USER STUDY2- INTERVIEW 2

Observation &Interview of new parents Do you saving some moments for your child? How do you save it? By which device? Why? Have you met any difficulties of doing it?

Yes, I use my phone a lot. I have searched family application for that but I can’t find one. I don’t use camera because they are too complex. And I like to use the cloud-based app in my phone, such as Dropbox and Google+. I think it is really good to share something to target people. I don’t share everything of my kid on facebook, but I save it on the cloud.

I feel it is safer to use the cloud.

I hope I would write something for my child on the picture, but not only on the phone. I want to keep a dairy for him. I want the pictures I captured, could be organized-able.

PHASE 1 CONCLUSION

USER NEEDS, DESIGN TRENDS: 1. To be able to describe the moments through a combination way of text, picture, video. 2. To be able to save, edit and review in same outline through different device, such as PC. I define outline as: example, the display of the ‘moments’, in forms of text combined with picture in the mobile device, should be as same as it was in the computer. 3.

To be able to remember their experience of the family stories. Parents “remember” an experience best by tracking back to the previous photos with different themes combined with timeline, such as Education themes, Health themes, travel themes, Festival themes.

4.

To be able to connect with the family in a long distance.

5.

Private, memorable, accessible, securer and for family use.

CONCEPT JUSTIFICATION

Phase 1 ďƒ saw a need from the new parents and other target users I would like to share my moments with my family.

I hope I would write something for my child on the picture, but not only on the phone. I want to keep a dairy for him. I want the pictures I captured, could be organized-able. I hope information could be secure. I hope to store the growth of my family. I hope it could be more convenient and private. I hope I could no worry about losing data.

Photo management system specifically for use within one family. -Family history - service application for different devices – camera, Smartphone, notebook - family management.

Share moments with family I like it personally. It is private and full sized. I can get it through different PCs anywhere anytime. Save it in an order Take picture and tag it

The features these programs do NOT yet address 1. No application was designed particularly to re-live family experience. All applications are mixed with different audiences with different contexts. Their target users are not family. Also, no mobile application has organized pictures in a particular family-trail .Shutterfly has categorized photos into family sorts; however, it is just a web-based application for printing. 2. No application integrated pictures from all camera devices. All applications are mobile phone based. Most of the applications that combined with camera are mainly for editing photos. No one has integrated camera with cloud based application, although Eye-Fi has put wi-fi into the camera memory card to make devices connected with each other.

GOAL

TO SAVE THE 1).One journey of growth 2).One growth of a family 3).One family- based photo sharing platform.

THE APPLICATION DOES

1) Create one family account for family members using different devices to capture and share photos into one family platform. 2) Create Family themes help manage the life journey of family story. 3) Review the history of each moment of every family members through this application.

The core goal of the application will be to help parents build a history of their family and re-live their family experience – depending on needs, context, tastes, etc. I define “history of the family” ‘family experience’ as: it is a living graph of a family, place a list of events by pictures, text and other audios by a vertical timeline to reflect the change and growth of a family.

Phase 2: Concept development •Information Architecture -Task Analysis -Workflow -Storyboard

WORKFLOW BRIEF

Set Samsung family account

Any Samsung devices

Capture Any Samsung devices with camera

Upload cloud (mobile device) Sync to the cloud Upload by different Samsung devices with one Samsung family account

Categorized Collect photos from different devices of one family event

Edit

share

Write dairy OR sentences for that family moment

cloud

Categorize photo into timeline and Diferent Family themes

One family account Each family has one same family account, which seems as the key to the house. Each family member sets the account on their devices. When family members take pictures, they can choose to capture and upload photos on to the family cloud based application by the related APP on their phone or a pre-set button on the camera. Photos that sent by the same family account, will categorize into one family cloud based application. Family themes Photos will categorize into different family themes. To use different themes to identify the different group family moments/story. E.g.1)Christmas and every Lunar New Year in festival theme

Share them with different families Save it on the cloud
