In 1805, the very year Lord Nelson sailed to glorious victory at the battle of Trafalgar, another momentous occasion unfolded in the quiet Scottish countryside of Ayrshire: the birth of John Walker, the founder of the world’s finest whisky dynasty. “Perfection is the child of time.”
Joseph Hall
As a personal tribute to the life of John Walker, 200 bottles of an exclusive Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 edition have been created by Johnnie Walker® Master Blender Jim Beveridge, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of John Walker’s birth.

Aptly named ‘1805’, this supremely rare blend has been made using the finest whiskies available, all of which have been aged to perfection. Many of the distilleries involved in creating this highly prized whisky no longer exist making Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 all the more precious. “The opportunity to convey the life of John Walker through a celebration blend of the world’s most precious whisky stocks is any blender’s dream.” Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker® Master Blender.

To the most privileged palate, Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 whispers of long forgotten autumns with opulent fruits and creamy vanilla laced with hints of moss and fallen leaves. A light smoke gently threads its way through the fruits, leaving a smooth, mature texture that lingers long after the last drop has been swallowed. Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 edition is a precious example of whisky perfection.

This ultra limited edition whisky is housed in a hand made Victorian style writing case complete with antique nib pen, reminiscent of the era in which John Walker blended his whiskies. In addition, 200 replicas of the original handwritten recipe book of Alexander Walker, John Walker’s grandson, have been included in this highly valued set. A gold bust of John Walker adorns the bottle with an etching that reads, “The inventory of the stocks and effects of John Walker, November 1819.” This writing, signed and dated by John Walker, replicates the oldest surviving document held in the Johnnie Walker® archives. No. 142 of 200, shown overleaf, is one of the last remaining Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 bottles still available to The House of Walker South Africa.
