ALONG THE ANCIENT VIA FLAMINIA (Phase 1)
Urban redesigning of 3 train station areas in Umbria, Architecture Award FBM
Through a reading by fragments, the urban design of the towns of Massa Martana, Acquasparta and San Gemini, despite the continuity of the medieval structure, consists of a sequence of “urban special situations “; some of which derive from the medieval typology of the three historic villages, such as the inhabited wall or more generally the irregular square, the alley; others, more precise elements characterize each of the three countries, such as the contained gardens of Acquasparta (the dense gardens compressed within the walls of the historic buildings, today residues of that “third landscape” described from G: Clement) or some fragments of walls that in San Gemini become singular accesses to the housing or lift systems. Reading, describing and re-elaborating these systems is our way of creating continuity with the delicate historical presences, inserting them into our project as recognizable images, recurrent, evocative. Thinking of designing living environments within a territory with a strong landscape character and small population density, generates the question on how to create the space in the space. How to manage volumes and open spaces.

ALONG THE ANCIENT VIA FLAMINIA (Phase 2) Restoration of an old SPA building with extention, Architecture Award FBM
The project is mainly structured in two distinct volumes with very different characteristics from each other, standing out according to the generating principles that created them and according to the functions they host: the first is the spa, the second is the thermal pool. The design of the thermal building is generated by the relationship between man and water, an ancient and intimate contact. It was inspired by the ritual of bathing and its symbols, the values of purification, regeneration, rebirth related to diving in water. A universal ritual in all cultures and in every geographical area. The founding gesture of the project is the “path: the path and of immersion and emersion from water, opening and closing towards the immense landscape, in the light and in the dark, inside the intense vapors, interior and intimate. It is the path in its architectural development that generates forms, spaces, volumes, relations. The complexity of the project was achieved through the use of simple construction systems, the re-use of waste materials, simplification of the system of installations, passive systems for economic management and the use of not expensive materials.

VILLA TROILI
Project of a kindergarten with multi-disciplines laboratories and activities in a urban park
The project for the new kindergarten immerse in Villa Troili Park, accordingly to all the requests by the client, ensures a spatial identity through the composition of simple volumes under the light, through the smart use of colors to determine functions and uses and a conscious use sustainable and environment-friendly materials. The kindergarten is designed to host 60 children and the equipment for the public park and children’s play, located in the territorial area in the west quadrant of Rome, between Via della Vignaccia and Via degli Aldobrandeschi, inside the XVI Town Hall near Via Aurelia. Public spaces will have to be able to relate to the pre-existing environment consisting of the wooded area present within the intervention area which extends for about 12,250 square meters, playing a role of aggregation within the neighborhood. Since these spaces constitute the threshold to the wooded area, they will have to weave with this particular relationship and offer privileged views.

The client is a prestigious notary who loves entertaining with guests and having conversations and hosting dinners with his wife. They do not have children, since they were always very concentrated on their professional life, but from time to time they are very pleased to have as a guest, their beloved niece. The notary wife really appreciates fashion and owns a very wide collection of designer clothes. The notary instead is an art admirer, especially of American realism, of which a very famous exponent is just Edward Hopper. The notary and his wife forms a very united couple, they support each other in decisions and they lean on each other when decisions need to be made. Their taste is very subtle, elegant, refined, mainly simple and modern lines, with a hint of classic. Their request regarding the kitchen was to be spacious and very contenitive, and with the preference to have everything to handy, in order to be ready for every entertaining event they love to host. The focus of the project is a massive living conversation that blends in with the family and dining area, perfect for dinners and events.
