“Macquarie Park offers a more affordable option for homebuyers than neighbouring suburbs and now is a good time to consider buying, with developers seeking local buyers due to a lack of interest from overseas buyers as a result of the recent pandemic.” – Cooper Wang, RE/MAX MyHome

Less than 15km from Sydney’s CBD and bordering the beautiful Lane Cove River and surrounding national park is the modern and vibrant Macquarie Park. The suburb has undertaken a huge makeover in recent years, which has resulted in considerable growth as it has become a popular place to live, work and play.

Contemporary design has been expertly incorporated in the suburb’s usability, making it an attractive area not only for younger residents, but also families and downsizers. With everything in such close proximity – shopping, parks, schools, restaurants and cafes, entertainment and more - residents enjoy the convenience of all the suburb has to offer.

Three days in Macquarie Park

Cooper says, for those who have never visited Macquarie Park, they’ll enjoy exploring the trendy up and coming suburb; and for those returning, they’ll be surprised at how much it’s changed. “Changed in a good way,” he says. For a long weekend in Macquarie Park, and to make the most of your time, Cooper has a few tips on where to go and what to see ...

Day 1: Macquarie Centre is the destination for shopping in Northern Sydney. With more than 300 stores including large name retailers as well as quirky and unique independent stores, and all the regular services you want and need, Cooper says Macquarie Centre is well worth a visit for some retail therapy. Cooper’s tip: Make sure you take a map with you, so you don’t get lost!

Day 2: Get back to nature without venturing outside the postcode. Lane Cove National Park is a great place to explore tranquil bushland, with easy walking trails meandering along the riverfront, which downstream flows into the harbour.

Day 3: After two days on your feet, relax and feel inspired in the beautiful grounds of Macquarie University, set in 126-hecates of landscaped gardens and parkland. It is well worth a visit. Enjoy a picnic overlooking Macquarie Lake or take a dip in the campus swimming pool.
