OUR FACILITIES At RP, we provide real-world experiences for all of our students. Our purpose-built training facilities realistically simulate the working environment across various hospitality sectors. These allow students to experience and overcome various challenges that they may encounter in a genuine working environment, preparing them for a future career across a wide range of industries. Our customer experience learning facilities include the Contact Centre Learning Lab, Customer Relationship Management Lab and Retail Unlimited, which give students a clear view into the value of a positive customer experience. We are also well-equipped with carefully constructed culinary and beverage laboratories which use top-of-the-line institutional kitchen appliances to develop our students’ learning, aiming to prepare students for the fast pace of commercial restaurant kitchens. These facilities include Training Kitchens and Restaurants, Culinary Demonstration Kitchens, the Barista Lab, Beverage Lab, and Wine Lab. Our exhibition and event labs give students valuable hands-on experience in the exhibition and conference industry, while our business-themed hotel facilities provide students with hands-on training in key aspects of hotel operations and management.

Delanie Huang Yingjie was appointed as the Valedictorian representing her cohort at her Graduation Ceremony, a fitting end to three years of academic excellence at RP. Muhammad Danial represented RP and clinched the Gold medal award in the WorldSkills Singapore 2016 (Cooking) competition. Danial trained for months and emerged as the winner with a dish that featured a baked mushroom-crusted beef tenderloin with sweet potatoes and vegetables. His recipe was later included in RP’s 15th anniversary cookbook titled “Great Food, Great Health: 25 Recipes for Happy Living”.

Muhammad Danial B Suboh

In addition to his prowess in the kitchen, Danial was awarded the MENDAKI Special Achievement Award for Excellence in 2016. He also demonstrated excellent leadership skills during his time at RP in his role as captain of the RP Athletics Interest Group for Field Events team in 2015 and 2016. Danial continued to do the nation and RP proud when he represented Singapore in the 2017 WorldSkills competition in Abu Dhabi and won the Medallion for Excellence (Cooking) Award.

The best way to learn is to roll up your sleeves and jump in. Our local and overseas Industry Immersion Programme, student overseas travel and servicelearning trips provide multiple opportunities for you to do just that. Local and Overseas Industry Immersion Programme 24

Approximately 40% of SOH’s students have been offered full-time employment immediately after their IIP. For example, Ng Yen Ling, a Year 3 student from Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management, participated in the Young Talent Programme and was offered an overseas internship in InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Vietnam. During her internship, she was attached to the Front Office Department and had the opportunity to experience guests management. Through this overseas exposure, Yen Ling had a better understanding about the working life and culture of Da Nang, which encouraged her to work harder and contribute ideas to improve the resort. With that, Yen Ling was commended for her contributions and even offered a future employment at the resort.

The Higher Year Scholarship, offered in partnership with industry stakeholders and organisations, is a scholarship programme awarded to students with outstanding academic performance and achieving excellence in co-curricular activities.

25 Higher Year Scholarships In partnership with industry partners and organisations, the RP Higher Year Scholarship is offered to outstanding Year 2 and 3 SOH students who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents. The diverse range of scholarships across various disciplines serves to recognise those with outstanding academic performance and a consistent track record in their chosen CCA. Ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 per student per year, the sponsoring organisation may offer students an internship during their final year or even a fast-track career pathway via a management trainee programme upon their graduation.

The Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) is your opportunity to showcase the skills you have learnt in school and apply them in real-life work situations in Singapore or overseas. You will be assigned to one of our renowned industry partners such as Citibank Singapore, DBS Bank, Marina Bay Sands, Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore Airlines, Teleperformance Singapore, or Wildlife Reserves Singapore amongst many others.

Student Overseas Travel and ServiceLearning Trips Our trips focus both on diploma-related and servicelearning, all of which will provide you with incredible opportunities to learn from new people, cultures and experiences overseas. Staff Mentorship Programme

Selected student leaders will be trained to function as Peer Support Leaders (PSLs). These PSLs help to build the One-SOH school spirit, engaging SOH students in various school-wide activities like Battle Republic Annual Games (BRAG) and Orientation Programme (OP). The PSLs also serve as peer mentors to help new students bridge the transition into polytechnic life, while supporting current students with their holistic development.

When you first join us, an SOH staff mentor will be assigned to you to offer help and guidance with any issues you may face in school or at home. You can be assured that you will not be alone while adapting to a new learning environment.
