The Eight Guiding Principles That Define The Regis Jesuit Girls Swim & Dive Program
Trust Respect Discipline Loyalty Friendship Communication Honesty
Courage
Confidence and self-assurance are two positive outgrowths of trust.
Hold in high esteem your teammates, the training process, and your personal values.
Focus on the task at hand, not the outcome. Success in any endeavor is the result of a long and worthwhile process.
Be loyal to your inner drive with an allegiance and unwavering devotion to your teammates and coaches; develop a sense of purpose with focused attention on the present ... and above all else ... 'BE TRUE TO YOURSELF.'
It is not uncommon for your teammates to become your best friends; their constant support provides you with a higher level of communication, commitment and trust. Share your thoughts, aspirations and goals. Be honest in all of your relationships as you acquire the ability to 'SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY.' Individuals who demonstrate conviction with inner strength always gain confidence of their teammates. An honest commitment to the team demonstrates how much you care and will clearly define your inner self. Successful athletes exude confidence. Their 'psychological hardness' is never gained through half-hearted efforts or self-deprecating thoughts. Courageous athletes take charge of their lives and become responsible for their actions...and when their motivations come from the heart, their athletic performances go beyond the ordinary!
