ATLANTA

Velvet Room Club/NightLife Chamblee, GA Friday, July 31st, 2009 http://www.velvetatl.com/

A free-spirited, chaotic thinking, music loving pisces. Born and raised in Rhode Island, came to Atlanta in ‘06 and have fallen into the gap between the north and the south. Reviewing and recommending, for the northern newcomers and visitors while experiencing the southern hospitality of ATL firsthand. Reviewing and sharing is just a hobby, but writing...Well, that’s just a part of me. ~*U Can Reel Me in But Can U Keep Me?? *~

Wmogram either!! She then, unapologeticaly asked for me to open up my little ass clutch, which can barely hold my id and car key, so she could look inside. AND LOOK SHE DID!! Taking things out and shifting things around. Suprised she didn’t take out each indivdual gum stick and check there!! When she finished, I was just cast aside feeling like a rape victim and barked to pay $20 to get in. And as I walked to the entrance, had the luxory of viewing the sale items in the Big Lots window display. BUT, once those doors opened, a clear transformation had taken place and it was clear we weren’t in Kansas anymore, well at least the parking lot of a Big Lots. The inside decor was fabulous!! The walls and VIP couches were of course the color of velvet with huge white squarish pillars seperating each section. The dance floor was like a wide and long runway with VIP sections lining both sides and closed off with velvet ropes. There was a bar all the way in the left back corner and another on a slightly upper level behind the VIP on the right side. The DJ booth was closer to the back on the right, spinning the latest southern music and Elle Duncan of V103 hosting. Silver disco balls lined the ceiling and chandeliers hung over each VIP section. It was a sight to see. Never would of thought this place would have been so brilliantly decorated behind the outside gray walls!! The crowd thickened as the night continued on and the drinks kept flowing. Almost 3/4 of the dance floor was covered and the professional photographers were on the prowl for eye candy. Though the actual location of the Velvet Room was a little in the boondocks, and the crowd a little too hood that night, and the main genre of music was southern, we still managed to have ourselves a decent time. At least the drinks were tasty and up to par!! :) But perhaps will have to check it out on a Sunday night. Thanks to Orianne and Terry for this experience DesireeMarie

Whether you live in Atlanta or the most remote part of the country, seems like everyone knows about the infamous Velvet Room. Good music, upscale decor, open until the wee hours of the morning and plenty of celeb sightings, like Usher, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Jay-Z, Diddy, etc, etc. To an Atlanta native the Velvet Room is a regular hotspot and a must, on any visitors ‘to do list’. So I had to make sure my BFF hit it up before she left town. So dressed to impress and gps handy, we began our 45 minute drive. Listesides and closed off with velvet ropes. Though the actual location of the Velvet Room Paula whittle has been the person behind all that I have seen was a little in the boondocks, and the crowd a little too hood that night, and the main genre of in the past six months. From one of the biggest fashion music was southern, we still managed to have weeks across the country to doing auditions and tryouts in ourselves a decent time. At least the drinks were the biggest cities across not only the country but the world. tasty and up to par!! :) But perhaps will have to check it out on a Sunday night.

Rhode islands own and atlanta rep desiree daniels will be sitting down with her in january for a recap and look into the future through the eyes of this fashionista very soon..... stay tuned for both articles on and about paula and desiree corner.

Listening carefully to the directions TomTom was providing, we supposedly arrived at our destination on the right. Looked to the right.... Golden arches and a gas station. Looked to the left.. an apartment complex. Right in front of us, slightly to the right.... a shopping plaza. Hmm?? Pulled up a little more and to our surprise, right smack dab in the middle of the shopping plaza squeezed between Big Lots and some mom and pop shop was the....Velvet Room!! We couldn’t believe our eyes. Maybe being northern bred, spoiled us in having our clubs located quite closely together and in eye-friendly areas, BUT a shopping plaza?!?! And as we drove through the bumpy and unlevel parking lot, the crowd entering and leaving seemed a little on the ‘casual side’. Walking to the line, women were scantly dressed with the highest heels you could think of. Men in polos, hats and sneaks. The entrance line was like walking into a DesireeMarie

The entrance line was like walking into a line at an amusement park on an empty day...except with heels on and men leaned up on the barrier ready to pounce. Not too long after, we were stopped to get patted down. Now, I know it’s protocal for every club to do a security check. But NEVER have I EVER felt as VIOLATED as I did that night!! I know it’s procedure, but usually it’s just a light tap tap here, flash of the light in the purse and a swing of the metal detector. BUT not here!! She asked “Do you have any drugs on you??” “No.” All of sudden, I just feel hands all up and down my legs, arms, stomach and all UP IN my breasts. Squishing them together, flattening them down, feeling on both sides, in between, and underneath. BITCH I said NO!! And I didn’t ask for no damn hand mammogram either!! She then, unapologeticaly asked for me to open up my little ass clutch, which can barely hold my id and car key, so she could look inside. AND LOOK SHE DID!! o my friend claude tells me about this trendy party that I absolutly have to go to. He tells me the tickets are 25 and the ratio of woman to men is outta this world. So I'm sold and have to go. After finding parking in busy downtown boston, I walk around the corner and wammmmmm, this is it. Its a shindig. Located on the 5th floor of this grand building with glass on two sides of the building you can actually look up and down the sreets of boston from this restaurant named blue. As I walk into the lobby its surrounded by marble top ceiling to floor and I'm greeted by an acxtual greter. I have to say that alone made me feel like I was worth the 25 bucks. The elevator doors open and walla, I'm spit into the luxary lobby of the restaurant and mosied along the line to the reception area. Photographers were on there job snapping away some great pics from the very start. The lighting was great, the crowd, the dress, music, ent, snacks and the overall rundown of the events from beginning to end. I have to say people, when in boston please visit and noit marketing event. It is a must see and experience. For more info please visit noirmarketing.com and check them out on facebook at www.facebook.com/noirmarkeing

So the essential life sits down with the KEVIN HART, writer, actor, comedian extradonair. so kevin, what made you want to get into comdey?

i was short, and small

When did you know that you wanted to do it fulltime? did you ever think you would be where you are now? whats your plans with comedy and movies? where do you see yourself in 5 years whats are some projects your working on? where are you from?

Ri comedy connection.....this place is quit a space. From the time you walk in the doors you know this place has been graced by some of the comedy greats. Infact the owner himself is a comedian and in the business.

A berkley student he goes to school and studies his hobby at one of the nations top schools. Be sure to visit his site, pick up a cd, or even visit him in one of his shows while playing along with rapped chachi carvahlo

So, I’ve had this idea of this thing called intimate for grown for quit some time. And I have been scouring the earth, well to be more exact providence and ri for someone exactly like paul. I found him through a friend name jessica, whom I tend to second guess. One day I brought up what I was trying to do and she heavily suggested paul. So, fast forward to the day we meet, he comes to the office and unpacks his neatly tucked away tool of the trade and begans to blow through some of his tunes and I was impressed. I wasn’t blown away until he played my favorite song that I had to request to see if it was exactly what I was looking for. R.Kelly, feeling on your booty, Paul plays this song better then the actual real version. At that point I knew I had what I was looking forward. He quickly recommended his painist to compliment him in his play and very shortly after that intimate was born. Paul lowe is a true musician, he can hear a song or melody and within a few attempts he can play along to the tune or pick it up and run away with it.
