SITE ANALYSIS

OLD NAGA

in the past Naga City depend and value a lot their agriculture, water ways and bayanihan culture in providing their basic needs.

PRESENT NAGA

Nowadays, Modernized Naga City shift its way of living, to depend on commercial jobs and artificial water system. A lot of residential area prone to natural disaster since there are a lot of informal housing around the city

CONSEQUENCES

As a city that is prone to typhoon, Naga City has working on improving their agriculture productivity, flood in the city and housing structure so the city will be resilience towards natural disaster and future needs..

As City and Natural environment diffused, community behavior in the city effects natural environment which they utilized the resources. This creates a loop between natural and the city. The worse the behavior then the worse natural environment which cause disaster. Architecture can interfere this loop, by shaping a good behaviour in a built environment.

RESILIENCE CONCEPT

Natural system are interconnected and lumpy. Lumping connects systems to each other in ways that allow to respond to change, and recover more quickly from disturbance. Our towns and cities, for instance, are lumps of density and diversity. Once human settlements were close to clusters of natural systems that offered food, water, energy, and materials, the situation today is diffused. Diffusion and the disconnection it creates, impair our ability to see and correct behaviour, espessially if the impact of our actions is felt far away, and affects stakeholders that we do not know.

The housing cell, each has community farm where community can familiarize themselves with agriculture from the smallest action while socializing. Modular and incremental supported with well-thought Power and water system make the housing cell more resilience from disasters.

25

AGRI-ECONOMY SYSTEM NETWORK ON SITE

Site has interconnected agri-economy system network, which allow the site to be more resilience to provide their own needs and bring good impact to the area around the site.

26

Waste, Energy and water system designed to make cycles and mutual relations between natural environment and neighborhood, in a larger scale.

Mixed Farm is the strategy to increase Naga’s agricultural productivity. Total area of mixed farm required for a housing cell approximately 1.8 Ha.

Shellter

Temporary structure serve as a multi-event supporting facility in a park. Using tectonical design approach, Shellter utilize elastic and tensile strenght of a hollow steel and membrane as the main structure. Curvilinear form and choice of material made this pavilion blend well with the park enhancing interaction between the user inside and outside the pavilion. The pavilion is a visitor ‘shelter’ in a ‘shell’ shape.
