Property owners enjoy strong legal protections similar to property rights in North America and most European countries, no matter their primary residency. The sales process is very similar to buying real estate in the U.S., Canada or Europe. Both buyers and sellers can engage an agent to represent them, and carry out negotiations on their behalf. Mortgages are available from local banks, though there are regulations specific to the island that we can detail for you. The legal end of the process is overseen by a governmental authority known as a Notaris, who functions as the title insurance company, supervises the deed transfer and handles the escrow funds. Helping protect Bonaire’s sea turtles is an investment in our island that comes naturally to RE/MAX Paradise Homes - Bonaire. We were one of the first sponsors of Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire, helping launch a fledgling tracking project in 2004. This spring, we adopted 2017 Nest #3 on Klein Bonaire, which is expected to hatch in June. Bonaire is home to three of the world's six endangered sea turtle species: green, loggerhead and hawksbill. By supporting STCB's Adopt-a-Nest program annually, we do our part to help ensure a successful future for the next generation of one of the island's most beloved and at-risk wildlife populations.
