Exhibition: France Schmid (painting) Colette Hayoz (sculpture)

Mixed techniques and sculptures. « Marcher pour rencontrer la joie ! » (Walk to find joy!). France Schmid’s artistic career perfectly illustrates this lively quote from Jean Giono in “Que ma joie demeure”. Through her sense of harmony and her taste for colours, she spreads on her canvas landscapes, lakes or mountains, that depict at the same time softness, strength and power, touching the spectator’s heart and making him feel fear and wonder in turn. Almost abstract, the artist aims to show the essential: emotion. Her painting, never bland, often grave, opens the door to dreams, leaving enough space for fate, surprise, and doubt.
