The Neighborhood Future Ted New renderings released for Turner Field redevelopment

New renderings for the redevelopment of the 1,700 acres and five neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field have been released along with results of a study, which can be read at stadiumneighborhoodslci.org. The public is encouraged to send comments on the plan by Aug. 31.

The study, known as the Turner Field Livable Centers Initiative (LCI), is a master plan for the redevelopment, which involved city officials, neighborhood leaders, and a team of architects and urban designers from Perkins + Will.

Georgia State University and its development partners Carter and Oakwood Development plan to transform the Turner Field site into a mixed-use project with athletic facilities (including a reconfiguration of The Ted into a football stadium), dorms, hotels, retail, restaurants and housing. The Atlanta Braves will leave The Ted at the end of the year for its new home in Cobb County.

Last month, Chattanooga-based Compass Auctions & Real Estate, LLC was selected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to list and sell a group of properties is 40 parcels adjacent to Turner Field in Downtown. The 40 parcels equal 4.67 acres and are located between Hank Aaron Drive and Georgia Avenue. The properties are zoned MRC-1-C, which stands for Mixed Residential Commercial District.
