FIRST DATE IS ONLINE. A RECENT STUDY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA REVEALED THAT MORE THAN 12% OF THE AMERICAN MARRIED COUPLES MET ONLINE. This is a growing trend as the internet becomes an increasingly more popular context for social interactions. Internet can therefore be considered as a special (non) location where people meet and feelings are shared. This phenomena is due also to very practical reasons: meeting on the internet is easier and cheaper. Can we imagine internet being the context in which the ritual of marriage takes place?

OBJECTS WITH A CONSEQUENCE. INTERACTION WITH OBJECTS CAN HAVE IMPLICATIONS THAT GO BEYOND THEIR SIMPLE USAGE. For instance, ripping a label can legally have the same significance as signing a contract, making a lawyer an integral part of the design process.

Can we imagine a wedding ring that embeds the legal repercussions of a marriage?
MERGING INTERNET WITH OBJECTS. AN OBJECT THAT EMBEDS THE SERVICE AND ALLOWS MARRIAGE TO LEGALLY HAPPEN ON REMOTE THROUGH THE INTERNET.
Inspired by the legal aspects of the softwares’ licenses we thought of a wedding ring that, in combination with an internet service, skips all the bureaucratic procedures of a conventional marriage. The bride and groom can order wedding rings on-line and get married by slipping their fingers through the sealed rings and finally register on-line to formalize their marriage.
