MARKET ANALYSIS Benchmarks indices witnessed one of the biggest falls in 2013 on Monday as cautious institutional investors resorted to profit booking after the sharp four-week rally. All sectoral indices closed in the negative terrain with heavy sell-off in FMCG, metals, capital goods and auto stocks. The 30-share index ended at 19,686.01, down 436.31 points or 2.16 per cent. It touched a high of 20,109.08 and a low of 19,669.70 in trade today. The Nifty closed at 5,977.10, down 130.15 points or 2.13 per cent. It touched a high of 6,104.95 and a low of 5,972.90 in trade today. The S&P BSE Midcap Index fell 1.42 per cent and the S&P BSE Smallcap Index was 1.14 per cent lower. Among the sectoral indices, the S&P BSE FMCG Index fell 3.03 per cent, the S&P BSE Metal Index was down 2.73 per cent, the S&P BSE Capital Goods Index was 2.63 per cent lower and the S&P BSE Auto Index was down 2.22 per cent. NTPCBSE -0.16 % (0.03 per cent) was the only index gainer.
