Letters to the Editor...

The letters in this section and opinion articles do not reflect the views of the staff of The Rehoboth Reporter. It is not our intent to take sides on any issues, but to present all arguments from all points of view. If your point of view is not represented on an issue, it is only because you have not voiced your opinion. Let us hear from YOU!

From a Grateful Family

The recent restoration of the Sammis Field/Waterman Diamond by Armand Pereault (Rehoboth Reporter May 2021) may be looked upon by many as a good deed. While it certainly is that, I will share that it is much more. For it lies within the complexity of the ethos of marines; “SEMPER FIDELIS.”

Armand gathered the resources, among which were Bob Choate and Kevin Cryan. Raised the funds necessary to add five new flag poles, restore the grounds, and employ future maintenance. Then put in the time to complete the work.

President John F. Kennedy is quoted – “Every person can make a difference, and every person should try.” Armand Pereault; you made “a difference.”

On behalf of a grateful family please accept our thanks and appreciation for what you have done. With Sincere Gratitude, Steven B Sammis

Memorial Day 1962

We brought The clippers, Geraniums. I talked a lot. Few words From him. When we Were done We stood alone. He read The names Upon the stone. I then Looked up To see Dad’s face. He was Like this No other place.
