Digital Crafting »Digital crafting« describes the combination of work techniques typical of craftsmen with computer-supported processes. here, the term »crafting« designates the »productive and knowledge- creating treatment of aesthetic objects in various areas«. The shown studies were developed in 1 to 3 day-workshops with Tom Pawlofsky at the chair CAAD, ETH Zürich and the CNC Tischlerei Bächer GmbH. Various robotic studies, focusing on digital fabrication interfaces with Rhino Script and Grasshopper with VB Script, were made (see pictures of generated mitre joints and a robot generated moooi lamp). Both the robot KUKA and the HOMAG 5-Axis mill are directly feeded by scripts or grasshopper definiitons.
