With a length of 3-meters, one of the most exquisite original Flores boat carvings narrates the tale of the Waerebo ancestors who travelled from beyond the continent and made stops in Minangkabau, Toraja, and Minahasa. Because they have common roots, the carving’s outlines represent those areas as a single, coherent entity. The ancestors finally chose to settle in the East Manggarai area because it was the only safest place to survive at the time. The shape of a boat with the head of the Lawe Lujang bird, which is almost like a mythical bird, is believed to bring good luck.

Eastern Indonesia is known for its magnificent woven fabrics. The colours, designs, and techniques are where the biggest distinctions may be found. The curated woven piece is not only selected from the best materials, but also from natural ones. Not only carvings and textiles, TAKALA also gathers artists who focus on ethnic arts. This chosen art maestros have been in his field for more than 20 years but has chosen the unpopular path so that cultural messages can reach directly to individuals in need.
