Many couples preparing for their trip down the aisle follow the familiar sentiments expressed by Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz.” Such couples feel “there’s no place like home” when hosting a wedding ceremony or reception. There are many benefits to hosting a wedding at home. Homes often hold couples’ most cherished memories, and hosting a backyard celebration or an intimate indoor ceremony at your own home or the abode of a loved one can be a cost-effective way to have a good time. Here are some tips to help couples navigate hosting an at-home wedding. Assess the space The average home is not equipped to handle hundreds of guests, wait staff, caterers, and parked cars. Concessions in regard to comfort and safety will have to be made when drawing up the guest list. The wedding resource The Knot advises the general rule is six- to 10 square-feet of floor space per

Get the most out of bridal shows and wedding events Recently engaged couples may be excited to get a jump on wedding planning. Bridal shows can be a great way for couples to meet and familiarize themselves with local wedding professionals, all the while introducing themselves to the terminology of wedding planning. Though they’re a great source of information, contacts and samples, bridal shows also can be a bit overwhelming. Learning how to maximize time spent at shows can help couples plan their weddings as efficiently as possible. • Start small. If the idea of large crowds is unappealing, attend the more intimate, boutique shows that are often held at local reception halls and restaurants instead of the larger installations at convention centers and hotels. • Scout out vendors. Check the bridal show’s website for lists of exhibitors and see if your desired vendors are on the list. But even if they’re not, keep an open mind and use the show as a chance to compare offerings. Fairfield Inn to open Fair Oaks Farms — Bridal suite fit for a queen (and king) By Cheri Shelhart kvpreporter@gmail.com An exciting new bridal venue opens this month at Fair Oaks Farms in Newton County, Ind. The unique Fairfield Inn by Marriott is a blend of Marriott standards and Fair Oaks Farms unique country style. The inn itself is built to look like a barn, including two silos, that expand the rooms into suites that can accommodate families, business meetings, entertainment and brides. The inn has an enclosed walkway from the hotel to the Farmhouse Restaurant, that features farm to table dining and has ballrooms for receptions and showers. The bridal suite at the Fairfield Inn sits in a portion of the silo. The unique room has a king size bed in what looks like a standard

hotel room, but opens up into a round room with a beautiful sparkling chandelier, three chairs in front of lighted mirrors and relaxing furniture for the bride and her bridal party to prepare for the big day. The chandelier is so heavy, the ceiling had to be reinforced to hold it up. It adds a great back-

But weddings are a showcase of the two people getting married … and grooms matter! Grooms can take steps to look handsome and polished, but may wonder what they can do to put their best feet forward when all eyes and cameras are facing their way. Addressing skin care and proper shaving techniques is essential. Start with a fresh, new and sharp blade so it is effective. Some men prefer a single blade for a close shave, while others like razors with multiple blades. Grooms should use what has worked for them in the past, as now is not the time to experiment. The Bridal House is the perfect place to get ready for your wedding. It is unlike anything you have ever experienced before. The Bridesmaids area is very beautiful and spacious. We have a†mini salon station that can accommodate up to 4 girls to get their hair done and we have 4 makeup tables that seat 8. The Bridesmaids also have their own bathroom. We have hooks along the wall to hang all of the dresses. The Bride’s Suite is an open 2 story area with windows on every side to let in the natural light. The Bride also has her own makeup table and private bathroom. The full length mirror is perfect for the last minute touch ups before you walk down the aisle The Groom’s Suite has a changing area with hooks on the wall to hang up clothes. There is a full size bathroom with a walk in shower. The lounge area has a leather couch and chairs with a flat screen TV for relaxing and hanging out before the wedding. The grounds of the house are landscaped and†perfect for your wedding day photos. The house is located on the 9th hole and the view is amazing. The party room upstairs and the main floor can accommodate up to 50 guests. We can host bridal and baby showers, rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties and meetings. It is the perfect place to host a party.
