Silverstone Silverstone is a medium sized village in the southernmost part of Northamptonshire. It is very close to the North Buckinghamshire border and has a population of around two thousand people. Only 4 miles from Towcester it provides a quiet village feel but gives excellent access to multiple locations via the A43, A5, the M1 (10 miles) and the M40 (12 miles) thus making it an excellent commuter location. The towns of Milton Keynes and Northampton are around 12 miles away, offering all of the shopping and amenities that you would need as well as offering excellent rail links to London and beyond. Half a mile south of the village is the famous Silverstone Circuit, the home of the British Grand Prix. This was formerly the site of RAF Silverstone and home to World War II bombers. In the middle ages the village was primarily in the timber trade utilising the surrounding Whittlewood Forest through the use of coppicing. For those interested in schooling in the area, both the local infant school and junior school are highly regarded with the infant school in particular achieving an “outstanding� Ofsted rating. The Properties All four houses are traditional in their external design with elements of stone, brick and slate. When combined with the Air Source Heat Pumps, Heat Recovery, Photovoltaic Solar Panels and Rainwater Harvesting, then taking into account the income back from the government in the form of the ‘Feed in Tariffs’ and ‘Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme‘, it is possible that the owners of these properties could end up in profit each year when heating and running their own homes. Each house will also have an electric car charging station for anyone interested in joining the electric car revolution! Internally the properties are situated over three floors. Smart home technology All four properties will be wired for the most up to date audio and visual smart home technology. This includes wiring for ceiling speakers, data points and TV points to all habitable rooms. The wiring can cater for a host of multisource, multi zone audio and video systems that can be designed and installed to meet the client’s requirements. For television, the property will be pre-wired for HD and 3D via satellite or Freeview (from your choice of provider) and can be streamed around the house, with the correct control elements installed. All audio and visual technology can be set up in a central hub in the
Eco smart home cupboard and controlled by intelligent remotes or touch screens in the walls, so no obvious wires, satellite boxes or DVD players would be visible in the rooms. The houses will also be wired for CCTV camera points to front and rear. This gives just a small element of what can be achieved with the wiring that will be installed. Everyone is different, so options can be discussed and the property fitted out to meet the lifestyle needs of the client.
Resolution Homes prides itself on utilising and installing the most up-to-date eco-products to reduce carbon footprints and provide clients with modern and economical ‘green’ properties. The eco specification includes: • Oversized 150mm wall cavities filled by a Superfill pumped ‘recycled glass’ insulation. This will perform vastly greater than that of a standard building regulation block and brick built home. • Triple glazed windows & doors (passive house standard). • Rainwater harvesting systems that will supply water to the toilets, washing machine and garden taps. This offers a potential 50% reduction in water bills. • Air Source Heat Pump’s (ASHP) that absorb the heat from the outside air and use it to heat the property and provide the hot water. From summer 2013 it is likely that an income from these will be provided through the Government’s ‘Renewable Heat Incentive’.
• Photovoltaic solar panels that capture the suns energy via PV cells and converts it into energy to run the home resulting in a reduced electricity bill. You also receive fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity that you generate whether you use it yourself or export back to the grid, through the Government’s ‘Feed in Tariffs’. • Heat recovery system which recovers 60-70% of the heat that is normally lost in bathrooms & kitchens and re-uses it in habitable areas of the house. In addition it also ventilates the home by continually replacing the damp air with fresh, warmed and cleaned filtered air. As mentioned above it is likely that the Feed in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive Schemes will result in you getting paid for the heat that you generate or energy that you produce.
