Our Outstanding Graduate Syafiq joined his dream course, the Diploma in Sonic Arts through the Direct Polytechnic Admissions (now known as Early Admissions Exercise). Syafiq believes in pushing new frontiers and frequently draws inspiration from various materials and music genres. One of Syafiq’s breakthroughs was having composed an original Gamelan piece named ‘Rampak 2.0’, alongside musician, Rosemainy Buang, who is also the alumni and instructor from RP’s Gamelan Naga Kencana (RPGNK) interest group. ‘Rampak 2.0’ was performed in various venues in Singapore as well as the International Gamelan Festival held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014. It was also recently featured in RPGNK’s 10th Anniversary item, ‘Sedasa: Sedulur: Seirama – A Decade of Dissonance and Harmony’.
