NAVAL AIR STATION KINGSVILLE

Wing ONE at NAS Meridian, Miss., and Training Air Wing TWO at NAS Kingsville were the first two training air wings designated. Training Air Wing TWO was established on Aug. 1, 1971.

In 1992, the T45-A “Goshawk” aircraft was introduced as the sole training aircraft flown at Kingsville.

Approximately 1,900 people are now stationed at NAS Kingsville: 450 military members, an average of 150 student aviators and 975 civilian and contract employees. ere are also about 250 U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the base.

NAS Kingsville property includes more than 18,000 acres of land at four locations in South Texas. e main station (NAS Kingsville) consists of nearly 4,000 acres including four 8,000-ft. Runways, four aviation hangars and 1.2 million sq. ft. of building space. Navy Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF) Orange Grove consists of 1,379 acres and two 8,000-ft. Runways while McMullen Target Range near Freer, Texas, consist of two target sites on 4,000 acres of Navy property. NAS Kingsville’s Escondido Ranch, located adjacent to the McMullen Target Range, consists of more than 6,500 acres.
