Trucks and bus are the giants of the road. There are by far many accidents that is happening every single day involving trucks and busses. According to statistics in 2012 there are 3,802 large trucks that were involved in a fatal truck accident, which is a 5 percent increase from 2011’s report. For 2.1 percent of the fatal truck accidents that were reported, struck drivers are said to be under the influence of alcohol. There are many reasons as well as why trucks are being involved with accidents, this includes:

Failure of truck driver to adhere to or obey the rules of the road – like cutting other vehicles, not using signal light and the like. Speeding or unsafe acceleration – just like the first example, not using of signal lights. Under-inflated tires on big rig trucks – not checking the vehicle before using it, make sure that the vehicle is in tune. Cargo shifting or improperly loaded commercial trucks – overloading for an instance. Truck driver fatigue (over-driving without proper rest breaks) – sometimes just to deliver the goods on time or to meet the quota drivers push themselves to their limits. Truck driver substance abuse – may they are under influence of illegal drugs or alcohol. Improper braking or deceleration – for unexpected circumstances, some drivers see crossing animals and tend to do sudden breaks cars or vehicles on their back is not fully aware of what is really happening in front so collisions happen sometimes. Poor truck maintenance or shoddy repair work – these normally happens with old trucks.

Vehicular blind spots – there are roads that are blind spot to some vehicles. Speeding is the main reason why accidents happen on blind spots. Careless or reckless driving – admit it or not, some professional drivers really drive recklessly since they think that they already know each angles of the road without thinking about the other motorist’s welfare. Distracted truck drivers – Some examples of distracted driving are work related. But many have nothing to do with work and simply take the driver’s attention away from the road. Examples are GPS navigation, communicating with the truck company dispatcher, talking on a cellphone, texting while driving, eating while driving, watching videos while driving, and grooming. Inexperienced truck drivers – admit it or not there are huge difference in driving a small vehicle and a truck. It takes lot of practice to get used in driving a truck. Inexperience is one of the major reasons why accidents happen on the road.
