201 2 Race Schedule June 2012 Lake George, NY
THE 6TH ANNUAL NORTH COUNTRY TRIATHLON SATURDAY JUNE, 30TH HAGUE BEACH, LAKE GEORGE NY
Dear Racers-
FRIDAY, JUNE 29 Welcome to the 6th annual North Country Triathlon! We are excited to once again host you in the town of Hague on the gorgeous shores of Lake George. It is hard to believe I have been putting this race on for 6 years! It seems like just yesterday that I pitched the Hague Town Board one cold November evening on the idea of creating a triathlon in their town. I had never put on an event, much less a triathlon (though I had participated in many triathlons myself) and I wasn’t even sure I could actually pull it off. To their credit and my general surprise, they were not only extremely interested in it, they were actually very excited at the prospect and totally supportive. The town became our first sponsor. What began with 125 racers, 50 volunteers and a handful of sponsors at our inaugural race in 2007 has now turned into a 425 racer, 120 volunteer strong event that keeps people coming back to Hague each year to experience our race and all the area has to offer. Many of our volunteers and racers comment on how much they enjoy our race because its very tight-knit, small scale and has a real sense of community to it. We created a challenging race in an amazing setting and helped create many wonderful memories for everyone that have been a part of the race. During the past 6 years, I have taken the race from an idea to a reality. It has been a delightful challenge, and an amazing thing to have been a part of. I have had the pleasure of working with an absolutely amazing group of friends and volunteers. The last two years have brought with them an abundance of change for me. I have happily become a husband to my lovely wife Leslie and father to my amazing 10 month old son Felix as well as helped start a successful internet company in New York City. With little extra time these days, its time for me to pass the race on to someone who can help continue to foster its growth. It is with mixed emotion that I say that the race may or may not be around next year as I am actively seeking a buyer for the North Country Triathlon. If anyone interested, please contact us. It has been a wonderful, extremely fulfilling journey and I want to thank each and every one of our racers, volunteers, and sponsors for your years of support, enthusiasm, and dedication to our race. Best, Randy Engler Founder, North Country Triathlon
