) on earth actually came out of the Spiritual realm and nature of God. While most tend to think of “banking” in the simple terms of depositing and withdrawing money when needed, there’s much more to what banks have evolved into. Banking began with merchants of the ancient world who made loans to farmers and traders that carried goods between cities. Due to the transgression of Adam in the Garden of Eden, the world got corrupted and a “debt” system emerged bringing the development of usury. Usury is the practice of charging excessive, unreasonably high, and often illegal interest rates on loans. The “bank” in those times was nothing more than a bench or small table where these transactions took place. Lenders were often based in temples making loans but also added two important aspects: accepting deposits and changing money. These became known as the “money changers”. Jesus overturned the tables (banks) and drove the money changers out of the temple declaring; “My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have

made it a den of thieves” (Matthew 21:13). He was not mad at the concept of entrepreneurs and He was not against business people, but these were thieves embellishing the practice of changing money through high interest rates and the selling of inferior sacrificial products. In other words, they were opportunists using the Temple for their own agendas and doing it with a debt system that was opposed to the government of God’s Kingdom. When Jesus spoke of His house it went beyond the physical temple building, but He was speaking of His governmental “household”, management, and Kingdom economy. This economy is a commonwealth and it all belongs to God. We are not owners of the King’s resources, but stewards with access. Mankind, in a fallen condition, set the formation of loans. Over time the debt systems integrated into the fabric of society as accepted norms. People automatically assumed they had to have these “loans” to purchase a house or buy a car because it’s considered the “normal” process. Many of the things called normal are really crooked but have been that way so long people think it’s straight. It’s time for the upright people of another economy to manifest God’s principles that make crooked places straight. There are corrupted men in secret places processing a world system to bring nations into bondage. Our battle is not with flesh and blood. The enemy is the devil who brings greed and lust into these arenas. Technological advances within themselves are not all bad, and in fact, we should be on the cutting edge with innovative answers that cause financial institutions to sit up and take notice. It’s about relevance with no compromise. We know Jesus Christ came to redeem us from the debt of sin, but that redemption includes all resulting forms of spiritual, physical and financial debt. Christ came to seek and save (restore) opened access back into His Kingdom so that cultivation of His dominion could manifest through us.

We are in this world’s economy, but not of it. There is another economy, and it is the Kingdom of God. In order to stand in God’s authority we must break free from dependence on systems that operate from a debt mentality. God has already released miraculous debt cancellation for His citizens in these times. Look for it, expect it. Hidden wisdom is being opened even now that the world systems cannot see, because it is only for the eyes of those who earnestly seek first God’s Kingdom. Innovative avenues of responsible release from debt is already being opened that will actually cause many in the world’s economy to seek you for wisdom and answers. God’s Kingdom banking does not start with money, but begins with the wealth of inner purpose, investments into relationships, and deposits of God ordained ideas. The Kingdom vault within you is FULL and ready for dispensing into the lives of people... and yes... it will bring financial victory as well. The house of God is a great exchange center for transfer of wealth, but will not tolerate usury. Did you know that when you bring an offering into the house of God (His Embassy), it is exchanged from one country’s monetary system and transferred into the economic value of God’s Kingdom government? Every DEPOSIT of trust and dependency we lay up into Kingdom reserves brings an earnest return for distribution in God’s time. It is a time when the reaper is simultaneously walking alongside of the sower. The yoke of debt is being destroyed by reason of the anointing of God’s economics. As we give of ourselves into the King’s depository, He simultaneously invests all He is into us. Get ready for greater wealth transfer than you ever dreamed in coming days. In God’s Kingdom Bank your investments are not only insured but assured by the seal of the King.

Dr. Munroe spoke at a press conference at the beginning of his five-day visit to Ghana to hold business leadership seminars for present and aspiring business leaders in Ghana, and also to meet with top politicians, including President John Evans Ata Mills and other leaders. “These are times when it is okay to be a third world country because the first and second worlds are melting down whiles there is an explosion of new opportunities in the third world countries and Ghana is one of those countries poised to experience economic explosion and assume a leadership role in Africa,” Dr. Munroe said. “The future belongs to the emerging economies and Ghana is one of them and perhaps that is why you have begun to tap into (oil and gas) resources which have been hidden for thousands of years until now – it is no coincidence that Ghana discovered oil at a time when the West is falling – this is because Ghana is destined to be a leader in the emerging world,” he said. Dr. Munroe predicted that the explosion of opportunities which have begun in Ghana would attract thousands of real foreign direct investments into Ghana, adding that he was personally going to champion investments from the Bahamas and from other parts of the world into Ghana.
