Victoria Anthony

Victoria Anthony became an internet sensation in 2018 after singing her heart out to her idol, superstar recording artist PINK, in front over 18,000 spectators at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. It changed her life forever." I started a social media campaign with a video of me singing her song, What About Us The video included my performance at my school talent show which was the first time I had performed in front of my friends." The video gained some traction and P!nk saw it, and in the middle of her show that she had in Canada, she asked Anthony to sing." I sang her song, Perfect, to her.

Anthony says while singing, she was extremely nervous of course but the way P!nk looked at her, she became relaxed and killed it." She gave me this look like "You can do this, I believe in you," and that relaxed me to just do my best and enjoy every second of it. She inspired me to start songwriting when she whispered to me, "You're amazing. Never stop." She recently released a single called "Because I'm a Girl"

The single has already garnered over 180,000 streams on Spotify and 350,000 views of the lyric video on YouTube." We started writing, and I knew I wanted it to be bold and fierce with the music because this cause needs to be out there front and center. Also, I wanted the lyrics to be really upfront so that the song would tell it like it is. I loved it! I think as a young girl in this world, I have a unique perspective, especially with this subject, and I love sharing my take on the world through my

music." The music video for "Because I'm a Girl" was directed by actress Nathalie Boltt and based on an original concept devised by Anthony herself. Boltt is best known for her role as Penelope on the CW hit television show "Riverdale." I wanted to use a lot of symbolism in the music video. The whole concept of being in a factory represents women in society. We are repeating motions and being controlled by systems put in place to bring us down. We escape the factory which symbolizes us breaking and dismantling these systems. I wear a crown to represent control of my decisions and life. Our clothes go from dark to light throughout the video, and the transition is the dancers ripping off my dark clothes, negativity, to show light which represents being in a better place and us supporting each other.

E: How did you get the incredible Nathalie Boltt to direct your video? VA:" I was talking to the executive producer, Keyon Slowly from Leftside productions, and I told him I wanted a female director to be able to properly tell this story and to use the creation of the project to empower women. He put out a call for a female director and Nat responded saying that she loved the song and the concept for the video." E: What was your favorite moment on set? VA: ?My favourite moment on set was doing my stunts. I got to fall on a mat a lot and it was exhilarating! I loved every moment on set, though. That one was just especially fun! ?

E: Why is girl empowerment so important to you? VA:" My favorite moment on set was doing my stunts. I got to fall on a mat a lot, and it was exhilarating! I loved every moment on set, though. That one was just especially fun!" E: Why is girl empowerment so important to you? VA:" Female empowerment is so important to me because I live in a house where women and men are equal and I know that it's possible to do, so I see no need for women to have fewer opportunities or respect than men." E:" Have you ever had a moment so far in your career where you didn't feel so empowered? If so, how did you get through it? VA:" No matter who you are, you'll always face hard times. Having a great support system to believe I n me when sometimes I don't has been essential to me. Make sure that you are happy with yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will. It's easier said than done but maybe start with telling yourself every day, "Good job!" and stuff like that. Don't hate on yourself, because it won't help." Her debut EP will come out next year but until then keep streaming' Because I'm A Girl' and watch the official video on YouTube.
