Health insurance company Anthem Inc. has announced plans to locate its 1,800-employee IT center to a new 21-story building at Tech Square in Midtown. Anthem signed a build-to-suit agreement with Portman Holdings, which will develop the 352,000-square-foot building near Georgia Tech. The new building will be located at the corners of 4th and West Peachtree Streets. It will employ 3,000 people and create 1,800 new jobs. Anthem is expected to lease the entire building.

Atlanta-based Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop has opened their second brick-and-mortar location at Ponce City Market. The shop, which also has a location in East Atlanta, specializes in unplugged toys, clothing, games, books, costumes and more.

Fattmerchant, a payment technology provider, has announced its expansion to Atlanta with the assistance of $5.5 million in funding from Fulcrum Equity Partners. Fattmerchant is looking to add more than 50 jobs outside of its Orlando headquarters in 2018, with the majority in its Atlanta hub. For more information, visit fattmerchant.com.

The Fox Theatre, recently named “Theater of the Year” by the International Entertainment Buyers Association, has delayed opening of its 10,000 squarefoot Marquee Club to early 2018. Upon its completion, the Marquee Club will encompass 10,000 square-feet of premium event space to include multi-level interior and climate controlled exterior environments. Overlooking Atlanta’s famed Peachtree Street, the rooftop terrace will allow public access to the Fox Theatre’s roof for the first time in nearly 65 years.

The Ellis Hotel in Downtown has been named Best Hotel in Atlanta and 11th Best Hotel in the South in Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Reader’s Choice Awards.

The American Hotel, which first opened in June of 1962 and became famous for being the city’s first integrated Downtown hotel, has completed a major renovation with a revamp of rooms and public spaces. Some of the unique features include vintage mini fridges, 60s car-themed headboards and an Airstream trailer which serves cocktails poolside.
