Mae’s Bakery, 2770 Lenox Road in Buckhead, has a new sandwich and soup menu for lunch. Last month, the bakery brought on a team of the top cake artists in the city led by Mary Hosch and Marian Rescigno, previously of Highland Bakery. For more visit maesbakeryATL.com.
Chef Kevin Gillespie has announced he will open Revival featuring “a fresh take on the traditional, family-style Sunday dinner.” The restaurant, scheduled to open in June, will be located on the site of the former Harbour House Pub on Church Street in Decatur.
From the creators of The Spotted Trotter, e Cockentrice is now open at Krog Street Market in Inman Park. Envision a ‘Charcuterie Saloon’ that will serve just about everything you can do with a piece of meat and more. The Cockentrice will feature a unique cocktail menu, beers and ales, and a wine list that pairs perfectly with their menu options. Seating between 100 to 130 people, this full service restaurant features an outdoor patio facing Krog Street and is connected to The Spotted Trotter’s second butcher and cheese shop.
North Carolina-based burger joint Cook-Out has quietly opened in the former Zesto space at 528 Ponce de Leon Avenue. Serving up hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings and shakes, the new owners have kept the silver, retro diner look intact and you can expect the drive-thru will be busy.
Twin Smokers Barbecue has opened in the Luckie Marietta District in Downtown Atlanta. The 4,000-square-foot space located at 300 Marietta St. is serving up Southern and Texas-style smoked meats, fresh sides, craft beer and cocktails.
Wahoo! Wine & Provisions has opened next door to Wahoo! Grill at 1036 West College Ave. in Decatur. The specialty shop has 200 bottles to choose from, as well as growlers and wine on tap. You’ll also be able to find a variety of meats, cheeses, local produce and even flowers.
Old Fourth Ward Pizza is now open at Irwin Street Market, taking over the former Jake’s Ice Cream spot. The New Jersey-style pizzeria is cooking up simple pies with house-made mozzarella and marinara sauce. Gluten-free pizza is also available.

Le Fat, the e Atlanta Wine Party will kick off its inaugural event on March 7 at Opera where over 50 wines will be available to taste, along with live music and a DJ. Tickets are on sale now and can be found through Xorbia.com or check out AtlantaWineParty. com. e Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta has launched the city’s only Jittery Joe’s coffee shop in the hotel’s lobby. The Athens-based coffee house offers an extensive beverage menu along with pastries and retail items such as coffee beans and mugs. Jittery Joe’s coffee beans come from at least 18 different countries, and are micro-roasted in small batches
French-Vietnamese restaurant from Guy Wong, is expected to open in mid-February at the old Yum Bunz space at 935 Marietta St. on the westside.
Belly General Store at 772 N. Highland Ave. has closed in Virginia-Highland last month, but a new restaurant called Jimmy Jones Bourbon & Bar & Grill is set to fill the spot in the coming months.

Community Smith, a “protein-centric neighborhood restaurant” by Chef Micah Willix, has opened in Midtown at the corner of Abercrombie and West Peachtree streets. The adjoining rooftop space, The Garden at Community Smith, also a take on the “modern meatery” concept, will open on March 20. The Community Smith menu is focused on global cookery styles using humanely-raised beef, pork, lamb, and veal.
The food options at the Buckhead Atlanta development continue to expand. Now open: American Food and Beverage, Doraku Sushi and Qing Mu are all open for business.
Shi ing Chefs: TWO Urban Licks named Michael Bertozzi as its new executive chef. Formerly Sous Chef under Chef Todd Stein, Bertozzi hails from nationally acclaimed kitchens including King & Duke and Central in Montgomery.

Verde Taqueria named Joe Macy executive chef and he brings experience from Magnolias in Charleston, as well as Atlanta’s Local Three and BLT Steak.
Ann Brewer, founder of the Morningside Famers Market, passed away on Jan. 2 after a short illness. A mainstay for 20 years in the neighborhood, the Saturday market will continue with its mix of organic goods and weekly cooking demonstrations by local chefs.
