What is D.I.D.
The magazine IS the innovation. Given the current state of health of magazine design and print industry in general, speak of a new journal that deals with the design theme might seem decidedly a move out of place. Instead, this situation allows us to redesign all the mechanisms and criteria that control the design, development and distribution of the magazine. So when something does not work means that it can better redesign Indeed D.I.D. is not a magazine like that existed so far, you won’t find it at the magazine store. Also the content will be radically different from those treated by traditional design magazines. Each issue of D.I.D. features one designer (or group of designers), DID is a collection of monographs issued individually. Every six numbers D.I.D. plans to publish a collection of material contained in previous releases. D.I.D. intends to concentrate on new material: new designers, new projects, unpublished anecdotes. Not only because this is what interests us, but especially because this is the only possible content in a magazine generated by a new system.

Who makes it?
I heard that those guys from Id-Lab...
D.I.D., as a system and as a magazine, was born from an idea by Stefano Mirti and Giovanni Innella, both partners of Id-Lab. Id-Lab provides technical support and advice with regard to relations with sponsors and people to interview. Comments and suggestions by the Id-Lab are appreciated and taken into account by D.I.D. More simply Id-Lab is the structure within which DID was born and lives, while maintaining a clear decisionmaking independence.

Designer + advertiser
The advertisement that generates content The system of D.I.D. was thought to function independently from the sales. To do this the contribution of advertisers is fundamental. To the selected designer on each issue, D.I.D. asks to bring with him a sponsor, a company. institution or corporation of any kind that is available to fund it for 1000 €. In exchange to this money, D.I.D. reserves to the advertiser a double page on the issue featuring the supported designer and half a page on any other issue. Why do we ask the designers to find their own advertisers? D.I.D. wants to support only those designers who, having seized the opportunity offered them, are able to relate to others, to convey the importance and benefits of participation in an activity of this kind and that can create a relationship based on collaboration. These are very important aspects of the project.

The platform of ilmiolibro.it is an essential element upon which most of the D.I.D. system lays. The mechanism of ilmiolibro.it is very simple: you choose among several options of size and features of the book, you upload the content, everything is prepared, printed and sent home. But there is more, in fact you can include your book in the online shop of ilmiolibro.it. Anyone can access to the site and buy the books in the desired quantity. The price of books is determined by the cost of printing and shipping, to which the author of the book can add an extra cost for personal compensation.
