Descripción:avepequeña,pesaalrededorde8gramos.Elmachopresentaunacoronaplomiza,unnotoriocollar caféoscuroquerodeaalacabeza,desdelanucahastalagarganta(dondeseensanchayesmásdestacado)llegandoalamitadinferiordelpicoydelosojos,loscualestienenun noanilloperiocular.Elpechoyelabdomenson ocráceos,pudiendopresentaralgunasplumasteñidasdecanelaoblanco.Elcortoygruesopicoylosojosson negros,mientrasquelaspatassonnegruzcas.Lasalassonnegrasribeteadasdegris-ocráceo,conunsectorblanco enlaregióninteriormediadelasremerasprimarias.Eldorsoylarabadillasongris-ocráceos.Lacolaesgrisáceaa ne negruzca.Comoocurreconlamayoríadelasespeciesdelgénero,estatambiénpresentadimorsmosexual,siendo coloridoelplumajeenelmachoyapagadoenelcasodelahembra.
Comportamiento:pocoseconocesobresuscomportamientosreproductivos.Alllegarelotoñoaustrallaespecie desaparece,porloquesesospechaque,aligualqueocurreconlasdemásespeciesdelgéneroquevivenenlazona, migraríahaciaelnorte,invernandoenlazonacentro-nortedeSudamérica,enelcentrodelBrasil,estedeBoliviay talvezelnortedelParaguay,regresandoaCorrientesenlaprimavera,paravolverareproducirse. Estecapuchinoenelveranohabitaysereproduceúnicamenteenaltassabanasinundablesdepajacolorada(Andropogonlateralis)demásdeunmetrodealtura,carentesdepastoreodelganado.Elhábitatqueutilizaalinvernar esdesconocido.
Alimentación:Sealimentadesemillasgraciasasupicocortoygrueso. Distribucióngeográ cayhábitat:EstaespecieesunendemismoreproductivodelnordestedelaArgentina,especícamentedelaprovinciadeCorrientes,enelsectornortedelaregiónmesopotámicadeesepaís.FueregistradaenlaregióndelosesterosdelIberá(cuencadelríoParanávíaríoCorriente)yenbañadossituadosalorientede lamisma,especialmenteenlosformadosporelvalledeinundacióndelacuencadelríoAguapey(curso uvialde lacuencahidrográcadelríoUruguay),conregistrosenalgunosdepartamentosdelnordestecorrentino:Santo Tomé,SanMartíneGeneralAlveareItuzaingó.
Otrascaracterísticas:Sibienposeeunacoloracióncaracterística,claramenteseparabledeotroscongéneres,su cantoesdiagnóstico,conpeculiaridadesquenoserepitenenningunadelasrestantesespeciesdelgénero. Deestamanera,unrasgoqueesenparteheredadocomoeselcantoayudaamantenerelaislamientoreproductivo entreespeciesquehabitanenambientesmuypróximos,soloseparadasporsutilesbarrerasecológicasynofísicas.
Esunaespeciedescubiertarecientemente,enelsigloXXI,enlazonanortedelIberá,enparticularencercaníasde Ituzaingó,Corrientes,Argentina.EslasegundaespeciedescriptacomoendémicaennuestropaísdespuésdelMacá Tobiano.
