Retired Judge releases his new book

91-year-old Sandy Springs the Gwinnett Historical Society for sponsorship of the grant award to seal the exterior of the One-Room Schoolhouse and Barn at the Elisha Winn property.

Retired Judge Braswell D. Deen, Jr. uses quips, quotes and questions to poke fun at politicians, celebrities and professors in his new book, published by Outskirts Press. Deen, the son of a former Georgia US Congressman, served in WWII with the 1st Marine Division and was awarded the Purple Heart. His book “Retired Judge Deen’s Views on National and Political Issues!” is available through retail and library markets and book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble for $19.95.

Successful Ben Hill UMC event raises money to help Atlanta seniors

Leaders of Ben Hill United Methodist Church announced that the “Jazzing with Grace,” benefit concert raised more than $27,000 for programs to help Atlanta seniors.

“Wesley Woods does wonderful work for older adults right here in our local community,” said the Rev. Dr. Byron E. Thomas, senior pastor of Ben Hill UMC. All funds raised at the event will support quality of life programs for residents of Wesley Woods’ Asbury Harris Epworth Towers and Branan Towers senior living communities through the Foundation of Wesley Woods.
