Job Description, Salary and Skills: Web Developer Web developers are the ones who develop and look after upgradation of websites and web applications. Most of the time, their work is solely on the back-end, and few of them work on the user interfaces and visual design (i.e. front-end). Few developers are the combination of both, which are known for full-stack development. Their work can vary according to project requirements, which would be understood during client meetings and, which has to be updated regularly. Their primary task is to create reliable and high-performance applications and websites for clients.

Job description of a web developer

A web developer creates and enhances viewing experience of a website for the visitor. A website is built through developing page layouts, which includes of headings and paragraphs, website style and other features on page such as pictures and animations. They have to work closely with the web designers and have to report to project managers to ensure that the final product fits in budget, and meets clients' requirements. Along with the technical skills, the candidate must also have strong verbal and written communication skills, and he or she must be good at managing time. He or she must stay current with the trending technologies and standards to troubleshoot issues. Web developers' role and responsibilities is to make websites easy for users to navigate as well as functional by using HTML or JavaScript. They can also work as a freelancer or for web development companies. Those working in web


development companies may be expected to put some extra efforts by waiting for extra time or irregular hours to achieve project deadlines or while working for clients from different countries. 

Educational & Training Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science with years of experience in coding websites is preferred. Web developers' education & training requirements may vary from employers to employers. For further growth, additional training in relevant subject is essential. 

Salary

An entry-level candidate may be offered salary between the range of $19,000 to $25,000. Candidate with numerous years of experience can get between $25,000 and $35,000. Project manager in web development usually earns between $35,000 and $50,000. Salary package offered may be different based on the size of and location of the company. 

Skills

1. Must be keen to update knowledge regarding the new programming languages 2. Should be able to develop website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other front-end technologies 3. Candidate should be capable of coding and deploying applications in cross platform and cross browser environment 4. Should have experience in building user interfaces and prototypes from Designs and Wire-frames 5. Familiar with development and debugging tools for cross-browser bugs and also be familiar with social media and third party APIs 6. Ability to work with the latest frameworks of web development 7. Must be self-motivated, and seamlessly switch between different projects 8. The candidate should be able to update existing websites to meet the current web standards 9.
