The Atlanta City Council voted unanimously to dramatically reduce the penalty ($75) for marijuana possession and make it a non-arrestable offense.

The removal of 250 trees from Grant Park has been put on hold while residents and the city look for a compromise to save some of the greenery. The trees would be cut down for the Grant Park Gateway - a parking structure topped with a restaurant and greenspace.
The DeKalb County Commission approved a resolution calling for the county’s legal team to render an opinion on the legality of removing The Lost Cause Confederate monument from the Decatur square.
The Atlanta City Council approved an extension on a moratorium to prohibit any structural alterations or demolition at the historic Pratt-Pullman Yard in Kirkwood. The site is up for landmark district designation.
The City of Atlanta has earned another perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2017 Municipal Equality Index for LGBTQ citizens. This is the fifth consecutive perfect score earned by Atlanta, the only city in Georgia to receive a perfect score.
