Daffodil Project a memorial to children lost during Holocaust
More than 20,000 da odils were planted in Downtown’s Woodru Park last November and they came into bloom last month in time to celebrate the beginning of e Da odil Project.
e Da odil Project plans to build a Living Holocaust Memorial by planting 1.5 million da odils around the world to remember and represent the 1.5 million children who died senselessly in Nazi occupied Europe.
e vision for this project in Downtown Atlanta includes the possibility of planting da odils along the route of the streetcar, lining the path from the National Center for Civil and Human Rights to the King Center. e da odils planted around the children’s playground in Woodru Park kicked o the project.
A celebration to mark the launch of the The Daffodil Project in Downtown Atlanta was held on March 19 in Woodruff Park. More than 20,000 daffodil bulbs were planted last November to remember children lost in the Holocaust.
