JANICE DAVIS MINISTRIES PROGRAMS A Guiding Hand in Your Journey At Janice Davis Ministries, Inc., our goal is to help guide people through their journey of spiritual growth. We do that by offering a comforting environment, a shoulder to lean on, and someone to listen in a supportive community and through events. We began our ministry in 1996 in Olympia, WA; since then, we have grown to reach thousands of people through this ministry. Our most recent accomplishment has been recognized as a 501C(3) non-profit organization in the State of Washington. Our leader, Janice M. Davis, is always available for counsel and advice. She has been advising people of all walks of life regardless of economic background or ethnicity on how to overcome their struggles and hardships-and see the light at the end of their tunnel. Women of Wealth Program The purpose of this program is to motivate and inspire women to grow spiritually, emotionally and physically. Janice Davis Ministries, Inc. works in the community with partners to motivate and inspire women through: Small groups - With small group settings we create a setting that is comforting which allows women to share and open up about issues that are affecting their lives. In doing so we share a wealth of information to enrich their lives and start a process of spiritual and natural healing of the body, spirit and mind. Events and awards - We hold several community events; some are faith based and some are community based, all centered around celebrating women of all walks of life and speaking life into their circumstances. We hold our annual conference which brings together all of our groups together in one setting where we celebrate our lives and share our victories over illness, financial despair and family problems. We award and celebrate those who have been outstanding volunteers and have given their time to help others, selflessly in our community. Biblical Teaching - The core of our programs is Biblical teaching where we share the principles of being a woman of wealth. A woman of wealth does not have to do so much with financial gain but it is the core of who you are and has to do more with the wealth of knowledge and power that one has through Christ and overcoming barriers of hardship, illness, education and poverty. Women of Wealth receive the core teachings of the women in the bible that overcame as they will through insurmountable circumstances through support and faith. Outreach - Many of the women in our program have overcome great obstacles and are now inspired, motivated and empowered to go out and strengthen others through sharing of the gospel, sharing their strength to encourage others in their lives, families and businesses. Outreach means going into our neighborhoods and letting people know about our events through media such as radio, flyers, sponsorship by corporations, books, music, t-shirts with our logo and word of mouth. We want to continue to be “Just what you need when all seems lost and you need a helping hand and word of encouragement to get you through the storm of life.

JANICE DAVIS MINISTRIES PROGRAMS Empowerment Program The purpose of this program is to empower women with hope through education and resources. In the greater Seattle area we have the opportunity to partner with many resources for our women such as the Seattle Foundation, which has an agenda that supports our mission: “A Healthy Community which supports a complex fabric of issues including arts and culture, basic needs, economy, education, environment, health and wellness, and neighborhoods and communities.” Our agenda supports women’s spirituality, health, safety and financial well-being by providing a platform in which our partners can help us educate women in the area as to the resources available to meet needs and create success. Our sponsors, such as our local banks, have become increasingly aware that we are making a difference in the economic worth of a woman’s time and ability by helping to focus on what matters the most in her life, family and business. Guidance Program The purpose of this program is to guide people through their journey of spiritual growth. We do that by offering a comforting, faith based environment, a shoulder to lean on and someone to listen when things get tough in life. Many people often give up because they are isolated. We are here to let people know that they are not alone and that God is with them. We also introduce them to a community of believers, in Christ, that can pray and encourage with testimonials and support. In turn these “over-comers” help others who have gone through similar circumstances. Our programs are open to the public regardless of religion, ethnicity and beliefs. Women share the same problems across cultural and religious beliefs that involve family, finances and relationships and we believe we can learn solutions from all walks of life to help each other.

RUBY BEELER AWARD OF EXCELLENCE Bishop Ruby Lee Boddie Robertson Beeler The Ruby Beeler Award of Excellence is given each year to outstanding members of our community who provide exemplary service to motivate and inspire women to grow spiritually, emotionally and physically. This award is given in honor of the late Bishop Beeler who in her own right was a trailblazer in spiritual ministry. Born May 18, 1914 in LaGrange, GA and later moved to Louisville, KY where she completed her formal education, she married Charles Thomas Beeler and to this union she bore 12 children: Addie Belle, Charlotte, Charles, John Thomas, Grace, Evelyn, Ester, Sherman, Louis, Ruby, Samuel, and Sarah. It should be noted that several of her children followed her into the ministry where Sherman has been elevated to Bishop and Charlotte to Suffragan Bishop. Bishop Ruby Beeler labored for souls in the Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith and was elevated to Bishop during a period where it was uncommon for women to be elevated to such a position. Through her ministry she brought thousands of souls to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Her ministry had several transitional periods of growth from a tent to residential home, to a fire station and finally to a permanent church home. Bishop Beeler purchased an existing church building on 5 acres of land in Holly, MI where she established the first apostolic church in that community, Holly Apostolic Church; the church building still stands today and is registered as an historical landmark, also, the ministry is still active with her son, Bishop Sherman Beeler pastoring the congregation. Bishop Beeler loved her family and together with the support of her husband she built a legacy for spiritual development that is still unique in the modern church. Bishop Beeler’s legacy is a foundation upon which Janice Davis Ministries, Inc. was inspired and continues to utilize as a standard of excellence.

RUBY BEELER AWARD OF EXCELLENCE RECIPIENT Ms. Keisha D. Scarlett, Principal Leadership Coach, Seattle Public Schools South Shore PK-8 School Principal, Keisha Scarlett was named 2014 Washington State Middle Level Principal of the Year by a panel of principals representing the Association of Washington Middle Level Principals, a component of the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP). She was one of nine nominees from across the state. Scarlett has been appointed Principal Leadership Coach beginning the 2014-15 academic year. Scarlett was principal at South Shore PK-8 School from 2010 2014, where more than 89 percent of the students are of color and more than two-thirds of the students are eligible for free or reduced lunch programs. The school was founded in 2002 in partnership with Seattle Schools, the New School Foundation and the City of Seattle. The school is known for its innovative whole-child PK-3 program, an approach that aims to give students a firm foundation in academic, cognitive, social and emotional skills and habits. Scarlett was hired at South Shore in 2010 as the fourth principal in eight years. The school had been struggling with a large number of family departures after grade 3, and an influx of new students from a nearby closing school. It was also dealing with a high teacher attrition number. Under Scarlett’s leadership, South Shore’s math program was accelerated. A survey was sent out to parents and the community for feedback on the school’s program and curriculum. The school’s master schedule was changed to support a more personalized environment, including a daily 20minute advisory period for socio-emotional literacy skills and an hour-long Flex-Friday period for small group projects and social skills. And, Scarlett worked to bring in the best teachers possible with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. Says Scarlett, “Over the past four years, I have worked to attract and retain high quality teachers. With only 240 students and each core teacher instructing an entire grade level, it is imperative to create a ‘culture of excellence.’” Today, South Shore is the fourth highest performing K-8 school in the district. Continuous enrollment has increased such that there is now a waiting list at each grade level, with many families attempting to move their students to South Shore even during their eighth grade year. Scarlett has worked as an educator in Seattle Public Schools since 1999. She taught STEM at Asa Mercer Middle School until 2005, when she moved to the central office to become a STAR Consulting Teacher. In 2007, she became a math coach at Denny Middle School, and in 2008 she took an assistant principal position at McClure Middle School, where she worked until taking a principal position at South Shore PK-8 School in 2010. Scarlett will be honored this fall in Washington D.C. as part of the National Distinguished Principal of the Year program.
